I had the antibody treatment on Monday morning. They told me 24 to 48 hours later I should start to feel better. You could almost set you watch by it because yesterday I started feeling better and again today much better. I was hesitant to get it but glad I did now.7 points

It should start picking up soon. Clark never does anything the first month. This is about the time he starts heating up.4 points

Comparisons of the Capitol riots to what happened 'around the country' are not valid. The riot at the Capitol was a specific event with a goal of interrupting the certification of the transfer of power from one administration to another by interfering with official government business. It wasn't a random protest in the streets. They were storming our seat of government and it had the blessing and encouragement of a sitting US president. Nothing else that happened in 2020 remotely compares to it. It was an event on the scale of the War of 1812 looting of DC, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11 in terms of significance. It was an attempted coup.4 points

Last time a Washington team had to change their name because the original name was deemed offensive we got the Wizards. Not holding out hope.2 points

Yeah, it's still gonna trend toward the Ds. The Hispanic shift in The Valley is real, but there aren't a lot of people there. And it's more muted in the Metros. It'll slow it down, but it won't stop it1 point

The Lions and NFL in general was the last sport I got into as a kid so this was either my first or 2nd season as a Lions fan, can't remember for sure. Little did I know the misery they would put me through and how it would all go downhill from there. Kinda like Marino making the SB his rookie year, he probably thought "Ahh this isn't too bad, I'll be back here" and little did he know he never would be. That's my experience with the Lions "ahh losing the NFC Championship game the first year I follow them, not too bad we'll be back some other time. "1 point

I found the history on Wikipedia. It was political horse trading in the 1880's. The Dakotas got split up after Republicans won an election and were able to get extra states.1 point

John Boehner said exactly this years ago. Once these were eliminated, he lost negotiating leverage with his members. It was one of the reasons he had such difficulty controlling the rise and disruption of the Tea Party....he couldn't offer earmarks that could entice them to come around on bigger issues of the day. With the introduction of "Community Project Funding", which is essentially a new name for earmarks, I'll be curious to see if we can get some momentum back in that regard.1 point

Excellent. We can then break up California and combine the Dakotas and other mountain states. The fact is, Democrats represent over 40 million more people in the senate but do not have a majority. This is minority rule government.1 point

Big corporations already do run the country to a large extent, both parties. There are supposedly contribution limits, but there are obviously ways to get around that. We probably don't disagree on the money problem. I just wasn't sure what you meant by "tear it all down" It sounded like you wanted to tear down democracy and try something else. I want us to work towards democracy instead of moving away from it like we seem to be doing.1 point

I have Directv Stream. I was the early adopter around 2017 when it was Directv Now, than AT&T Now, then AT&T TV, and now Directv Stream. I was grandfathered in at the introductory price so my package no longer exists. It's basically a cable replacement. It has the look and feel of a typical cable service. I stream with a Roku device. I have at least 100 channels so scrolling through that many can be a chore. They do have numbers so I believe you can get a streaming device from AT&T with a typical remote. The quality is excellent. It was glitchy 4 years ago but have not had issues in some time. It never buffers and it fairly quick to load. The only issue, and it seems to happen on specific channels, is the audio falls out of sync with the video. If I do a quick change to the next channel and back, it's fixed. It only happens on specific channels. It comes with a cloud DVR but I really don't use it. It does have a decent selection of on Demand content. I also got in on the 99 cent Hulu deal so I use that for my on demand. My internet speed is 1 gig but I've been fine using it at much slower speeds. Never ran into data issues. I'm the only one who uses it so I'm not even sure how many streams I'm allowed.1 point

Isn't Hannity's whole schtick (presumably to defend the falsehoods he peddles) for the past 10103453802 years been that he isn't a journalist?1 point

I guess the networks weren't going to cover it, so what's the point? If they had done that a few more times when he was President we might not be in the mess we're in now.1 point

So if a guy with a gun can get the best of two trained police officers, teachers with guns don't stand a chance.1 point

I understand that a police officer was killed with their own gun recently. I took the racial, gender and sensational language about executions out of that statement and made it a subject we can all talk about.1 point

we have a thread to discuss gun issues, this can go there if a wish to discuss. Editing the title as well.1 point

They started coming up in the late 20's and 30's. They'd go back and forth between Detroit and TN depending on jobs and finally stayed here in 1950. My mom was named after a Polish lady they lived next door to in Detroit. But then her parents went back to TN where she grew up. A lot of aunts/uncles stayed in TN. My dad's family lived in SW Detroit. Just like other "immigrants" they went where the others were and in the 50's and 60's lots of people from TN lived there. On my mom's side they were east side. One uncle in East Detroit and another in Detroit.1 point

Gary Bettman is a good example. For years at the start of his career whenever he attended a game, everyone around him would be calling out "where'dja play yer hockey Gary?" The owners though have always loved him, and he absolutely owns Donald Fehr.1 point

February 2nd is a random Wednesday, prior to the Super Bowl... It's a weird date to choose, other than it being Groundhog's Day. I would bet it's the Washington Hogs or Washington Groundhogs. A Google Search also finds that there is a Major League Quidditch team with the name Washington Admirals. I don't know how important MLQ actually is (or fancies themselves to be) but I would have to imagine they at least patent their names.1 point

It happened to my friend two years ago, but his story had a fortunate ending. He was a runner and kept on running regularly right up to the diagnosis. He was having headaches though, so he went to the doctor. The tumor was so big and so dangerously located that they air lifted him to the hospital within an hour to have immediate surgery. He survived and made a complete recovery mentally and physically. He was back to running within a couple of months and is now back running better than he was before surgery.1 point

If the current relationship is unfair, then of course the players would have more demands. Either the owners want to play a full season or they don't. That's where there can be leverage. It's a battle of wills. Which side is going to be hurt more by missed games?1 point

My father in law went really quickly this summer from a brain tumor. He was having issues with headaches and slurring his speech. They did a scan and detected a small growth. They set him up for further tests within the week. Within days he had difficulty walking to the point he was rushed to the ER. within 48 hours he was so far gone that he was transferred to a hospice unit where he died 2-3 days later.0 points
