as the child of an alcoholic parent i have ZERO tolerance for this jive. I do not put up with it from coworkers. There are not two sets of rules: those for the lovable drunk and those for everyone else. F'em all to Hell.3 points

People like Hogg are just disinterested in building a governing coalition. US politics are so screwed. On the GOP side you have a party that doesn't care about right vs wrong at all - only winning. On the DEM side you have people who care so much about being right it excludes any possibility of actually building anything that looks like a winning coalition. Pretty clear why one side is winning more elections.3 points

I get Taco Bell every Sunday for my 95 year old mom. I use the mobile app. I go in... there's a shelf for mobil orders. They do not put them there. I get that. People probably take what's not theirs because they are idiots and can't read. No issue there. My order sits on top of a thing about 10 feet away. I walk in. Not one person makes eye contact. All they have to do is just hand me that bag. That's it. Everyone doing their thing in their silo. Usually I get it from one guy making food who is smart enough to recognize he sees me every week with the same order at 1 pm. He's going places. When I worked cust service and retail we were taught to always ackowledge the customer even if you can't immediately help them. Just say Hi, be right with you. The flip side to that is people are rude and will then expect them to stop helping the customer they are working with to address THEIR issue because it's all about them. So consider that a broad peeve on both sides. We can't have nice things beacuse people are idiots all around.2 points

In fairness to Henning, a lot of folks on this forum were googly eyed about him after a torrid start in Toledo a few years ago.1 point

BTW I believe this game is on nationally on FS1, that's what it says on ESPN's website anyway. If so I think any of you guys outside of the Detroit market can watch them if you have the station.1 point

That's what I was wondering, whether Baez will see a lot a lot more CF. Jace Jung is not coming up to be a DH—that's Colt Keith's job. 😁 So I am guessing he's going to get a lot of reps at third, and probably a few at second.1 point

I think he'll be fine if he doesn't kill himself against the wall. The guy can flat out catch baseballs, that talent really has never been in doubt.1 point

I have to say, short of getting a Trey Hendrickson or similar caliber, top-tier player, I don't understand trading Jaymo now. We're in a Super Bowl window to win the Lombardi now and trading one of our top offensive weapons, and one of our only deep threats, doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think Jaymo adds too much value to this offense to be shipped off for future assets or a 2nd/3rd round pick that may not be an immediate contributor. Unless we get a high end current NFL player as part of a Jaymo trade, I'll be disappointed if he's traded this offseason.1 point

I feel like the time to trade him may be next year. Let him put up another good season and get a 1st. When you draft as well as the Lions, You are going to have to make tough decisions and can't keep everybody.1 point

Would it be too much for Susan Collins and few other “moderate” senators to do a better job of oversight for whoever Trump dredges up as a replacement. Maybe start off questioning with “ In view of the previous Sec. being an incompetent, lying POS, why should I take a word you say at face value”?. Okay, might need to soften that a little.1 point

At first I thought…$30,000,000!!! Are they freakin’ crazy! Then I saw FREE SHIPPING, so it’s all good.1 point

Lmao wow, wah wah maybe if the team wasn't already on a losing streak and out of a playoffs spot going into the deadline it would have made sense to pay the silly prices for mediocre players at the deadline. Take a look in the mirror, what a subpar captain he's turned out to be.1 point

Neither of us is going to convince the other guy here, so all I can say is, as little as it matters to me personally, if the candidate coming out of the Democratic convention is not white and/or not a man and/or not cis and/or not “Christian”, my concern is that it will lose them enough votes on the margins to cost them the election. And given how the middle ground of thinking on issues of identification is likely to shift between now and 2028, that marginal loss of votes may be even more likely than it was in 2024 or 2016.1 point

Mantle told a story about an all-star game and Ted Williams gave him a lot of specific advice on hitting. Mantle said he tried it and went 0-20, so he just went back to trying to barrel up every ball1 point

I used to work at a place on Sunday mornings and we had the same thing on Sundays. Post church, a widower. You could tell it was a big part of his day. There he'd come in his brown suit, beautiful white head of hair. Always in the same seat.1 point

We just finished seeing Adolescence and I can see why people might think this is an odd show, and also, why the tomatometer laps the popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. We as TV viewers are generally conditioned to approach shows like this as a whodunit, and this show upends those expectations. Even toward the end of the second episode, we were still speculating that the murderer might end up being someone else. But that’s not the point of the show at all. The point is to examine the effect of social media, toxic masculinity (or as they say on the show, the “manosphere”), bullying, and the rise of incel culture on society as it relates to teens and the adults around them. They even name-checked Andrew Tate during the show. It was not a black and white show. Nobody was 100% bad or 100% good, not even the angel-faced victim, which some might even find offensive and maybe even victim-blamey. Adolescence was as nuanced an examination of issues along these lines as I have ever seen. But then, I love that kind of show because it tries to get at what makes someone or something tick rather than, again, whodunit. And you’re right about the end. I started getting really verklempt during it.1 point

When you have your star up with the bases loaded late in the game with a chance to add on BIG and do not the Baseball gods will find Baez er you. And to be fair Tork probably should of made that scoop but still just hit him in the chest.1 point

The Pistons were up by 4 when this flagrant foul wasn't called. It changed the momentum;1 point

Also could be that guys who have more offensive struggles get more coaching and more analysis, therefore they have a better idea of how to adjust and approach and work through mechanics and slumps. A guy like Miggy was always a top level hitter, but it seemed to be so natural to him that perhaps he cant explain it to someone who needs a lot of work.1 point

As bad as Cade was, if they play defense they win this game. They can win scoring 112 points a game. They can't win giving up 123.1 point

IF it wasn't for those guys the Pistons would have lost by 30. They were fantastic most of the game then ran out of gas in the 4th1 point

While I don't disagree about MTG. I was a bit more concerned about Trumpublican Storm Troopers tasering anyone who dares to object at Town Hall "meetings" These are the same folks applauding convicted felons from 1/6 getting off scott free (and celebrated) while applauding deportments without even a mock trial.1 point
