  1. Boras to Cohen: Steve, next Winter I look forward to discussing Tarik's free agency with you and the Mets. Obviously, it would not be appropriate to discuss any terms while he is under control of the Tigers, but he did mention that he loves coming to NY for award season, and getting bagels at his favorite store at 440 10th Avenue. That's 440 and 10, Steve. If you are interested, go to 440 and 10, Steve.

  3. Also, you would think a fair amount has changed in positional value over the past 10 years. Teams seem to be much better at defensive positioning, even post shift, which has allowed lesser fielders to perform better. I would think that would reduce some of the extra value certain positions truly should get.

  4. Imagine voting for this guy. How can one look themselves in the mirror defending a pedo?

  5. Do our beat writers know Tobias is on the team? He has missed 6 games now and nobody has yet to ask about a timeline for his return?

  6. Got a text from work at 3 pm with a picture of stuff that 'needed to be put away now.' I work from Sunday-Thursday. So I wasn't at work today. Our work shift is 6-2:30, so even if I was at work today I would have been gone. Sigh. I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to a foot surgery-which will have me on leave for 10 weeks of much needed rest. I already had the other foot done, so I have a good idea of what's to come. Knee scooters are awesome!

  7. Not suggesting that, just that he would be part of a platoon there if they got another OF without moving him.

  8. the rise and fall of the shift would seem to be reason to re-evaluate everything regarding fielding. Ironically, even with the modified shift, good fielding corner IF's may have had their value rise since they are often left with a lot more ground to cover than back in the day.

  10. but look at what they did LAST year in almost winning 70 games. and this year they could be just as good or better considering how young their roster is. amd as betrayer pointed out, they are flush with lottery picks too. we may be looking at a massive dynasty unless they **** up the picks like golden state did with weisman.

  12. I was noodling this earlier: if they do go to some kind of salary cap, then teams that have significant long term deals on the books might get those deals grandfathered in and their caps adjusted to reflect that.

  13. I was making a joke reference to him turning a blind eye to his video coach sexually assaulting his players. I'm personally unwilling to give Q the benefit of any doubt, he's always been this way.

  14. I think there may be more willing to sign long term deals than there are those willing to offer them. Especially if those long term deals are structured with large signing bonuses for the marque FA's/extensions to provide protection to the player during a lockout - could have defferred $ to protect the team - much like the Dodgers have done with their contracts.

  17. Reminds me of Whoopie Goldberg defending Polanski... "it wasn't rape rape...." were her words.

  18. why would a person need to establish a different 'degree' of rape? A person who rapes a 14 year old girl is just as evil as one who rapes a 5 year old girl and their punishments should be equal. To suggest otherwise introduces an element of "Well you can see why they'd do it... they look almost grown... cut them some slack". That's what it is.

  19. A difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old. So if her 15 year old daughter came home and told mom she was sexually abused or raped, Kelly's response would be what? "Meh, you're 15 sweetheart, it's not like you're still 5." JUST ****ING WOW!!!!!!!

  21. This was released earlier this year but not available to stream until now. Given the recent R&R HOF induction it seems relevant. I heard it's going to only be on YouTube for a week. I saw clips over the months but yesterday I got to watch the whole thing. Check it out.

  23. I really hate that kind of crap. You almost wish as soon as he got on the ice, a wing had just taken his skates out from under him and sent him flying. AFAIAC, that's all guys like that should get in the NHL

  24. Real loser stuff to put a goon out with the game over and the teams not seeing each other again this season. Maybe Coach Q didn’t notice who he put out there because he was looking the other way…

  33. Getting back to the hot topic at hand: can I just tell you how surprised I am that MAGA has not simply dismissed the trove of Epstein emails Democrats have released as being a forgery? I mean, how easy would it be to claim that Democrats doctored the documents to remove Clinton's name and add Trump's? Red hats would totally, absolutely, 100% buy that, and it also would sow enough confusion in the marketplace of ideas that independents, uncommitteds, and apathetics would throw up their hands and bail on the story not knowing what to believe. So why aren't the Republicans selling that? And why aren't they releasing doctored documents of their own that removes Trump's name and adds, I don't know, Obama or Pelosi or Newsom or Jeffries or somebody? I know that's a complex job, but I mean, come on, Russia does this **** all the time. They practically invented it! Is someone in St Petersburg asleep at the switch or something?

  34. Man, is this ever ballsy. Tell you what: if the courts see fit to strike down the voter-approved redistricting plan in California while simultaneously upholding all the legislator-drive redistricting plans in all the red states, we are truly good and ****ed. Because at that point everything will be all but officially in the bag for the Republicans to finally realize their goal of make America a one-party fascist state, like Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia or the Jim Crow South.

  36. Considering the youth of our core both up and in the minors it does seem possible to pay one person 40 mil plus and still remain at or below 200 per year. Maybe Skubal was who Greenberg was referring when he said “we are concentrating on pitching “

  37. I swear to God, LaceyLou, the first person, man or woman who speaks to me, face-to-face, and refers to a 13/14/15 year-old as an “underage woman”, I will have a very difficult time not being physical with them. When did decent human beings revert back to this mindset? It’s beyond appalling but additionally , so very depressing.

  38. Please don't take this the wrong way, but seriously....**** off. You're not the savior and everyone that disagrees with you is some stupid inbred racist from 'red' country. Poor urban folks, just like poor rural folks, deserve social programs designed to help them. I didn't call it a hand out, you inferred that on your own. I called it a social program and even stated that not having full access to those only burdens folks further. I'm not as concerned about POC of modest means, because, as I said already, for anyone with modest means, getting an ID isn't that hard and my guess is your percentages go out the window if we reevaluate your statistics based on income rather than race. As for juries, the demographic of your average jury is often not representative of the local demographic. On this site you're aware I often state that fixing issues that affect poor urban folks would also help poor rural folks, and vice versa. When it comes to juries, that is probably the biggest example where helping one doesn't help the other. This disproportionally affects minorities. I'm not going to pretend that only getting State IDs into the hands of all minorities will fix that, but its the first barrier. Getting IDs into everyone's hands eliminates that barrier.

  40. As sick as it is, that is exactly how some parents react. It's not uncommon at all for a mother to stay with a man who rapes her own daughter-she either chooses not to believe it or blames her daughter. I don't understand people. I think I don't want to understand people.

  43. Penn Gaming is one of the big national companies and since they don’t have clever gambling sounding corporate name they need a brand to partner. They started with Barstool and then pivoted to ESPN. Penn are paying ESPN $150M for 10 years plus company stock options for the right to plaster gambling over their entire platform
