I'm not religious but I was raised Catholic so I know the teachings of Jesus. How can any Trump supporter claim to be Christian? He allows people to be the worst version of themselves through misogyny, ignorance and hate. They can insult, harrass and bully whoever they want and they love him for it. Last night fans booed Taylor Swift at the super bowl. Trump said finally people are healing. By harrassing a woman? He's made comments about other women recently as well. Wasn't he supposed to protect women whether they liked it or not? His narcissism has replaced Christianity. Is that not the definition of the antichrist?5 points

the 1st half was fun just to see KC get their hat handed to them after escaping so many games they could/should have lost this season. The 2nd half was definitely a snooze fest other than the Mahomes bombs at the end. I was at least a bit surprised/disappointed in Andy Reid though. He has one of the most escapable QBs in the NFL and hardly rolled him out or reversed or screened, or basically did anything to try to freeze the Philly D-line penetration. Maybe he decided they were too over matched for anything to work.2 points

Jalen Duren will end being the ultimate what does he make guy. He has zero range on offense. 68% of his FGA’s are inside of 3 feet. 99.94% of his FGA’s are within 10 feet. The tip ins on offensive rebounds are obviously all his. But any other point he scores is due to Cade or someone else setting him up. He is one of the best lob catchers in the league. Has amazingly soft hands, great hand-eye coordination, and has a lot of range when catching a lob. That has a lot of value, especially to #2 and keeping #2 happy is important. On defense I think his post play and drop coverage have improved a bit. I bet his rim protection stats are also better. But in space on the perimeter, he is one of the worst big men defenders in the league. This will be even more important come playoff time. Big men that cannot defend in space get exposed and benched in the playoffs. To start the year, he still had some effort issues. I think since around the Holidays his effort level has been fantastic. He needs to get smarter about using his fouls. Bigs need to use their fouls around the rim to prevent and 1’s. Stop picking up dumb fouls 70 feet from the basket or setting a stupid moving screen. It would be great to make the playoffs this year so we can see how he handles playoff basketball.2 points

Mahomes went down real hard on an early sack. Head slammed into the turf. No way of knowing if that impacted his play but it didn’t help. Anyway my preference has always been to build the defensive line from the inside out. Don’t get me wrong, I love Hutch on the outside, but if you have an overpowering defensive tackle, there is little an offense can do to stop it.1 point

I'd like it for a couple of reasons. First it's always cool to watch your team in prime time games, secondly I feel week 1 is more volatile than any other week, especially now that teams rarely play their starters in preseason so if you have to play an elite team on the road the first week would probably give you the best chance to pull an upset.1 point

“It’s a real estate deal” - Which to Trump this means borrow all the money to develop the project, suck all they can out of it over 5 years, and then purposely bankrupt it to exit without having to pay what’s still owed.1 point

That's really disappointing. Not because I care about the Mavs, but just because I wish he was still on the Lakers if he was going to miss a lot of games.1 point

Lee Strobel worked for the Chicago Tribune and did write a book on the Pinto trial. I remember him from our brief time attending Willow Creek Church in the Chicago suburbs where he was among the pastors. As an aside, I owned two Pintos. Fortunately neither one was involved in an accident. They did provide relatively cheap, dependable transportation in the early and mid 70s.1 point

Sorry... I'm a few days late to the BPA/positional need discussion, but here's my two cents: There is not a team out there who drafts ONLY on BPA or ONLY on positional need. Anyone who solely did this would be out of a job quickly (unless they were working for WCF of course). Every GM, every team will fall somewhere on a sliding scale between those two things. (There's probably many other factors as well... things like Lockerroom fit, off the field issues, etc. etc. etc. For simplicity's sake we'll lump those into BPA as I'd say those help define who the "best" player is at the time of the draft.) So no... Brad Holmes does not draft strictly BPA. No one does, and no one should. Just like no one should draft strictly based on positional need. When I (or others if I may be so bold as to assume what others are thinking) say that Holmes drafts BPA I mean that he leans very far over to the BPA side of things. If we take a 1-10 scale and say 1 = Strictly BPA and 10 = strictly positional need, I'd say Holmes sits at 2 or maybe 3. I'd say most teams are probably closer to the middle and I'd say that most 'talking heads' tend to evaluate who a team should draft much closer to 7 or 8 (not that talking heads matter to teams of course). To @buddha's point earlier: Yes, if you have two players with very similar grades but one fits a hole and the other is an area of strength, you absolutely take the one who fits the hole. Where I think Holmes differs here is where that line is. Using an arbitrary 1-100 scale... if player A is a 91 but player B is 85 and fills a need I think many GMs will take player B. I think most media will say you should take player B. I think Holmes will say: "I want player A." I think player B would need to be closer to 88 or 89 before Holmes would be swayed by positional need.1 point

Those Coinstar machines at the Grocery store are great. The key is to use the option to get your money in a gift card. They don’t charge any fees for it and they have just about anything you could think of.1 point

Coinstar will let you donate a significant portion of the funds to charity. Cash in coins at Coinstar. Donate your coins at Coinstar to help others I don't see Elon Musk's checkbook listed as one of the charities but i'm sure the racist interns will add that soon.1 point

Feb 9, 1773 William Henry Harrison was born. 9th US president and first to die in office. Also the shortest term, just a month. It was legend that he got pneumonia from not wearing an overcoat and getting sick from the rain during his inauguration. Later investigations determined it was septic shock due to poor sanitation. his death creates a crisis as it wasn’t a sure thing whether the VP became president or just carried out the duties as “acting president”. The cabinet resisted until the chief Justice confirmed he’s a real president if he takes the oath of office and congress passed a resolution confirming Tippecanoe is responsible for Detroit being a part of the US instead of Canada. He negotiated the treaty of springwells at Ft Wayne in Detroit which established peace with the Indians and granted pardons.1 point

I liked what Kelser mentioned about how Thompson and Holland give an on court energy similar to Rodman and Salley. I’ve had that thought about Holland for a while. Thompson, while it never occurred to me, I see what he’s saying there, too. I’m just happy to see him recover from a disappointing rookie season.1 point

My. take on this: I’m sure the agents and the union are in lockstep in holding the line on asking salaries. If one contract is signed for less than asking that can have a direct negative effect on another free agents market standing. One contract signing will have an influence, good or bad, depending, on other contracts. I believe some of these players would be willing to take less than their agents are asking but the agents and union know that to give an inch on one deal will impact future contracts in the future.1 point

I hate the SuperBowl. It's all commercials and singing and dancing. Now, that nobody invites me to Patriots Super Bowl parties anymore, there is no reason to watch. Getting millions of people to tune in specifically to watch commercials is one of the biggest scams in US history.1 point

Local First World problems, the county has cut off water for the next six hours or so as contractors install a water line into the building site of a new subdivision. FB and Nextdoor is going crazy, I just consider it practice for the next four years or so. The HOA really needs to install portajohns on every street in the community1 point
