  1. Heading onto the road shortly to make the 2hr 45m drive down to Safeco Field, or I guess it's called T-Mobile now. Have been to many games there but never with the roof closed, which I assume they'll do today. First time in the States in 2025 so in case Peace Arch border officials stop me and read my phone, let me just state for the record ... God bless America and I hereby swear I am not and never have been a friend, family member or associate of former governor Trudeau, what a looser.

  2. The tariff rates don’t matter. They aren’t real. It’s all another grift. The markets will crash tomorrow and maybe Tuesday giving the billionaire class that sold weeks ago time to buy in again at a lower price. Trump will once again pause the tariffs in a few days under the guise of other countries giving in to his greatness. The markets will quickly rebound giving the elites a massive windfall. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

  9. I called John James office this time. I got in touch with a woman and said I was calling to do a welfare check since I hadn't seen nor heard from John James in a long time. She read a script about how he's working hard for the district. I asked if she could send a proof of life like a picture of him holding today's newspaper. I then said if his whereabouts are confidential, he can message me on Signal. The conversation kind of died out after that.

  11. if the wings are going to "build through the draft" then at some point they actually need to play the players they've drafted. or just admit you drafted the wrong players. wallinder/buium should be due to come next season or be traded for someone who can help. cossa should be here. danielson needs to be here. asp/mbn will likely be in GR but should also be worthy of spots on the team. i understand the seider/raymond timeline he wants to be on. but if that's the case then why not just tank until next season? maybe that's what they were doing all along by calling up watson and bringing back petry and making no deadline moves? its frustrating, but NEXT season is the real litmus test, imo. they have money. they have prospects. they have picks. if you want to build around seider/raymond then go out and make an offer sheet to someone who is cap strapped like st louis did this year. i dont think you'll get marner but are you willing to bid $13m for 7 years to get him? or are we in for another year of washed up vets on small deals to "bide time" for the draft picks to get here? i'm more patient than most, but next year needs to see some youth AND some improvement. maybe stevie doesnt go, but i dont see what draper, cleary, fischer, lidstrom, kronwall and the rest of the front office have done to prove they should stay. yzerman built a stanley cup winning organization, what have those other guys done off the ice to deserve the benefit of the doubt? what IS this team? are they puck possession? are they big and strong? are they defense first? are they offense first? or are they just a collection of players who agreed to sign here? i dont see a plan.

  14. I ended up subscribing to the Root Sports app. I like to watch the Mariners live sometimes after the Tigers finish and this is the only way (unless you go the cable route, which I dumped years ago). Really hate that the Tigers only trip to Seattle this year was in March. But went last night and glad I did.

  23. I had been coy about where I work since I didn't want to share too much personal stuff, but since that is coming to an end, I worked at Flagstar Bank for 13 years. I work in the risk and compliance area and basically did reporting for them primarily on customer feedback and insights. Identifying risk and compliance issues, efficiency opportunities, and just general customer support improvements. A couple years ago, Flagstar merged with New York Community Bank. NYCB was highly leveraged in commercial properties in Manhattan and multi-family housing in New York. COVID, which this merger was done during COVID, crashed the commercial market. New York's rent control crashed the multi-family housing. NYCB was a state-chartered bank and we were going to state chartered. The regulator for state-chartered banks, FDIC, didn't approve the merger because of how highly leveraged with bad assets NYCB was. Since Flagstar was federally chartered, they changed the merger agreement were NYCB merged with Flagstar and became federally chartered to get a different regulator, OCC, who approved this merger. This again is why we need regulation. If that wasn't bad enough, when Silicon Valley Bank went belly up, Signature Bank did to. Flagstar decided to buy that. The issue was it pushed Flagstar to over $100 billion in assets. That's a big deal because it makes it a category 4 bank and the CFPB requires a lot of reserve capital for big banks. Well, Flagstar didn't have it because it grew too fast too quickly. It then had to write down some billion dollar loses in New York real estate, so the company posted a surprise loss. The stock tanked quicker than Tesla. The CEO was essentially fired. Private equity bailed it out. It's basically right-wing equity firms. Steve Mnuchin is on the board and Joseph Otting, Trump's OCC his first term, is the CEO. They sold the mortgage servicing business and everything of value. They announced today they are also outsourcing the call center. They are basically preparing the company to be sold. I should have bailed a while ago, but I get a nice severance package. Didn't mean to go into a history of the company but it cathartic being able to tell the story on how this company ****ed up royally. Everything was going well before the merger, and it was a great place to work for. The funny thig is, despite being run by right-wingers, they still kept DEI.

  24. Coming into the season...I thought they could regress a bit this year after losing Perron and Ghost..esp on the pp. Ironically...the PP has been better this year, even though Gustafson and Tarasenko were not suitable replacements for Ghost and Perron. Ras, Compher and while he was here, Veleno all backslide a bit. Those issues have lead to a crippling lack of 5 on 5 scoring. Couple that with the inexplicably horrible PK and lack of consistent goaltending and you get a team that will miss the playoffs. On the bright side...Edvinsson has been decent and shows a lot of potential...Kasper has shown more offense than his detractors thought he would and Johansson has shown he's a viable 2nd or 3rd pairing dman. Not gonna be much better next year unless we find a legit wing to roll on the top line with Larkin and Raymond to provide more scoring. I hope they can bring Kane back..or they'll need another wing for the second line. They also need a better LHD for the top pairing. You would hope guys like Danielson,Cosa, Wallinder et al...would get a shot. Would like to Watson up here as well...I think he bring an edge that this team really lacks. .

  31. My question on Kahnle was related to hitters being able to adjust to a pitch they see over and over. I had assumed he was throwing them with some (perhaps) subtle differences. But the speed wasn’t different. Maybe subtle grip changes so it drops more/less or tails differently? Mariano throwing cutter after cutter, but having it do slightly different things. I think he varied the speed though.

  33. That is the exact reason why Fanduel is even worse than bally. The screen is messy at the bottom the same way, and at least half of what they show down there are prop bet odds. It's even more aggravating because Tigers had a chance to cast their broadcast lot with MLB, who run a clean screen that's free of gambling detritus. The Guardians, Twins, Rangers, D-Backs and Padres have all abandoned Bally/FanDuel and hooked up with MLB, and that could have been us.

  41. Hey, I think a lot of us now realize that Avila had an eye for talent, but no idea about the right way or staff to develop the talent. If Al had the current method/coaches, some of the guys that missed, might not have missed. I worried that it was both not recognizing AND not developing because the track record for position players going all the way back to Randy Smith was dismal. That includes Dombrowski who painted over his failures with fat contracts and a desperate-to-win owner. We all bemoan Chris Illitch as cheap, but hold on - he is spending, but not really on the payroll side of it. They are taking a bit of the Rays approach, but they can't go full Rays because Tiger fans would not tolerate it the way the limited Tampa fanbase does. If they get close, I mean 1 or 2 players away, he may spend the money to go for it. We're just nowhere near that right now. I know we have Max, Kevin, Thayron and Bryce on the way, but we need to be honest with ourselves - if we go 2 for 4 there, we're doing better than most teams would. Best case is probably 1 player is a star and 2 of those other 3 are serviceable major leaguers. Wish it wasn't like that, but it pretty much is.

That's just stupid.
