Such a great night, such a great comeback such a great surprise. Where I live in Idaho, it’s raining for the first time in months and I love the pattering sound of it, probably something the rest of you from more rainy climates consider banal. But after weeks of 100° days and choking, smoky skies from range and forest fires, the sound of the rain is intoxicating. It’s like listening to an ASMR rainfall recording on YouTube. It’s a perfect night with the Tigers winning and finally, rain. “And that’s the way it is,” as my good friend Walter Cronkite used to say.5 points

Casey - I believe in you. I know that you're in your recovery year and you aren't going to be 100% of what you can be until next season. Some are starting to call you a bust. I don't believe that. You may never reach that 1/1 status people want, but I still think you'll be a plus pitcher in the league once you're completely comfortable in your new elbow. But tonight...............be the 1/1 we all hoped for. Think Rick Porcello in Game 163. That game he went 5 2/3rds - 4 hits, 2 BBs and 1 ER with 8 Ks. I don't need all the K's, but if you could stiffen the sinews and summon up the blood. ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH, DEAR CASEY, ONCE MORE !3 points

Last year I brought up the pitch clock having an effect on radio broadcasters, meaning they have to hurry up, or cut back on some things, like setting up the situation, giving hte count, etc. I wonder if that's related to Dickerson's work? Throws them off the rhythm.3 points

I’m dedicating this season to Bert, who has personally experienced seeing Ty Cobb play at Navin Field all the way to Zach McKinstry at Comerica Park. No one deserves this more.3 points

with a very few exceptions like Joaquin Benoit, the problem was never the pitchers, it was the batters. They could give the pitchers all the time they want and the game time wouldn't change much as long as they make the batter get in the box in 8 (?) seconds. They call the system a 'pitch clock' but the timing that made all the difference was on the batter. So a little semantic misdirection at work.2 points

Watched a recap on youtube and at one point, I think it was after Vierling drove in the 7th run, a KC announcer said something like "we haven't seen these Tigers before, these Tigers have teeth." Was interesting to hear an opponent comment on how the Tigers are playing different these days2 points

I don't like it in general...but I can temporarily enjoy it. It's nothing like the 1987 race, but I'll take the cheap thrills of a wild card race over the past several years.1 point

Amazing how many people Trump surrounds himself with are just, on a basic level, terrible human beings1 point

If you're talking about for the first round of the playoffs it wouldn't matter if we caught KC or not we'd still be looking at 3 on the road. In fact it may be a tougher task if we got to the 5 seed since we'd either have to face the Yankees or Orioles who both have a better record than the Astros who we'd see if we got the 6 seed.1 point

Was right there with you but admittedly I didn't think he'd be a Pro Bowler right out of the gate but I was confident that he could step in and atleast be solid, especially in the right situation.1 point

I also think this latest Tigers playoff drive has them all giddy. I'll allow it.1 point

Now why would the Iranian ambassador have a Hezbollah pager? OK, I admit, dumb question.1 point

Casey would be a good candidate to use an opener so he could come against the bottom of the order and settle down.1 point

Only the Phillies and the Dodgers still have a mathematical chance to get to 100 wins. It would require taking 10 of 12 for the Phils, 11 of 12 for the Dodgers. Given the hot starts by a number of teams this season I'm surprised no one is going to end up having that kind of year.1 point

Looks like he will be covering the Knicks for The Athletic.1 point

So Keith in the middle of another huge DP in the 8th. Stat nerds having trouble deciding about Colt. BR Rrds still hates him - has him at -10. At Statcast he's up to +3 OAA. He made some errors early but is currently on a 27 game errorless streak. I think he's going to be fine there. Of course, I'm only slightly biased.1 point

These guys just know how to cobble together surprising victories. They’re almost like pickpockets you can respect.1 point

11 games left. Twins ahead 2 games in the loss column. We need to pick up 3 more games on them. They have 3 more in Cleveland, 3 in Boston and 3 at home w/Miami and finish with 3 at home against Baltimore. If I were a gambler, I would take the Tigers.1 point

After that grand slam, we outscored them 7-2. Skubal tomorrow. Forget the Twins, let's catch KC AND the Twins! 😁1 point

Colt Keith is a young man of focus, commitment, and sheer will. I once saw him hit three home runs in a high school game with a pencil. A ******* pencil.1 point
