I think we are kidding ourselves if we don't think college sports died sometime in the last 20 years. When that exactly happened is probably up for debate but this isn't our father's college sports anymore. They're just finally getting around to burying the body.2 points

I think he has pushed Vest a bit too much, probably because Beau and Holton haven’t been stellar. Good to see Lee handle things.2 points

This piece of **** literally said a week ago Democrats are a threat to democracy and elections he lost by millions of votes were not fair elections. **** him and everybody who supports this asshole.2 points

Two percent of voters is not going to destroy an entire political party—not even the Democratic Party. Please let's stop pretending that the far left is just as dangerous as the far right, because the numbers just aren't there. And not only is it not similar in scope, it's not even similar in kind. I'll start to consider they are equivalent in kind when far leftists storm the Capitol, threaten lawmakers' lives, kill Capitol cops, and then all get pardoned by a far leftist Democratic president.2 points

In a spiritual context, squirrels often symbolize preparation for the future, a balance between work and play, and finding joy in the mundane. They can represent the importance of saving and planning, but also the ability to be flexible and adaptable when life throws unexpected curveballs. Additionally, squirrels can be seen as messengers, intuitives, and possessors of a quiet wisdom. This fits the 2025 Tiger bullpen well.1 point

Speaking of May 28th, last year it was June 25th before the Tigers won their 37th game.1 point

Difference in the game is that the Tigers had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 5th and when it got to 2 outs 2 strikes JHM singled them home, but when the Giants had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 8th and it go to 2 outs 2 strikes the batter bounced out.1 point

To avoid spreading my bad karma, I’m going to watch what I understand is a bad movie the new Captain America Brave New World film, which is now streaming on Disney+. Good luck!1 point

My son is going to the Tigers @ Chicago WSox next Thursday. Skubal should be pitching. He didn't even use a gofundme page..😅😅1 point

yes, but also no - Kenta Maeda was always going to be released and they could have done it in November1 point

The NFL would make the perfect partner. They should all come together to create the next iteration of the NFL’s player development program. F the Big 12, ACC, G5, and especially Notre Dame.1 point

This boarders a bit on investing, but could get too political. https://www.axios.com/2025/05/28/ai-jobs-white-collar-unemployment-anthropic?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_axiosam&stream=top So what do you do if you're a 45 year old civil engineer, for example. Your speciality revolves around environmental design or something similar where you are basically designing drainage systems for residential and office space? Where do you take your career? To me it's reminiscent of the 80s and early 90s when broadcasting companies decided it was "too expensive" to hire local announcers and it was easier to buy into automation systems, satellite networks and voice tracking. Leaving many smaller communities without local information sources. The same thing was happening with newspapers. Just one of the things I wonder about when I'm awake at 2 AM1 point

I mean, I get it, but is he going to play over Rogers or Dingler? While the bat would be nice, he's a negative on defense based on metrics, so I agree that I don't love losing people in the Rule 5; it's what happens when you're a good team. Lucky for us, we are also not hurting on the catcher front for prospects with Jimenez, Briceno, Liranzo.1 point

From the MLB app this morning: These April surprises have held up in May The Tigers’ offense is legit Much like last year, when the Tigers made a shocking late-season turnaround to reach the playoffs, their pitching staff appeared to be the clear strength of the team heading into 2025. After Detroit fell short in its pursuit of free-agent third baseman Alex Bregmanover the winter, the club entered the season with much of the same lineup that scored the 11th-fewest runs in MLB a year ago. But while the Tigers have again been effective at run prevention, it’s not the pitching that’s driving their rise to the top of the AL standings -- it’s the offense. (OK, Tarik Skubalhas been pretty awesome, too.) Getting unexpected contributions from Spencer Torkelson, Javier Báez and Zach McKinstry, Detroit’s offense ranks fourth in the Majors in runs per game (5.07) this season, and only the Cubs and Dodgers have scored more runs in May.1 point

I like that the Tigers don't have a scripted HR celebration. How gritty can you really be if you script your celebrations?1 point

https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/with-college-sports-in-limbo-and-key-issues-coming-to-a-head-the-spotlight-is-on-the-sec-its-going-to-get-heated-130018106.html basically college sports is going to be dead soon. the sec and big ten are already in discussions to break away. stuff we've been predicting for a while here. the big ten and sec make the most money. they dont want to keep subsidizing the other leagues and eventually they wont. theyre already in talks with private equity firms to break away. people ask why the other leagues would allow the big ten and sec to run everything now so it benefits them? because they could leave and form their own league and leave the other leagues with very little. i wonder when notre dame will wise up and join up with the big ten?1 point

Massive changes are coming very soon. The court settlement has gone back and forth but it sounds like they have appeased the judge and it should be signed any day and things will happen in time for this season. These changes include: Forming a new commission solely to rule College Football. Naming a Commissioner that will have power over everything. $21M limit on spending on players that schools must follow. Independent Clearinghouse to vet every outside NIL deal to ensure they are legit. All rule enforcement to be handled by the commission. They are trying to get subpoena authority, which the NCAA never had. $2.8B in back payments to players from 2016-2024. This is a lot of stuff to get done in a few months but apparently the Commissioner search has been going on behind the scenes for months and they are ready to name them as soon as the settlement is signed by the judge.1 point

The best part of my day is when I come home and she comes outside, immediately runs over and jumps on that patio chair and waits for me and then gives me a great big hug. Even though I really love my job and rarely come home in a bad mood, but it just makes everything okay for a little bit.1 point
