  6. I'm hopefully never going to see it: https://www.theblockbot.com/show-blocks/9BjDYX6HOyx7e4_4NT6-Y4YylY3UmpojDxvo6Zu8 besides the expected white supremacists, bots, and crypto-bros, I see I'm also blocking Miller Lite, FanDuel Sportsbook, and some Draft Kings shit. seems like a win.

  7. Came across this card on eBay. Pretty certain I had it as a kid. Sharing the back of it, as it’s pretty well written and comprehensive of what his accomplishments and appeal were. Enjoy

  8. Point is you need both, Reynolds is a nice depth player, but you want better starting.

  9. jamo is not an x. reynolds is the only x on the team. they'll move people around. x and te are the two offensive positions they could use an upgrade on early.

  10. Wow somebody in the British Foreign Office needs their head examined. They were all set to send that idiot Charles and his girlfriend on a state visit to France in the middle of all this turmoil about the retirement age, and mountains of uncollected garbage. The visit was canceled at the last minute.

  11. The entire. He started the game on the DL. They were really up to date on the starting rosters. I am on Arpil 21st and Casey has 5 months left on the DL, Skubal with 2 months, Tyler Nevin with 2 weeks. 9-8 now.

  12. If we have to keep the time then I would get rid of the 7 second batter alert rule. Let the pitcher throw a strike and if the hitter isn’t ready then that’s on him. The pitcher has the ball so he can dictate it.

  14. Guess I don't understand why coaches and GMs go to pro days if we're just going to ignore players who show up out of shape and unable to complete drills.

  15. I honestly think most people would be fine with them drafting Carter. I think most of us would assume that Holmes and Campbell feel they can get a good player out of him. Now, 2 years or so later we might be losing our minds and falling over ourselves with "I told you so" talk, but I think most reactions will relative tame. In fact, here's my reaction... I've pre-written my script: It surprises me that they do this. I'm worried that he isn't going to pan out in the NFL but I trust, at least right now, Holmes and Campbell. They've obviously done their homework and their getting paid millions to do the job... I'm just some guy behind a keyboard, so I hope they are right... But I reserve the right to say "I told you so" at a future date if needed.

  16. I played APBA as a kid. I tried to complete the full 1973 for every team, keeping box scores of each game and aggregating stats by hand. After a few years, I made it to early September. I have thought many times about finishing the season but have never gotten around to it. I still have the game and the stats in my cellar. I did finish the 1970 NFL season which of course was a lot fewer games than a full MLB season.

  18. how? simmons = 18. so youre giving up 6 for 11 and a third? that really shortchanges detroit. you would need 11 and their second round pick or a future 1 with detroit throwing in a late 3rd.

  19. There was a great online game 10-15 years ago called Baseball Mogul Online. We had a great community. The game would sim three games every hour 8AM-5PM. We could pause a day at trade deadline and sign free agents in the off season, fantastic game! I guess the server fried and Clay Dreslough (founder) decided not to keep it going. They have PC version now but not the same. We had a message board just like this politics and everything....

  21. They didn't need to renegotiate Vaitai's contract when they did. They could have done it after the draft, after June 1st or during training camp. They had plenty of cap to get them through so it is curious why they cleared it now.

  22. This is the most interesting Toledo team, at least in March, in quite a while. I would put Wenceel Perez in that group too, recovering from a back injury.

  23. I remember when work ethic questions dogged Nick Fairley. The belief was that working next to Suh would motivate him and make him work harder. It didn't. This is the draft that can set up the Lions to be the class of the NFC North for the next several years and NFC contenders. Probably not the time to take risks.

  30. One of the obvious things that I have yet to hear anyone stress is that the deposit limit was at 100K in 1980. If you apply the CPI to that number it means it should have been increased to ~400K by now. A too low insurance limit is another thing drives up the % of uninsured customers. By design the insurance limit is *supposed* to cover *most* - i.e. any average, depositor at your average bank.

  31. They are not platooning Riley Greene. Only time he doesn't play is if he's hurting or if he needs a day off and since he's not even 23, I doubt he'll need too many days off. He's a do-or-die player I'll play Green, cf a fan favorite already, but is he a leadoff hitter? well, they have nobody else Meadows, rf, he still gets on base, hopefully he finds it again, he'd make a huge differece if he did Baez, ss yep, a dog poop season in 2022, but still, easily the most dangerous hitter on the team Cabrera, dh yep, still at cleanup. Carpenter takes this slot when Miggy goes on the DL Haase, c, maybe I have him a little high, but when he's right, he's good Torkelson, 1b, I hope he's good enough to hit cleanup at some point Maton, 3b, hits the ball hard, draws more walks than most on the team and no shift will help him. Schoop, 2b, it just feels like every AB for him is a missed opportunity to see a future player Baddoo, lf, I don't think he should be on the team over Carpenter, but they need some speed somewhere Bench: Rogers, Vierling, Ibanez, Kriedler. Nevin replaces Ibanez when he gets healthy. Kerry Carpenter starts in Toledo, where he'll get everyday ABs. Toledo's lineup will be worth following. Keeping an eye on Malloy and Lipcius Maybe Schoop starts out hot and the Dodgers trade a keg of beer for him.

  32. Fidrych was one of a kind. There will never be another one like him. He was a unique individual, but part of what made him special is that nobody knew who he was until he started pitching in Detroit. Today, we would have analyzed him from the day he was drafted. We would have known everything about him and placed him on various prospect lists. When was in Detroit, we would haved worried about his low K rate and worried about him getting hurt with the high innings pitched totals. Nobody cared about that stuff back then. Who knows what social media would be saying about him? The Bird phenomenon just wouldn't be the same today. I am so glad we were able to experience it when we did.

  34. I dig the pitch clock. A game like last night's doesn't seem to drag because there is constant level of intensity that won't exist in most regular season games.

  35. When an interviewer in the 90s said his career was tragic, Fidrych corrected him and said "Tragic? I started an All-Star Game, it was great". He wasn't a phony, it wasn't an act, he was just a kid that was as wowed as we were. I still remember his first start against Cleveland and how fast the game was over. He got the ball and it was like it was giving him electric shocks and he had to get rid of it right away. I don't think he got cheated, I think the rest of us did, I think baseball did.

  36. I got his autograph at a Whitecaps game. I was absolutely thrilled and said to him "thank you for doing this" and he said "thank you for still caring". Somewhere I have a picture of me walking away from the autograph table with a huge smile on my face. It was a highlight reel moment in my life.

  37. I got Fidrych's autograph at Gibralter one year. They were free. Very long line and it wasn't moving fast. Once I got up there I realized why. The guy was so friendly and was talking to everyone like it was a cousin he hadn't seen in 7 years. This was before camera phones so I can imagine how long that would have been if everybody wanted a picture.
