  1. My biggest problem with the city connect unis is that the White Sox have the best one. That alone makes them unacceptable.

  2. Ron Filipowski sucks. These maga Twitter crazies like Ben Shapiro are trolls. Shapiro put out that ridiculous post about spices for exactly this response. He wants to rile up the other side to add clicks and in turn dollars to his pocket. Every single day Filipowski empowers these guys by retweeting them with some sort of “can you believe what these guys are saying now” tag. Whether he realizes it or not, he’s becoming the best marketing tool that maga Twitter has ever had. They couldn’t ask for a better friend than Filipowski for taking their troll bait everyday and continuing to spread it for them. I’m going to guess he’s never spent much time in an online forum like this one or else he’d know how the troll game works.

  11. My problem with the City Connects is the MLB decision to institute them, far more than with the Tigers version. Alternate jerseys to honor the Negro Leagues, I’m onboard. The City Connects seem contrived - but if you have to do them, the Tiger version doesn’t bother me.

  14. I heard his comments, I don't think it's something she should harp on over and over, but I don't think it's a bad part of her bio to highlight.... especially given that her opponent comes from the elite and hasn't had a day of real actual work in his entire life.

  15. For some it was tuition and book money. Or enough to pay the rent. I remember days behind the Arby's slicer, smelling of french fry grease and Jomoca shakes at the end of a 9 hour shift. Took me 30 years to go near roast beef sandwich after those days.

  16. Skubal, FA, Olson, FA/Mize/Maeda, FA/Mize/Maeda to start the season. Jobe limits innings in Toledo in April and is bumped up to be the first injury replacement. Montero, Gipson-Long, other prospects/projects in Toledo to be called upon as needed. Montero has shown glimpses, but just not enough to consider for a rotation spot out of camp. There's still time for that to change. Gipson-Long has a handful of MLB starts, coming off significant time lost. He'll need that time in Toledo. I would think Manning is out of options, but its tough to think he has much of a future with Detroit at this point anyway. I get that there were a lot of issues this season. But there's not enough pitching. And if they do have too much pitching going into the trade deadline next season, move some to address other weaknesses or get back a prospect or two.

  17. Yeah Baddoo is going to stick around the peripheries of MLB for years and make some pretty decent money. He is a LHB with power and speed, and teams with hubris will think that they can fix his hit tool. You know, the way that the Braves' video guys fixed Robbie Grossman in 2 days. Good luck to him, he seems like a nice kid, I hope he does well.

  18. Are there a lot of rainouts in the florida league during the summer. We vacationed there 3 times the last few years and every year we get rained out on plans. I guess double headers are a way of life. A few weeks ago we went to see the Tampa Tarpons, or tried to. $2 tickets so no big loss and we at least got to see the stadium. If I ever do move from the Detroit area I would probably get season tickets to the closest minor league team because watching a game is a great way to spend a summer evening and getting season tickets makes you feel a part of something.

  20. The disorienting thing about our current moment versus previous cycles is just how the drive of the news cycle is out of Trump's hand at the moment. In the nine years since he came down the escalator, I don't think we've seen him less in control of the narrative (except for the two weeks after Jan 6th anyway) I know we are all influenced by the past, but it's a real distinction from 2016 and 2020. It explains the press conferences over the past week, even if they probably do more harm than good.

  29. As we bring up Jung and Sweeny peeking into 2025 I would like to add that it is now the time to bring back Justin Verlander to Detroit and just spend the needed $$ to do so. Add Ver and one other starter similar to the Flattery/Lorenzen "fix' level and we can enter 2025 with Skubal-Verlander-Olsen-Jobe- FA starter. Mize, Maeda and Montero as back ups bulk pitchers. Add a closer, Right handed bat and second reliever and we can really have some fun. I think Verlander would be down with that and Jobe is ready. We only have two more years with Skubal before Boras asks for the moon so we need to press hard on the gas NOW !! The budget is there...use it !

  30. I like the city connect jerseys. I think being against them is like being against rock ‘n’ roll in the late 50s and only liking smooth crooners from South Philly.

  31. No, it was in Dearborn Hts. Beech Daly and Annapolis area. Probably one step down the food chain from there. Just local routes came here. Ride your bike up there and hope the stash was small enough that you could stack it on your handlebars and "hold it" that way. Dexterity was a useful skill. No need to mess around with those bags and... well... those who used a wagon were dealt a slur I'd not use today and wish I didn't use back then.

  33. I really wasn't thinking along these (bolded) lines... but it's definitely appropriate. I was mostly thinking along the lines of "if he's ready for MLB then he'll be in MLB, not AAA..." But it looks like everything you've stated and that I've stated is in alignment. +1.

  35. The only people who want this type of crap are people who don't watch or care about baseball anyway. This is just an example of an institution or organization that cater to the 1% vocal extreme that doesn't buy or consume a product yet demand it changes.

  36. it would almost certainly lead to a huge spike in fatigue induces injuries when guys can't get out of innings. Stupid idea. You don't get where you want to by just forcing the square peg into the round hole, you have to recognize that the problem is NOT the pitchers - they are giving you their all, it's the GAME. Pitchers will go deeper when you change the game to reduce the stress on them, not by increasing it. Idiotic suggestion. If you actually want to use fewer pitchers but are unwilling to fix the game, then adopt the ST rule, let a pitcher sit down after 25-30 pitches in an inning and then come back into the game next inning.

  40. I'm glad we are going to get to see these guys, but we can't assume we are going to like what we see once we see it. For instance I have a suspicion we may not like Sweeney's or Jung's glove - but that's what the team needs to know and now is when to find out.
