1776 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Bert, I think it’s getting personal. The Tigers have scored more than five runs in a game only once since Sept. 10. Quote

oblong Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Man what a long day yesterday. Every single forecast said the rain would end around 4. We got down into the stadium around 2 so that we would be at least covered when it did rain. As it turned out the heavy rain didn’t really happen down there until after 4. Standing around for 5 hours is hard. I say that as someone who ran 10 miles on Sunday. When we finally went to our seats it was a relief to walk up stairs. the crowd was ready and pumped. More than I expected. I felt good about the game until Naylor worked Flaherty in the second inning. Then that was it. People began filing out in the 8th. I really wanted a Toronto win yesterday. Going back down there this afternoon is going to be a struggle. I’d be surprised if the crowd is into it now. People are tired. Quote
RatkoVarda Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Historic collapse. They have not won at home in over a month. They scored 3, then 2, then 1 run vs. Seattle's core pitching staff. No reason for them to win. At least show some fight guys. Quote
Toddwert Posted October 8 Posted October 8 they win today to drag it out... that just what they do Quote
gehringer_2 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 3 minutes ago, Toddwert said: they win today to drag it out... that just what they do Today we face the classic statistical paradox. For Seattle - a 90 win team, assuming just an average opponent, the odds of winning any three consecutive games is only about 17% but the odds of them winning today are 55%. Quote

1776 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Circumstances being what they are this morning, I’m glad it is Mize over Flaherty in an elimination game. I really don’t have any confidence in Flaherty anymore. He’s reverted back to the same guy the Cardinals lost faith in. Quote
Toddwert Posted October 8 Posted October 8 and then they light up Skubel when everyone gets their hopes up Quote

Casey will hold them scoreless for 3 and Hinch will pull him for Kanhle. 1 Quote

RedTeamGo! Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Mize kinda looks like the illegitimate child of AJ Pierzynski Quote

I think I would rather get blown out than lose in a heartbreaker. They are both terrible outcomes, but to lose (for example) the way Toronto did last night would be excruciating. Quote

I would hate to lose like the Jays did last night, too, but I would never want to be blown out. I want my team to be competitive, not stumbling bumbling fools. Quote
Tigermojo Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Whatever happens, I'm happy they eliminated Cleveland. Seems like someone told Riley he had 30 HR and 100 RBI, and he said it is what it is, and his brain took the rest of the season off. 1 Quote
lordstanley Posted October 8 Posted October 8 (edited) I think the Tigers home crowd needs their moment, even if it only delays the end by a couple of days. Two home wins since August 23, getting swept by Cleveland at home, playoff spot clinched in Boston, wildcard series won in Cleveland. Nothing at Comerica. Let's have a nice stirring win today and see what happens in a Friday coin flip. Edited October 8 by lordstanley 1 Quote
