Heading onto the road shortly to make the 2hr 45m drive down to Safeco Field, or I guess it's called T-Mobile now. Have been to many games there but never with the roof closed, which I assume they'll do today. First time in the States in 2025 so in case Peace Arch border officials stop me and read my phone, let me just state for the record ... God bless America and I hereby swear I am not and never have been a friend, family member or associate of former governor Trudeau, what a looser.4 points

The tariff rates don’t matter. They aren’t real. It’s all another grift. The markets will crash tomorrow and maybe Tuesday giving the billionaire class that sold weeks ago time to buy in again at a lower price. Trump will once again pause the tariffs in a few days under the guise of other countries giving in to his greatness. The markets will quickly rebound giving the elites a massive windfall. With the Hawks loss today, the Pistons’ magic number is now down to 1. They are in the playoffs with one more win, or one more loss for both the Hawks and Magic.3 points

I called John James office this time. I got in touch with a woman and said I was calling to do a welfare check since I hadn't seen nor heard from John James in a long time. She read a script about how he's working hard for the district. I asked if she could send a proof of life like a picture of him holding today's newspaper. I then said if his whereabouts are confidential, he can message me on Signal. The conversation kind of died out after that.2 points

if the wings are going to "build through the draft" then at some point they actually need to play the players they've drafted. or just admit you drafted the wrong players. wallinder/buium should be due to come next season or be traded for someone who can help. cossa should be here. danielson needs to be here. asp/mbn will likely be in GR but should also be worthy of spots on the team. i understand the seider/raymond timeline he wants to be on. but if that's the case then why not just tank until next season? maybe that's what they were doing all along by calling up watson and bringing back petry and making no deadline moves? its frustrating, but NEXT season is the real litmus test, imo. they have money. they have prospects. they have picks. if you want to build around seider/raymond then go out and make an offer sheet to someone who is cap strapped like st louis did this year. i dont think you'll get marner but are you willing to bid $13m for 7 years to get him? or are we in for another year of washed up vets on small deals to "bide time" for the draft picks to get here? i'm more patient than most, but next year needs to see some youth AND some improvement. maybe stevie doesnt go, but i dont see what draper, cleary, fischer, lidstrom, kronwall and the rest of the front office have done to prove they should stay. yzerman built a stanley cup winning organization, what have those other guys done off the ice to deserve the benefit of the doubt? what IS this team? are they puck possession? are they big and strong? are they defense first? are they offense first? or are they just a collection of players who agreed to sign here? i dont see a plan.2 points

I ended up subscribing to the Root Sports app. I like to watch the Mariners live sometimes after the Tigers finish and this is the only way (unless you go the cable route, which I dumped years ago). Really hate that the Tigers only trip to Seattle this year was in March. But went last night and glad I did.2 points

That was an emotional last hour by Booker. The record by that klansman is broken. I am so proud of my senator.2 points

Someone on Reddit said this, so no clue if it is true. They said OKC could take all the games they won by less than 10 and count them as losses. They would be 49-26 and the #1 seed in the west still.1 point

Be pretty amazing if the two 1/1's we wrote off last year as washouts lead us to the playoffs1 point

I'm reaching out to the Benson and McMorrow campaigns about job or volunteer opportunities. Maybe it would be better if I became part of a campaign and learned a little more. I haven't seen anyone declare for MI-10 yet.1 point

I had been coy about where I work since I didn't want to share too much personal stuff, but since that is coming to an end, I worked at Flagstar Bank for 13 years. I work in the risk and compliance area and basically did reporting for them primarily on customer feedback and insights. Identifying risk and compliance issues, efficiency opportunities, and just general customer support improvements. A couple years ago, Flagstar merged with New York Community Bank. NYCB was highly leveraged in commercial properties in Manhattan and multi-family housing in New York. COVID, which this merger was done during COVID, crashed the commercial market. New York's rent control crashed the multi-family housing. NYCB was a state-chartered bank and we were going to state chartered. The regulator for state-chartered banks, FDIC, didn't approve the merger because of how highly leveraged with bad assets NYCB was. Since Flagstar was federally chartered, they changed the merger agreement were NYCB merged with Flagstar and became federally chartered to get a different regulator, OCC, who approved this merger. This again is why we need regulation. If that wasn't bad enough, when Silicon Valley Bank went belly up, Signature Bank did to. Flagstar decided to buy that. The issue was it pushed Flagstar to over $100 billion in assets. That's a big deal because it makes it a category 4 bank and the CFPB requires a lot of reserve capital for big banks. Well, Flagstar didn't have it because it grew too fast too quickly. It then had to write down some billion dollar loses in New York real estate, so the company posted a surprise loss. The stock tanked quicker than Tesla. The CEO was essentially fired. Private equity bailed it out. It's basically right-wing equity firms. Steve Mnuchin is on the board and Joseph Otting, Trump's OCC his first term, is the CEO. They sold the mortgage servicing business and everything of value. They announced today they are also outsourcing the call center. They are basically preparing the company to be sold. I should have bailed a while ago, but I get a nice severance package. Didn't mean to go into a history of the company but it cathartic being able to tell the story on how this company ****ed up royally. Everything was going well before the merger, and it was a great place to work for. The funny thig is, despite being run by right-wingers, they still kept DEI.1 point

Is NIL money playing a part in his decision? If he's getting paid already, he might view another year at MSU as being preferable to shuttling between Toledo and Grand Rapids on an entry level deal.1 point

Tarik is going to put a beatdown on the Mariners and the Tiger bats will have a big day today!!1 point

I wish the radio and the picture on my screen synced up, i like Dan too. But I have to admit, Jason makes me laugh every game. He even mentioned that the Tigers have had an Emerson, Lake and Palmer play for them. 😅😅1 point

That’s a consideration. But of more immediate interest, when I cross at the Peace Arch tomorrow morning on the way to the game do I still need to show my passport? Or is it like walking from Germany into France now.1 point

I emailed John James the election results from tonight. I reminded him in 2022 he only won by 0.5%. Also pointed out that Wisconsin shows that Elon Musk can't save him either.1 point

I will get physically angry if I start seeing people discuss turnout and all the other numbers ahead of the vote counting for these elections tonight... yeah we saw that in November that it doesn't mean jack ****. Just wait until the votes are counted. No photos of "long lines" and all that crap.1 point
