I'm worried about the invasion that's already occurred by people who want to turn the country back 200 years to the "good old days" when blacks and women knew their place.7 points

The multi-cultural, multi-racial United States will survive and thrive from immigration waves. It will benefit our economy. I don't like the suicidal ideation of the US that Tucker and Laura seem to want to protect.3 points

Carrying 3 catchers, none of whom are much good, makes no sense at all. Your bench is 2 catchers and 2 Castros.2 points

Lincoln (a Rebuplican!) said it best: Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Not a nation dedicated to an ethnic group, or a race, or a language, or even a particular geography, but to a proposition. No-one has a claim to say anyone who is also dedicated to that proposition has any less right to be 'American' than they do. As a matter of practicality, any nation has the right to ensure orderly immigration, but there is no place in the American 'experiment' for consideration of where people come from or what they look like, which is all the current right wing hysteria is about.2 points

I'm curious to see what happens to housing prices. I have a theory that so many people bought and/or refinanced at sub 3% that they won't want to sell with higher rates. That will limit inventory and keep prices elevated.2 points

Mayorkas was beaten down pretty good yesterday and he deserved every bit of it. He was asked if the 42 people caught entering the US illegally that are on the Terror Watch list had been released in the the US. His answer was that he didn't know. One Congressman called Mayorkas a traitor and compared him to Benedict Arnold. Mayorkas response is that he was offended and was proud of his service to the country. The damage he and his boss are doing to the US is irrepairable and he's offended. Too bad demented Joe wasn't there to feel the pain too since these are his policies. He probably was napping or couldn't find the room. https://www.cbsnews.com/video/homeland-security-secretary-alejandro-mayorkas-faces-heated-questions-from-republicans/2 points

Also just gotta say I'm liking the fact that they stopped showing the guys in the green room receiving the phone calls before the pick is announced spoiling any surprise. I think they did the same thing last year too so hopefully it continues to be like that.2 points

Well I think a big part of it too, is with the "hope kept alive" later into the season, there is less pressure on ownership to build a dominant roster. If you can persuade your fans that "squeaking into a WC slot in September is just as good as leading your division "wire to wire"...then you might get away with an annual payroll of $140 million instead of $200+ million. And yes, I believe the owners are devious enough to look at it exactly that way. I actually agree with Casimir, the thought of 4 team divisions, just plain sucks. But I don't believe that the integrity of championships is as high on the priority list of the owners, as it is to fans. For the owners it's more a matter of show business masquerading as a sport.1 point

This topic may not be specific to investing but it is an interesting read and donβt know that this is as public as it should be. https://www.morningstar.com/articles/1088562/big-changes-may-be-coming-to-traditional-medicare1 point

The team needs a shakeup of some sorts. I think Haase and Candelario will come around. What I don't want to see is any Castro at third base. That includes Willi, Harold, Raul, or Fidel.1 point

I think immigrants are super rad and hope we get more of them.1 point
-
Yes - The problem is that the mindset is just backwards. The military metaphor is inverted. Immigrants are not the invasion, they are the reinforcements. I look at my students and they are all kinds of colors and shapes and accents, they are the ones that have risen to the top of the American youth cohort, and these will be the people leading whatever progress the country continues to make in the future. (I know, this kind of talk just drives the MAGA further up the wall...)1 point

Last defensive lineman the Lions drafted 2nd ended up becoming the highest paid defensive player ever at the time and has a super bowl ring. Career destroyed.1 point

Barnhart has been the biggest disappointment to me. I can accept Schoop slumping, that Baddoo has sophomore jitters, that Haase's '21 was pixie dust, even maybe that Candelario isn't the player we think he is, but Barnhart has a pretty decent track record - yet so far has been pretty inept in all phases of the game. Just make a damn play at least once.1 point

I said this in the other thread, but if Harold Castro can't field any of the infield positions competently, time to bring up Kreidler. He may not be fully ready and maybe needs more regular playing time, but bring him up and rotate him around the infield as needed, or platoon him with Schoop/Candy for now until they get out of it.1 point

I tried. I just couldn't get past the fact that i'd have to listen to Ben Shapiro.1 point

I remember a guy who shoved the ball, he was in the Orioles bullpen in the late 60s and his name was Dick Hall, and of course we all referred to him as Dick All. He was a right-hander who pushed the ball out from his right shoulder. In our late teens in the late 60s, warming up before the game, half of the guys would be doing Luis Tiant and the other half would be doing Dick Hall.1 point
