  2. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Proctor love is real. Brad loves his athletic freaks and Proctor is one of the freakiest physical specimens in this draft. Dan wants a run game that physically dominates defenses at the line of scrimmage. Proctor is the most dominant run blocker in the draft. You don’t have to pass block very often if you are always in 2nd and 3. But yes, sometimes their visions for how players will develop or fit in are not realized and you don’t want to whiff on a first round player who balloons to 400 pounds.

  3. The social media debates are all just sub-text to the more important question though, which is do the people asking for, vying for your support see any intrinsic value in truth over falsehood? The answer in many cases on both side is, sadly, no. However the big difference is that today, there is NO ONE on the right side in office or running for office who can possible have any remaining regard for truth, it's a logical impossibility to reconcile even a shred of regard for the intrinsic value of truth and still be within a 1000 miles of the today's national GOP. It's just not reconcilable - whether we are talking political truth, scientific truth, journalistic truth, any kind of truth. There are plenty of liars on the Democratic side, but there is still some basic nod to truth in the Democratic party, and that difference is all the difference in the world right now.

  4. The problem is you have a very narrow, and self defined, definition of “the left”. You’ve done this before where you pretend your sides **** doesn’t stink sometimes. And that’s objectively not true. And I say this as an adoptive member of the left. Yet I am sometimes reminded why I previously wasn’t. The idea of “impact” and “reach” isn’t quite relevant because most of the reach by the right is an ideological bubble so whether it’s 10,000 or 1M, the same number of votes take place.

  5. Why is everybody blaming the offense? They are not hitting home runs, but they are 8th in MLB in OBP and 10th in wRC+ The home runs will come when the weather warms up. The real culprit is run prevention: They are 20th in xFIP 21st in fielding This team is built on run prevention. That is where they need to excel. It's been terrible so far.

  10. Well, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer to adopt a new cat. So, meet Jessie - 7 yr old male, 13.5 lbs, brown tabby w/green eyes… who the shelter described as somewhat grumpy. That adjective made me know we were a perfect match. 😁❤️

  15. By the way, Happy Friday, everyone! We are entering that weekly dangerous 12-or-so-hour period during which Trump times his very worst stuff to shield the markets from the immediate effect. So what fresh hell will we be seeing by tomorrow morning?

  16. It is certainly getting crowded down in Grand Rapids. I have to imagine some of them will fill spots vacated by pending free agents: Hamonic (obviously don't need him back) JVR (faded hard down the stretch after providing some nice depth at first) Perron (he's old even if I love his attitude) Kane (I can take or leave him, it is nice to have him on the PP, maybe they re-sign him another year partly in hopes it helps DeBrincat extend) Talbot (Just bring up Cossa already) Wallinder should be up unless he looks absolutely awful in camp, he has to go through waivers and someone would claim him. I don't see any other defenders down there making the jump. Buium's skating seems to still not be NHL level from what I see, I would be shocked if he's ready but I'm often wrong. Anton Johansson is an interesting wild card but still probably gets an AHL year. Danielson, MBN, and maybe Lombardi have a chance to make the team I think for the forwards. Probably not all of them. The NHL free agent class is absolutely awful so I don't know what the Wings will do with a decent amount of roster spots open. I wouldn't mind shooting Rasmussen into the sun to make further room too.

  17. I like Javy in CF and that also gives McGonigle a clear runway at SS and Keith at 3b. Not sold on Wenceel defensively but he'll play if he hits.

  18. Hopefully the democrats learned their lesson about dragging their feet IRT investigations. No way should Trump even have been eligible to run for POTUS. He should have been fighting to stay out of prison, where he belongs. But yeah, running on an investigation platform may turn off some voters. And dont put anything past MAGA when it comes to playing dirty. Desperate people...cornered rats...

  19. Huerter upgraded to probable. Nobody else on the injury report which shocks me a bit. Hopefully everyone keeps their cool.

  20. This is also why I want a silent platform policy for the dems to be, if they secure Congress, investigations will be the biggest priority. If they say it now, I feel like that could turn off some independent voters, but unless people are held accountable for their actions when they have a government position, others will abuse it as well. Put people in jail and then we still have a chance to continue with this democracy thing.

  22. It was a snide remark about how the "news" (Gorbachov's fall from grace) loved that sort of thing. Not taking into account of things like overtime (which manage never gets). Basically just another idiot who did not understand the nature of the industry (at the time). The guy was probably a 9-5 er and didn't understand the real world and Wednesday Nights were not good for our schedule. (actually no weekday really was)

  25. I have it as: 1st round grades (and within Lions reach so not Mauigoa) Fano, Freeling, Lomu, Miller. 2nd round grade: Iheanachor, Proctor, Tiernan And yes... I would pick Iheanachor and his learning curve risk over Proctor and his Aaron Gibson risk. But that's just me.

  26. Yes, I don't like small sample sizes. The pitching should get better. I just see everyone blaming the offense and I think the slow start from the pitching staff and sloppy defense is the bigger problem. I think the hitting will a little better in terms of power but they aren't going to win the division with offense. It is going to have to be pitching.

  27. lol, true, I actually got ticked off on the 5-2 goal. That - and scoring 3 after falling behind 4-0 to Philly and scoring 3 after falling behind 4-1 to Minnesota - makes them look like headcases.

  28. I think i'm leaning towards this as well. Not too often this White House actually thinks strategically, but that tweet by Massie informing the new acting AG that he was on a 30 day time limit, combined with Bondi ignoring her subpoena, I feel like the WH knew Epstein was not going to fade away. So they picked one aspect from the Epstein saga, put that center stage, then after they get their hearing and can speak, the WH can claim they gave them a chance to speak and then attack everything else Epstein as people wanting to live in the past. That said, Trump tends to tell the truth in candid situations. He told a reporter that he had no idea that Melania was going to do that. Of course if it was planned out, that tends to be when he would then just lie to the reporter, so who knows.

  30. I'm not sure how big of an account you look for when it comes to lies from the left. But this is kinda big and has quite a few likes and reposts. And it's another example of lying. I'm sure it isn't the right liking and reposting;

  32. I fondly remember a quote from a keynote speaker for the annual conference of the Pittsburgh, Pa Presbytery. He gave the speech as a sermon to the church we attended over 60 years ago. "I wanted to begin my speech with "My fellow Racketeers"... And that's why I am the way that I am...However I have known a few Pastors in my life that I believe truly heard the call..

  33. I was at school living in a dorm with no tv and very poor radio reception. I was talking to my father on the phone and he told me what Gammons had said about Phillips. They also signed Moseby that same week. I knew they would both starting for the Tigers, but I had no idea how good Phillips would be. They also signed Fielder later in the off-season. The next year they traded for Tettleton. That was an amazing group of acquisitions in a short time. Too bad they had no pitching.

  40. It's kind of funny. Given what is going on in the world today, and so many that are freaked the **** out, which I understand; I have faith in the most swine pieces of **** on the planet - our bankster pigmen of Wall Street. They are still the smartest guys in the room and control the entire financial system. You don't have to like them. They are like AJ Pierzynski. You hate the prick but in this case you are glad he's on your side. If we go to war with the world, militarily or financially, (maybe we are doing that already?) I'm betting on our very own wizards of Wall Street. The pigmen also have to live here (most of them) and don't want to get strung up. I'm hoping they are that smart.

  42. Whatever the case, in today's game, our pitching only gave up 3 runs. A team should win a majority of the games when they only give up 3 runs.

  44. There was always the chance that the real Tiger team was the team we saw in the September and the team we saw in the 1st half was the one not playing to its mean level. Keith seems to be the only guy that has started the season hot and he doesn't hit for the kind of power that can help carry a team past other guys' underperformance.

  45. This is why I have tremendous respect for Dan Dickerson, too. He said Jake was going to lose the challenge, and then, we saw it clip the outermost pixel of the strike zone. Dan says, aw, mannn, this is why I don't like ABS, I'm sorry. The margin for error is 0.22 inches, and that ball was clearly less. So, even though we benefited from the call, he wasn't going to pretend ABS is all well and good after all. He stuck to his principles on ABS. I don't agree with his position on it, but I respect him for sticking to his.
