Dan Dickerson’s call of Miggy’s walkoff Cabrera Beats Giants.m4a4 points

In a situation like this, it demonstrates that despite the decline in skills, he knows situational baseball. If anything, that moment today is the most ideal way to use him... even at his age, it feels like he can be trusted to advance a runner or score them more than most on this team3 points

As a general philosophy, I'm not a fan of ever leaving a bat that has mastered AAA there. I don't want a guy getting comfortable with his hitting success - I want him to face MLB pitching as soon as he's mastered AAA so he doesn't have a chance to develop any habits or complacency he's going to have to work to break. In Malloy's case there is some extenuating circumstance because you are hoping his D can improve.3 points

Seven scoreless innings by the bullpen, backed by some pretty good D. Raise your hand if last week you saw this happening for this team. Now pull your hand down, because you’re lying.2 points

TORK!!! Proud of these guys, one hell of a comeback today2 points

Me too, I think I might have 35-5 etched on my gravestone, along with a hand with the middle finger extended.2 points

Going to keep the coach search and draft stuff in their own threads. Just going off the top of my head here. I believe their free agents are Diallo, McGruder, and Joseph. Team options on Burks, Omoruyi, Hampton, and Livers. No clue on the dates of those options. $30 million or so in cap space but that includes letting Burks go which isn't going to happen. So $20m in cap space roughly. The rookie options have all been picked up for next season. I believe the Pistons are now eligible to make trades but only with other teams whose season has ended.1 point

The Tigers going on a 19-4 tear in the 23 games after starting the season 2-9 will go down in Tigers lore.1 point

It would be such awesome Karma if the Tiger wearing #42 today gets the game-winning hit !1 point

Why is this here, in this forum, or in fact, anywhere? perhaps you might see to it to delete it yourself. If not, I will maybe later. (And I won’t be too happy about wasting time on this bull****). You get me?1 point

In honor of the greatest athlete in American professional team sports history today. No single player in any sport faced the kind of pressure that 42 did, not just from the people who hated him and wanted to hurt him, but from the people that absolutely needed him to succeed. He carried it with dignity and buried the rage and pain so deeply that it killed him before he reached the age of 55. His incredible wife, his strength, will turn 101 in July.1 point

In Al’s defense, having both Mayer and Neto in the same system would be just awful1 point

No problem with Kreidler straightening himself out in Toledo, but hope there is still a short leash on Schoop. And McKinstry.1 point

Apparently he sought out hitting help in the offseason, like Carpenter, and made some adjustments. He was 5 for 12 in ST, when called up to play in games with the ML squad. He’s got speed and power and plays D. Kind of like an infielder version of Parker Meadows.1 point

SSS alert butttttt Workman has 6BB to 7Ks so far this year. Putting it in perspective he had 38BB all last year. Would be great if he could become even a UTIL type in the long run1 point

Nope. Not really surprised by Garrett Hill... he probably bears the most responsibility for the blown lead last night1 point

Looking forward to the Cody Stavenhagen feature in the Athletic in August, when he waxes poetic about how the Baez incident was the turning point for the team and their climb into playoff contention.1 point

Not that worried about Greene. Has has a triple, a walk and 103 mph 4 deg ground out tonight. Tork has stay with the selective approach that got him here.1 point

Englert was put into a position he shouldn't be in and made one mistake... otherwise he pitched well and got redemption1 point

The one good thing about the old site’s demise is that as far as I know there is no lasting written record of how much I gushed over him, Veleno and McIsaac on draft day. I believe I called it a “franchise-altering draft”. Or maybe it actually was …:(1 point

Oh, they are all for abortions for their daughters if it’s convenient. They’re just against abortions for your daughters. You’re the one who needs to be saved, not them. They’re already saved. 😏 But in all seriousness, yeah. 100%. It’s to their benefit to be in charge of people and control what they can and cannot do.1 point

You know these assholes would have different opinions on such things if it were their wives or teenage daughters that were victims In their mind it's targeted towards black people, poor white people, and just "sluts" in general so they deserve whatever hardship befalls them and any hurt for the child is the fault of the woman. But just the woman. Boys will be boys. What are you gonna do?1 point

Its basically a foregone conclusion unless you get really lucky like the Nats did with Scherzer you are not going to get your ROI on big money FA deals, particularly at the end. You sign them on hopes that the first half of it they will help take you to the next level, having to live with an albatross for the last 3 years is ok if the player helped you win multiple divisions and make or win the World Series. On a side note its funny we had about a half dozen players we could've given big money deals in 2013-15 but the two we didn't in Scherzer and JD ended up being two of the rare players to end up being worth their FA contracts, meanwhile the guys we signed ended up being disasters whether they were our own players or outside guys. I guess Verlander ended up being fine but most of that was due to what he did in Houston, while he was here he really was only elite for the 2016 season under the extension which is why we had to eat a third of the contract when we traded him.(btw how did that trade work out, I can't remember?)1 point
