Decker has a point.  Been a lot of people talking shit about his injury that have no clue what they are talking about.  From a medical perspective and from a football perspective.

Yep, people hear finger injury and they just assume he is being soft but nobody really knows the details behind it or how cumbersome it was in terms of blocking. It may not have been a matter of toughness rather the fact that he couldn't do his job properly and he or management wisely chose to sit out instead of risking the health of his QBs and RBs by having defenders in the backfield constantly.

Boy if only there were outlets that talked to players where players could tell others what is going on.

Nope, I guess we'll all just sit in silence and just see "finger" listed on any reoprt.

Decker is full of **** here. He could have called into Valenti anytime he wanted and explained what was going on. Instead he sits silence and then is mad when the rumor mill goes crazy? No sympthay here.

Players can't have it both ways, they can't sit there and demand privacy for on the field injuries, then when people question it, stay silent, then get mad at what people say.

I guess he's still not actually talking about the injury though,  is he? He's just bitching about people questioning him. But he's not going to move that needle with social media posts anyway. This is the case where "shut up and play" is probably the best advice. Going out and re-establishing yourself as a good football player will quell the fans' doubts better than anything he can post on social media

Also the fact that you think “Call Valenti” is a thing that should ever happen is all the proof one needs.  Stop listening to garbage that’s only purpose is to stir up drama so people listen.  Take a step back and realized you are being spun up.

I don't listen to it. Boy he could have talked to the free press, teh athletic, espn, gotten on Colin Cowherd, etc etc. There's a lot more options than "call valenti"

So he needs to discuss his medical status so this toxic fan base doesn’t go full stupid?  Nah.  Look in the mirror for the problem.  His finger was too injured for him to play.  It’s on the injury report.  Get over yourself.

Like did you read my post at all? Cause its clear you didn't.

Look he doesn't have to disclose anything and I can look at the ijury report. But, then when the rumors start and you do nothing to stop it its seem disingenous to whine about it then. Post it on instagram, talk to a media outlet, all of the whining could have been nipped weeks ago, but he didn't and now is mad it continued. That's BS.

It's like running a business, sometimes saying nothing is OK. Sometimes you need to get ahead of the problem or stop it. Decker played it quiet which is fine. But, then you can't come out and go people are full of crap and they need to shut up when they have to fill in the gaps cause you refused.

One last thought about this game though.....

The reports out now are that Goff supposedly hurt himself on the long throw early in the game. But they just happened to have a new super jumbo run formation prepped for this game because they *hadn't* already committed to Goff not throwing much?

It's also the first game for Decker and Nelson is now the 6th OL. I think they were planning on running more but they really dialed the downfield passing back after that deep shot and were mostly throwing screens.

This, plus the weather forecast for rain/snow mix at 32*... Both teams knew going in it would be a game won (tied) in the trenches and the run game.

I think Decker is just misplacing his frustrations.

He was 'the guy' on the line, and on the team to a large extent. Then the new regime come in and their first draft pick is a guy who plays your position. Then you get hurt on what was likely a very frustrating injury for many of the same reasons questions were raised, and you can't go for half the season. Then the narrative exiting your first game back is how well that rookie performed in his first game at RT.

The fanbase was the easy target for what is likely a lot of internalized frustration over a lot more than what he said.

Well, it would be the sign of a good coaching staff to look at the opposition (Steelers in lower half of the league in rushing yards allowed, 26th in yards per carry), look at your own team (Goff = bad), and at the weather (cold, rainy/snowy) and figure that it might be good to have a run heavy playset for this game.

It's just odd to think that a Lions staff would adjust their game plan this much for these reasons, no?

The Lions were averaging 6 yards a rush, they'd be fools not to continue to run the ball. Also if not for the FG kicking they would've scored 20+ against a really good defense in bad weather conditions. Not exactly the 00 Rams but still that's not bad especially with the amount of clock they were milking.

There are some things to like about the Lions under Campbell and Co, but they run out the worst players at key skills positions like Goff, the receivers, and the Kicker.....these deficiencies have cost them at least a couple of wins....it seems like management is trying to set this team up to fail...maybe that will change starting next year, or the year after that, or whatever the tanking schedule is, but frankly there is no reason for any fans to waste any time on this team until they are clearly intending to win.

It’s a more than little unfortunate they’ve had to deal with all these injuries.   I would really like to have seen how a run heavy offense with Swift and Williams would’ve done behind the projected starting line of Decker, Jackson, Ragnow, Vaitai, and Sewell.    My guess is they would’ve been very effective and would’ve won 3 games at least.

That's sort of my point - that they had pretty much lost confidence in the passing game - or at least in a balanced attack, before Goff even hurt himself on that throw. Maybe he was ailing before, whatever. And no doubt it was a good strategy until Nelson went down and Pittsburgh brought everyone up. Under normal circumstance that's when your QB gashes them for some big plays and puts the game away.

Jared Goff out of practice, Tim Boyle running Lions’ first-string offense

Quick, someone call his doctor and find out all the details!  Maybe they can post any test results for us to evaluate.

so Boyle is ahead of Blough on the depth chart? How do they even tell them apart? They seem to be the same guy.

But he wasn’t hurt, that’s what we were told by other posters here.  Goes to show just how poorly Campbell handled this game on Sunday.   Horrible.

you said he couldnt throw downfield, and yet....he did in overtime.  just as poorly as he usually does.

a football player is sore on monday, news at fucking 11.
