Was reading another thread and it got me thinking. Would you trade all of these players to the Dodgers for Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Yoshi Yamamoto?3 points

54-9 would be the largest loss in Cowboys history. Just throwing that out there.2 points

This feels like the end of the season for this team.2 points

It’s also important to consider that this is a tight knit group right now who will run through walls for each other. They cheer for each other when they get pinch hit for. A massive part of the success the second half of the season was guys being willing to take on any role in any situation and have a good attitude about it when it was their turn to take a seat. Is bringing in some high priced free agents going to shift that attitude back more toward selfish individualism? We are at a point in the rebuild where Tiger Culture is a thing and is an important immeasurable to consider when we add outside help to the team.2 points

Seriously how was that not DPI? Ill take the completion but the defender never turned back for the ball and prevented Patrick from going to it without fighting through it. That wouldve been DPI against our guys for sure.2 points

I once did a ranking of the top 20 most memorable Tigers seasons. I wasn't around for all of them, but I tried to imagine what it would have been like to be there. I think this season falls in the top 10. I can't find the list I made, but the top four were obvious: 1968 1984 1935 1945 More recently, 2006 has to be in there. 2011-2013 were great seasons, but there wasn't really one season in that span that stood out as memorable. There weren't any big surpises or drama. It was just stars doing what stars do. I think this season is up there with 06 and 87. It's kind of a mix between the surprise of 2006 and the end of season drama of 1987.2 points

If a guy can catch, I'd keep developing him as a catcher right up to the minute you move him to 1st if you have to. Catchers that can hit above average are too valuable. Teach him 1st but don't move his primary gig.2 points

They definitely seemed to have the right attitude this year, but chemistry can be fleeting. What happens when the young players get older and they no longer want to be so flexible? What happens when they get a couple of years under their belts and start thinking about arbitration and free agency? What happens when they they go into a slump next April or May and start to get on each other's nerves? This is why they send young experienced kids into war. It's easier to mold them. I am not saying that chemistry doesn't matter, but I don't think it lasts indefinitely. It's an evolving thing. Talent wins out long term and winning contributes to chemistry. I will agree that they don't need to bring any known attitude problems onto the team, but if they can get the right player/personality at a reasonable price, they should not hesitate to do so.1 point

This just might be the most critical juncture the Tigers reside at since 2005. Take a look at the outfielder for a moment. While there is much to admire, there are also some questions peering into the future. Carp and Geene are solid players, but both have had significant injury histories so far into their respective careers. Carpenter's back issues can take a serious turn . Does Perez have a place moving forward in Detroit or is he a depth piece for Toledo? A right handed outfielder addition might make some sense for example. An upgrade is desirable at third. Is Tork the answer at first. As mentioned earlier, chemistry is this case is very important as mentioned earlier. I advise caution.1 point

This is lost on people who think the only way to improve a team is to spend on free agents, but you are onto something here. This isn't to say the team shouldn't dip into free agency, but they need to be selective and do research on the soft factors before adding somebody to the mix.1 point

If it’s a season ending injury you have to go get an A-tier edge rusher. You can’t stand for this being the way the season ends.1 point

I still like the Husso acquisition, the contract was very bad in hindsight though. It was worth a try when the Wings didn’t have a NHL level goaltending for the foreseeable future. It sucks he kept getting hurt and never found consistency. I guess the Fischer injury is pretty serious and they need some roster flexibility?1 point

Take a run at trading for Brent Rooker from Vegas/Oakland...he'd give you that RH power bat this team sorely lacks and the A's are always on the hunt for prospects. Jung, Hamm and Lee? Vierling plays 3rd. I think Sweeney is our boy at SS. We have the $$ to go after Alonso..would love to see that. But a cheaper alternative would be OK. With the young talent we have on hand and in the pipeline...I think we look like a much more attractive FA destination than we did last year1 point

Not just facts, either—he quiets people who make fun of Trump or Vance. I started a Twitter account called Bowman Hamel, with a picture of Vance. Within ten minutes, it was locked.1 point

Stinky McStinkface was also very good, as was JHM, but they did not get many at bats. Jake was also pretty solid, more than he is normally. And, of course, Parker. Almost makes up for the horrific trade for his brother. The one guy with the playoff experience, Vierling? Huge disappointment. Couldn't stop striking out. Also, all the other rookies hit like rookies. Just about everyone else was within margin of error for average. All in all, a mixed bag offensively.1 point

I think it was kind of a fluke that everything came together at the same time. That doesn't take away from how fun and memorable it was, but I don't think they can come close to repeating it without some substantial moves this off-season.1 point

Let’s not forget that this game was NOT over after the GS. I assumed it would be when it happened. But the Tigers continued to threaten. That changeup to Tork up in the zone with runners on… Jesus. I really thought he was going to do something there. He looked confident. But that pitch. Several times during the rest of the game I thought they’d come back to tie it. That’s why this team and year was special. They didn’t give up. The score didn’t tell the story.1 point

Yup. 2006 is what I think of when watching this playoff run. Just the context that 2006 happened in. In 2003 we were the laughing stock of sports. In 2004, we signed Pudge. Guys like Dmitri Young, Carlos Guillen, and Pudge made 2004 fun to watch but clearly we didn't have the pieces to make a winning team. In 2005, we got Ordonez and had a promising start to the season, but there was a lot of clubhouse drama and in general, was a less fun year than 2004, and a step backwards. In 2006, Kenny Rogers was our big free agent signing and nobody had any expectations. But Chris Shelton came out of the gate like the second coming of Babe Ruth, Bonderman, Maroth and Robertson were pitching WAY over their heads. Rogers was a fantastic mentor. Verlander starting to come into his own. Nobody expected anything, and suddenly we were tearing the league up. Coming out of nowhere and beating the Yankees in the ALDS was something I don't think any Tigers fan will ever forget, especially when the team came out and partied with the fans. Seemed like such a down to earth team, relatable to the fans and nobody in their wildest dreams expected it. Anyway that's precisely what the 2024 tigers reminded me of.1 point

I'm pulling for the Gribe to take it all. From here on out, they'll get the exact same treatment from the sports media that the Tigers would've, and I want them to shove it in all of their faces.1 point

Extremely flawed is a good way of putting it. They got an awful lot of mileage out of this team which was unexpected. Making the team better and not just expecting it to mature is really important.1 point
