Two points: The first being that if someone is determined to take another person’s life they will likely find a way to do it. It may take awhile, but if the hate is strong enough….Hate is hate. Secondly, the assassin in this case literally had to build this weapon with whatever he could get his hands on, a tape job to say the least. Although this person succeeded in taking Abe’s life, it wasn’t as easy as going to your local 5 & 10 store and buying a weapon that could take out a classroom full of kids. So from this perspective, even in light of this tragedy, a sober person can argue that gun regulations do make a difference. just my humble opinion.5 points

Brennan Ali actually looks a little bit interesting too... especially for a 7th rounder...1 point

Not really offensive. Just out of place. Thanks for removing it before we spiraled into politics.1 point

I was watching some youtube stream called "Woodward sports" last night...I think DMac is associated with them...during the draft. The lead host Adam...something...was touting Brad Lambert as a possible pick at 8. Dude must have researched using a Hockey News from last spring1 point

Conklin: Let's ask Marie what she thinks. Bourne: Marie's dead. Conklin: I'm sorry to hear that...how did that happen? Bourne: She was slowing me down.1 point

Playing tourist in DC for a couple of days. Secret Service in bullet proof vests outside Treasury did seem a bit concerning at first. We saw To Kill a Mocking Bird last night. Really brought to light again the length of the festering hatred in the country. Sorkin stayed true to the basic aspects of the novel but did update the feelings from the 1930s and the 1960s classic screenplay.Tracing the roots of the farmer class hate back to the Civil War and a bit of foreshadowing the civil rights movements of the '60s. Then there was my favorite quote from the town "drunk" . When hate comes to supper it's usually dressed as a Christian" keep in mind that these thoughts are coming from an "upper class intellectual". Which would put me high on the totem pole.1 point

I was thinking this morning about why Republicans are able to be so successful with their negative, hate-filled, disinformation brand of politics. Yes, the phobias and isms help them. Yes, the anti-science rhetoric riles people up. As does the us versus them mentality. But I think at it's core, what really makes them so successful versus the Democratic messaging, is that they have an entire media ecosystem with which they can manufacture what they want their voters to care about, think about, be outraged about, and respond to. Normally, it's the voters telling the politicians what they are upset about. With the right and Republicans, its the party and the media apparatus telling the voters what to think about and care about. And it is this way because they've been dumbed down and stripped of any ability to think critically. Worse or just as bad as that, they have created a culture where decent is shunned and scorned. The voters on the right and Republicans have built an innate trust in that everything they see and hear on and from Donald Trump, Fox News, OAN, NewsMax, Rush Limbaugh, Dan Bongino, Steve Bannon, conservative Facebook and Twitter must be true. If they say something than I am going to believe it. The thought of even questioning what you see every night on Tucker or Laura, even questioning what comes out of Trump's mouth, has been erased from their minds. They've been worn down to a nub, erased off all critical thinking skills due to terrible education system, and are following the Pied Piper straight off the bridge without question. Xenophobia, homophobia, anti-science, extreme religiousness, and all the other jargon that comes along with being on the right are themselves effective messaging tools to keep people constantly interested and motivated towards a goal. However, it's the dumbing down of society, the wearing down of any ability to think critically, and the shunning of those who do that is at its core, that has allowed their media ecosystem to take hold and dictate to the voters what they need care about. Does this make any sense haha?1 point

Another Qservative media fail... But a review of clearer video from the ceremony makes it clear no mistake was made. While one recipient was given his medal framed, Biden fastened the three other medals around each recipient’s neck, fastening them at the back of the neck with the medal extending down on the chest. AP images of the moment the medal was placed around Birdwell’s neck also show that Biden positioned it properly. https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-biden-medal-of-honor-video-4393741537011 point

Listening to the radio on that final play, from the time it left the bat until it was scooped up and called out, I couldn't tell from Dan's call and the crowd's reaction how the play was going to end up.1 point

It technically wasn't unassisted, since it was a ground ball to 1st with runners on 1st and 3rd, with a throw home.1 point

Avila talking about an unassisted double play he had with the Tigers (in 2013). He tagged at a runner between 3rd and home around 3rd, and then tagged the next runner trying to advance to 3rd. ”Obviously any runner that was caught in a rundown between me and Miguel…. advantage runner.”1 point

ha, Alex Avila is talking about how he did the same thing last season. "it took me a little longer" to get out to the runner.1 point

Considering that he is a highly compensated asset on a limited roster, the agent and player have greater responsibility to report his status to the organization than what has transpired. I see no flaw in the Tiger's treatment of him thus far.1 point

Charles was pretty upset how the race was managed. Not letting him past Sainz, not pitting him on the last safety car. Maybe his crew was upset too. It might also be nothing. Someone posted a pic of Leclerc's last win and almost nobody was on the fence then either. Some are suggesting Ferrari just doesn't do that like other teams do.1 point

On Diego's 11th birthday. It was the first time I had given him a haircut and we did them at home from that point forward. He hated the buzzing of the clippers but I bribed him with Cherrios. He loved Cherrios. Million-Watt Smile. In his honor, another dog is going to get a great life soon in a house that isn't right without a dog. He rescued me six weeks after the passing of my previous dog Tony and he helped me get over it. I won't wait that long this time. My dog is out there somewhere, I just have to find him now. 5,412 amazing days for 2 miserable ones. That's a good trade. R.I.P. Mighty D.1 point
