The pet peeve thread

Not to mention that at least with the local version of mychart you have to update your entire health history every time you try to "check in" for a scheduled appointment. Especially insurance information.

While I do like all your health information can be linked, it's still a pain if you use multiple doctors and separate systems

Passive-Aggressive bosses.  The kind who allow nothing to happen without their explicit approval - don't do or think for yourself - then when you don't do it, YOU dropped the ball.

I learned to get EVERYTHING in writing in radio.   It actually saved my job once.    Had a supervisor tell me to do something,  I did it, it flopped and he blamed me, said I did it without permission in front of our boss with me sitting there.  I said "hold on a second, I have something here........."   I had the memo in writing.  The GM asked me to leave the room and there was yelling.   He didn't get suspended - and I worked there another 5 or 6 months and he never spoke to me ever.   If I did something he didn't like (which was almost every day from then on) had his intern call me and tell me.   Gutless turd.

I know I should probably operate that way, but it's just so childish. I don't think while I'm doing something "This will come back to bite me..."

10 or 11? If it's gone to 11 and your laptop has a digital license right you should be able to back level it to 10 and that might get you back some space ... Other things you can do are disable Hibernation/Hybrid sleep if either is on (look to see if Hiberfil.sys exists as a hidden file at c:\)..,  and disable and delete your swap file (you don't need one if you have more than 8bg ram and don't run any monster applications). You might get up to 10gB back depending on your config.....

Also go to \\windows\temp and delete everything there it will let you - also \\User\yourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp (need to enable hidden files to see AppData). Also control panel - "internet options" set your browser cache for your ms browser to something small - like 40MB. If you use Chrome, cleaning out your caches might get you close to another GB.

It is childish, but you know radio people.....................I have worked for a few that made bad choices and tried to pin it on employees and it usually works.

Major League Baseball and their partners suck in so many ways.

We're taking a driving trip through the south and swinging through Atlanta. I've never seen a Braves home game at home so I looked for tickets. That day happens to be against the Red Sox. Since it's the world champs and it's the Red Sox, even on a Wednesday, I figured tickets would be tight. Indeed, I saw only two seats available in a 300 section on the first base side, and nothing for several sections on either side of it, so i snapped it up. I figured I'd also need a parking pass so i got one of those, too.

When I booked the hotel I saw I was able to get a decent deal within walking distance of the park, so I figured cool, I'll post the parking pass on Stubhub. I saw several parking passes already available there.

Except I am completely unable to list even my tickets for resale, let alone the parking pass. Stubhub requires an alphanumeric barcode; neither the tickets or parking pass have one. On the Ticketmaster site, who are the Braves partner, they will allow me to transfer but not sell my tickets, and they won't allow me to even transfer the parking.

I called the Braves and they basically shrugged and said, it's'a'no my problem, call Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster has no customer service.

I'm stuck.

It's only 31 bucks but really, what the fuck.

They all suck.

Do you have the Ticketmaster app?  I have 3 future events in my ticketmaster app and all of them don't show the barcode by default but it does give the option to view it.  But I also checked my Red Wings tickets, which is somehow linked to Ticketmaster but only available through the Wings site, and yes... no barcode.   Just the bouncing thing.

I hate paperless tickets.  My friend sent 10 of us into his suite last week and it was a cluster.... only 3 of us had the tickets in our phones.  You had to go out with one of them to be let back into the suite area.

I get why they do it and it's not just the Tigers or Wings or Lions.... but it doesn't speed things up at the gate.  Everyone's fussing with their phones, trying to get it to work.

That's why on flights I always print my boarding pass at the airport.  It's their pass.  It's their ink, their paper, etc.  If there's an issue it's their fault, it's not my phone's brightness or whatever.

I am a fan of indie movies and the kind of movies that don't make a ton of money and don't play at AMC or Emagine.   The Main Art in Royal Oak, basic as it was, was the best filmhouse this side of Ann Arbor.  It closed.   Landlord just kicked 'em out one day and I guess the people who ran the place weren't really given any notice.   That's always a class move.  If cowardly is class.

Developers want to demolish it and make it...............wait for it............"a multi-use facility".  You know, stores and apartments that no actual regular working person can really afford.  Great, we needed more of those.   But the biggest insult of all is they want to keep the marquee.

Fuckin' tone deaf, man.      I guess there's till the Maple Art........for now.

With all this luxury shit going up and house prices going through the roof, what the hell is going to happen to most people? There has to be and end point to all this, right?   They are being priced right out of a decent life.   Detroit went from a bombed-out slum to a bunch of hoity-toity places where every price is jacked up (the fraud and utter bullshit that is Shinola).     Working people haven't really had a chance to experience the new Detroit, and the next time the economy crashes, the rich will flee again and it will go right back to what it was.    Championing $15 an hour is fashionable.  $15 would have meant something seven or eight years ago when people were asking for it.  The way things are going, that would be closer to $20 to $25 an hour now.      A lot of people rip on millennials, but they really are getting fucked.

So I don't know if I'm peeved about this one, or not - yet......

Have 3 yr old dishwasher - still looks/runs good as new. It just stopped mid cycle. No signs of life at all - no lights, no beeps - no nothing.

We had(have?)  an extended warranty so wife won't let crazy engineer me touch it.  First no-one could figure out who now held the warranty. Talked to 3 different shops. One finally came out. Guys says. "I can't tell if it's the touch panel or the programmer, we'll order both". (I was not there at the time of course). Then we don't hear anything - so we called - they said: "we can't get approval for parts, we are done." This despite fact that we had gotten an email from the manufacturer saying they had approved parts. OK - call manufacturer. They review case: call back and say: "We can't *get* parts (yada-China-yada), we are going send you a check for your full purchase price." Fair enough - sort of. We are now about 3 wks in. There's just two of us, doing dishes is not a great hardship, but looking at a dead dishwasher everyday is irritating. So still waiting for check.

Of course the kicker is that we paid $750 but appliance prices are way up and we can't buy the equivalent replacement for less than ~$1200.

Meanwhile, I take the part numbers to the web and both say in stock and available in 48hrs. At a cost of just under $300 each. So now it makes sense. They don't want to send a guy out again and buy $600 worth of parts - they'd rather cut the check for the $750.

Thing is, if *I* take the door apart and figure out for myself whether its the programmer or the panel (I have just enough know how to have a fighting chance....) I've got it fixed for under $300 bucks and pocket the remaining $450. Wish me luck......

I go to the insurance company's website to make a policy change.  It brings up a page that says "To change your policy, call XXX-XXX-XXXX.

So I call XXX-XXX-XXXX.  It's automated, of course. & when I say "change policy" it says "Thank you.  All of this is now done on our website, or thru our mobile app."

So I tried it on the app - & the app says "Call XXX-XXX-XXXX."   🤬

Arrange with another insurance company to give you the same policy you have, then cancel the company you’re with now. They can’t make you ride out the term or keep your money.

So I can finish this story today. The check from Westinghouse did arrive, after which I ordered the part. The part arrived today. I paid not the $320 the service firm had quoted on their work estimate, but $150 - for a factory certified new part. It took about 20 min to install the board, test function, and re-assemble the door. No more dead dishwasher!

All in all, considering Westinghouse effectively paid me > $200/hr to fix their dishwasher - NOT a peeve. :classic_biggrin:

There are some little things people do to let you know that they are a complete asshole.

- Walking down the middle of a parking lot aisle when they know there are cars behind them and not even hinting they will move to the side.  They know what they are doing.   It's some kind of power trip.  That person is a degenerate.

 - People that have 60 items in the 20 items or less self checkout line and get to the self checkout and don't seem to know how it functions while the line goes ALL THE WAY to the back of the store.   This is the Meijer in Allen Park.  I have not shopped there in a long time but it was on the way home from storm chasing tonight so I went.  Never again.   That place is a disaster - and the "self check out".............pretty much everybody gets stopped for some reason and has to wait for the lone cashier handling 6......er...5 self-scanners because one is ALWAYS down.

I have an idea and I think most would agree with me.  You go past 22 in the self-checkout 20 items or less line and you start getting taser-like shocks every time you scan something.    I'll give you 2 over, but beyond that, it's electric avenue for you.

I feel a little better.  I am going to take some Kratom now.

I'm on my annual RV pricing kick. It's a phase that will pass quickly fueled by the fact that every site I look at has a bot that pops up and "offers" to help, blocking my view of Class B and C porn. The same with car dealer sites. If they left me alone I just might give into temptation.

Wife does our big shopping and after trying Meijer a few times she keeps saying “never again”. We do the online ordering between them and Kroger.  And for other things we hit up Westborn, Dearborn Farm Market, or Aldi.  The Aldi on the hill is great.  Never been to one of them before.  They don’t have everything to stock a kitchen or pantry but they have a lot of what you need.  Basically we use Kroger or Meijer for perishables. Then we get the fresh stuff from other places.  We probably go to the store 5 times a week with 4 of those being quick 15 minute trips.

I think there is a very high probability that we've been in the same place at the same time.    Westborn has fantastic peaches right now.  I am addicted to peaches.   I am NEVER getting scurvy again !

I don’t miss having to endure Meijer, the one in Commerce could be nuts at times. Especially weekends. My wife does the big orders and I’ll do the “we need” runs.

Since I head out mid morning or early afternoon it’s not to bad. The local Food Lion is good for staples. Despite the chain’s reputation the local one seems well run and closer than their competitors. We like Fresh Market for produce and their prepared food.

For entertainment we run up to Richmond for Wegmans. This is definitely one place you need to visit for the experience alone.

I can't wait for the new place to open up next to CVS.  I used to go to the Pelham Market a lot too for quick one or two item things. But they had a dispute with The Vinery people, who own the building, so they kicked them out.  They were nice people.  Meat was a bit iffy but for things like pasta or whatever it was fine.
