oblong Posted March 29, 2022 Share Posted March 29, 2022 I golfed 36 holes a few times a week in 1993 and 1994. Same course. We'd get there at 7 am and do two rounds. Closest I got was an eagle. 2nd shot on a par 4 from about 100 yards out. After that I might have golfed once or twice a year until the mid 2000's. I always wanted my wife to take up the game as I thought it was something we could do together as we got older. The one time I took her to a par 3 she hit everything straight and I figured that's 80% of it, she's a natural. Motor City Sonics Posted March 29, 2022 Share Posted March 29, 2022 There is a little 9-hole Par 3 golf course not far from Vegas' airport. Before catching a flight back I played a round with my 2 friends who are much more experienced and better golfers than I am and we did the whole closest to the pin gets a buck for each hole. I won. Mostly because I don't hit it far and it was a hot, dry day and the ball was bouncing, so they aimed for the pin and overshot it, all I did was hit the ball, I know I don't have aim. For amateurs golf is one of those games where the less you think about it, the better you probably will play. On a real course with Par 4s and Par 5s they would have destroyed me. I was caddying when I witnessed the only hole-in-one in my life, the worst golfer of the foursome was the one that got it.
