I made the mistake of getting on one of the many Tigers related Facebook groups today and it makes me even more grateful for this forum given the low level of what passes for “discussion“ often times among the unwashed masses. And the problem is not so much the articles posted but the comment section. For a lot of people the solution to this team is the guillotine for everyone. There’s actually people who hate Verlander because they think he left the Tigers to sign a bigger contract elsewhere and they don’t know that he was traded. And people make these comments with a confident triumphalism that’s bewildering and almost makes me feel unclean. This place is Plato’s Academy compared to Facebook. It’s nice to be able to rub shoulders with all of you, or at least most of you. 😉

Anyone watch The Pitt? Outstanding. I went in thinking "Oh, another hospital show" None have measured up to St. Elsewhere to me. The Pitt blows it away. Covered a lot of different issues in 15 hours.

I was really glad to see JB be flexible in his rotation and go with Stew. KAT went 2 for 7 against him (29%), which means he was 8 for 12 against Duren (67%). If we get the Knicks in the first round, you have to ride Stew against KAT and Duren versus Robinson. The opposite matchups would be a nightmare on both counts because Duren can't guard KAT and Stew is going to struggle to keep Robinson off the glass with the size difference. Also happy to see Fontecchio didn't get any run in the 2nd half and only played a handful of minutes in the first half. In the playoffs his minutes should be eliminated completely. He's been trash all season and it's looking like last year was the anomaly, not that he's just having a down year this year. In '23 he shot 33% from three and this year he's shooting 33% from three. His 40% last year was like Frank Jackson's fool's gold from 2021.

Whitmer handled Trump so much better during COVID. Trump doesn't negotiate in good faith and there are no people this time around who can push him in the right direction. I know there's a tendency to downplay any bad news for Trump, but I think the damage the tariffs are doing to him politically is being undersold right now... in day-to-day life, it's a lot of what people are talking about, even to the point where car dealerships are running ads mentioning their "tariff free sales".... which gives me "cash for clunkers" vibes

If she’s really still fighting him, this would mark the first time in history that he’s spoke glowingly about someone that is vigorously against him.

Unfortunately, the Governor of Michigan can’t do a thing to influence Trump or his decisions. Nobody can. There was nothing that being with him in DC did to help her constituents. The best way she could’ve helped was to stay home and nor be an actor in his show.
