  1. I was gonna say it's Tigers2022, he took Chas' advice and switched allegiances to a successful team.

  2. It’s 103° in Boise Idaho and on the asphalt it’s 110° and I have a magnifying glass out and I’m focusing it on a red ant I’ve named Kenta. It’s the way I’ve learned to deal with stress.

  3. it would need to be an irrational return, where every fan says, Yeah they had to take that reminder for Os fan that the Tigers current trade return on Verlander + JD Martinez + Castellanos + Upton + Kinsler + Boyd + Fulmer + Castro + Parades + Candelario + ERod is Jake Rogers, so pardon us for being a little testy

  4. You are not going to get an elite pitcher unless you are willing to give up elite prospects. Kjerstad won’t cut it.

  5. Then Skubal's staying here. End of story. Our system is already lousy with outfielders and guys who are going to end up at first base. We don't need a package led by another one like Kjerstad. Tell you what: add Kjerstad to my trade and I'll add Tork in return. a three-for-five deal. You want a ring this year and next? Skubal is your best shot at ensuring that. We need something that will actually help us fill holes in return. Or you can wait until July 2026 to see how the market looks then. Thanks for the fun exercise!

  6. There is also a big cultural break within the boomers somewhere around 52/53. Maybe driven by the difference between being at higher risk of the draft, and also being more at the cutting cultural edge. If you were born in say '51, your might have been able to be sheltered from Rock'n'Roll and the cultural shifts somewhat - esp if you had conservative parents. By a few years later the older generation had lost the rear-guard action to hold back youth culture primacy. In my experience that older end of the cohort also became more politically conservative than the rest.

  7. I kind of hope they extend Flaherty and Kelly rather than trade them. These deadline deals of rentals don't seem to have a high probability of success.

  8. The question of succession is hairy - we don't know if Joe Biden will die within the next four years, and if he would, we don't know if he will die suddenly or if he just becomes unable to do the job and gradually passes. That's why the age thing matters - I would vote for him regardless, but I would vote for a package of Koegel's hot dogs over Trump because Trump is *that* terrible on policy and in terms of temperment. But it's what the rest of America thinks given their choice. And having seen within my own family how hard it can be at the end to give in to the lifestyle changes that come with old age in my own life, when people are evaluating the choice, it's hard not to think about that stuff when voting for President too. For the record, at the same point that Biden is now within this term, Trump would be older than Biden is currently if he is reelected and doesn't die.... he somehow gets a pass on his age, and he really shouldn't if we are being intellectually consistent here.

  9. I went to a neurologist for a suspected pinched nerve this year. I got an EMG nerve test (really painful test, by the way) primarily to learn more about the source of the pinched nerve. The EMG also tests for Parkinsons, MS and other nerve disorders even though there was no reason to think I had any of those diseases. One could easily twist that around if I were a candidate!

  15. He's here for 2 years. You don't spend millions on a pitcher and not let him pitch. Hinch says his stuff is too good to be struggling. Either he's lying to us and himself or he's not even watching. Hey, at least Avila didn't sign him. Chris finally spends a few bucks and this is what Harris buys. No wonder he's not allowed to sign good players.

  17. This was fun to talk about, but in the end, I would be borderline shocked if we ended up trading Tarik Skubal this year. I would characterize the chances of that happening as low single-digits percent.

  21. II agree that Mayo is not chopped liver, but we've already got a numbered prospect who is ticketed to play third base to start with but who will probably end up moving over to first eventually. We don't another one. We need a middle of the dirt guy.

  22. We want your best player but we won’t part with any of our best prospects… 🤣 Go away with that attitude.

  23. I don't believe that to suggest that a trade of the current best pitcher in the American League, at the beginning of his peak and who's on the inside track to win the Cy Young, for two top prospects who, to be fair, have not even proven yet they can even play in the majors, is so far-fetched. Your window is right now, and those chickens of yours are still eggs yet, whereas our rooster is fully hatched and buck-buck-buckawing like crazy. But that's fine, we can agree to disagree on that. I offered Parker Meadows because Max Clark. Not that Parker is expendable, exactly, but in terms of making a deal happen, he could make a good lubricant. Giggity.

  26. hey, Greg, welcome to the forum. Just putting pencil to paper to project our probable needs for a 2026-27 contention window: 1B: Tork? Keith? 2B: Keith? Lee? McGonigle? SS: McGonigle? 3B: Jung LF: Greene CF: Clark RF: Perez? 😄 Briceño? So, not a lot of certainty (considering how little certainty anyone in big league ball can muster). So any trade would have to effectively fill some of these holes. And if we want to fill at least two, we may have to add something to Skubal for you. I'd love to offer you Tork, and maybe you guys could fix him and make him your DH, but that's a sixth grader's fantasy trade on my part. Our top hole to fill is middle of the infield, for reasons I don't have to remind you of. So this trade has to start with Jackson Holliday. Otherwise, no dice. You haven't hung up yet? Good! In addition to Skubal, I will offer you Parker Meadows. He's a plus plus CF and his stick is starting to come around. Cedric is turning into a pumpkin for you, so you could put Parker out there right now. (Well, once he comes off the List, of course.) You say you got Beavers coming up soon to replace Cedric? That's fine, you can figure out which of Parker and Beavers takes your newly-spacious left and which takes center, then you can shift Cowser to right where his plus arm plays, and move Santander into a DH/fifth OF role. That will solve your outfield situation for most of the rest of this decade. So, for our two guys, we want Holliday; Basallo (who you really don't need with Adley and Mountcastle on your team for the next several years); one of Haskin, Fabian, or Rhodes (I'm still not sold on Wenceel here); and a pitching lottery ticket like Strowd, Gillies, McGough, Hoffman, or Armbruester. What do you say?

  27. The next Presidential debate is scheduled for September 10 and hosted by ABC. Should either of them go through with it less than 2 months before Election Day? We know the kind of guy that Joe Biden is and he’s going to be chomping at the bit to get back and redeem himself. He’ll want to do it badly but should his people let him? He can’t afford something similar happening again so close to the vote. Trump was horrible. He gained little ground, if any, on a night that went very badly for his opponent. This was also with moderators that let him lie without any recourse and refuse to answer the direct question. CNN took heat for that and I would be surprised to see ABC let him do the same. We may get a game of chicken to see who can hold out the longest before coming up with a reason to not do it. We could also see both sides thinking their opposition is a weak debater and going through with it with guns blazing.

  43. We already have Dylan Beavers on our team, his name is Parker Meadows. Skubal is a Cy Young candidate this year, the most dominant pitcher in the Majors the past year, and you'd have him for 2 1/2 more years. We're just not going to (our GM won't) let him go for a light package, and he'll look at what you're offering and say "not enough". If our ask is too much, and your GM says no, then we just won't get a deal done. We're not two FA's away... we're a bunch of kids who are learning curves and graduation struggles from AAA to MLB away. We don't know where we actually are. But.. if they catch on quick enough, yes, we're a competitive team, soon. It's just too gray area (too many kids) for anything to be predictable. We've been discussing, on this site, whether Harris would offer extensions to Flaherty and Kelly and NOT make any major trades at the deadline. And we feel that is just as likely, if not moreso than trading Skubal. He won't be easily pried away I'm saying. Flaherty might be available at the deadline, if we don't get any extension done... but at this point, I find it highly doubtful Skubal is available. Unless we're blown away with an offer. I believe that's where our Team/ and GM are, at this point.

  44. Thanks again Al and good thing he included a nice draft pick to "get er done". The power hitter we are searching for was given away. To this day I can not watch Tampa Bay highlights on my MLB package for fear of seeing him rake which is almost always assured. Seriously how can an organization miss so badly ?
