I have been off the grid in terms of my interest level in this team this season — and all sports related passions — but from a distance I have enjoyed this latest run. My son who just turned 21 a few weeks ago has now become a true Tigers fan, a man of the cloth, whose young heart is bursting with love for this team, and he’s talking about the playoffs with an endearing sincerity that makes me fear for his sanity and well-being. He listens to all the games on his phone and he’ll call me and tell me passionately about all the good things that have happened as of late. Having been there myself, I have no right to tell him that he’s kind of like the school nerd who’s trying to get the hottest cheerleader in school to date him and that the results will be humiliating. Right now he’s excited that the MLB free game of the day on Friday will be the Tigers against the Mariners and he wants to watch it with me and I told him that it will most likely be blacked out because we live in the Mariners TV area and he doesn’t believe me because he can’t believe MLB would be that mean. He’s that sincere. He’s like a bumpkin who’s in Paris for the first time in the 1880s to hang out with the Impressionist painters and when he sees the pretty prostitutes on the Rue des Lorettes he thinks they’re just nice girls who honestly like him and want to have a good time. I want to tell him “been there done that and learned my lesson” but it’s something he just has to learn for himself. Cheers to you all.

Unfortunately, studies have shown than studies are far less effective at getting through to the maga right than something posted by a random guy on Facebook with a flag and the word Patriot in their profile.

I can see not much has changed in this forum. There are still a lot of blind followers of a political party feeding off of bad information or misinformation and ignoring reality. There’s nothing you can do for those people because they live in their own fantasyland. There is no point in arguing or debating taking guns away because it will never happen. And yes millions of people own firearms for self protection. They are walking next to you on the street or in a store everyday. I’m sure you all have heard the saying “take a knife to a gun fight” and if that is what you prefer to do then that’s up to you. If you don’t know how to use a firearm or are frightened by one then you shouldn’t have one and that goes for everyone. As for someone taking your gun away and shooting you with it as a reason people should not have a firearm, well that isn’t even a consideration. Yes ,it can happen and has happened, even to police and soldiers in battle but its unlikely. You can ignore the invasion of the southern border but that won’t fix the problem. It’s one of the worst security issues the US has ever faced and it was done intentionally by this administration. I do believe that the majority of these people coming in are not here to be good people. They bring drugs, crime and violent crimes. As long as it doesn’t happen to you then it doesn’t matter. I hate it happening to anyone and we need to border secured and Biden and Mayorcus will forever be known by this failure, like Carter is for Iran. This situation is unexceptable for even a third world country but that’s where we are headed under the current failed administration.

Considering the Twins aren't exactly the Mets or Yankees when it comes to absorbing bad contracts this deal could end up being be a real killer for them going forward...... and I'll enjoy every second of it if it is.

Erie wins 1-0 so not much to report on the offensive side, the lone run was driven in by Dingler who went 1-4. The good news from the game though is that judging by the stat line Madden looked alot better throwing 5 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits with 6Ks and no BBs.

On a related note, I always feel sorry for any kid whose parents are turning them into Lions fans. When I see a kid wearing Lions gear, my empathy goes on high alert.

I understand the concern for local residents. I would be concerned if there was a large influx influx of new people into my home town just because of logistics (something I mentioned in my post). However, it's not a bunch of disease infested criminals invading America like many of the MAGA are saying. There will be bad people among every group anywhere, but they are not committing crimes at a higher rate than native born Americans.

I don't believe people crossing the border are more dangerous than anyone else. Studies have shown that immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native born Americans and that undocumented immigrants have an even lower rate (don't want to be caught and deported!). Logistically, we still need to limit the number of new immigrants each year, but crime isn't the reason. Neither is disease, since immigrants tend to be healthier than Amercians.

HaHaHa. Any fool is safer to have the guns gone than to try and manuever his 50yr fat slow rear end, shaky hands and failing eyesight to 'protect his family' by trying to take down an assaultant who is younger, faster, is probably better armed and has all the initiative. Other than that, you go with that strategy. Good luck being the *maybe* one in 10 who end up lucky enough to come out on the better end of that confrontation. In the real world the facts are clear. You are far more likely to end up with your own wife or child or neighbor dead at the hands of your own weapon either by accident or loss of your own self-control than you are of ever taking on that scumbag immigrant. Those are real facts, not your Man-Boy fantasies.

Celtics just don't look right. All those people who said, "Look what Mazulla is doing, maybe it's just a good team and Ime wasn't all that" are rethinking that now. He's had some pretty terrible coaching sequences in these playoffs.

Its funny the other day I got a follow suggestion on Twitter who was a Tigers fan with the name Bert in his handle so I thought it may have been our Bert until I clicked on the profile and realized it wasn't. Anyway seeing that then made me think to myself that I hadn't seen any posts from Bert in awhile and it concerned me a bit. Glad to hear that all is well and its funny how things like that work.

Not for nothing, I have always hated that they've successfully labeled the public pension and health insurance that we are supposed to get as senior citizens which were funded by the taxes we all paid as productive workers "entitlements", as though they're trying to goad us into feeling guilty for being entitled to free handouts by Uncle Sucker, or something like that. Calling them "entitlements" makes it easy for Cocaine Mitch's rhetoric to take hold among the working-class rubes, those that would benefit from it the most, who end up opposing it because they envision all the wrong people living it up on their dime. It would be ****ing shameful if those political ****ers could feel any shame.

I would rather play the Chiefs as soon as possible. It's easier to beat good teams like that early. Like how the Lions almost beat the Eagles.

Honestly, I hate when the Lions aren't on 1:00pm on a Sunday. I get that having prime time games means that the team is probably doing well and the league views the team as a draw... which is a good thing. But I like my Sunday afternoon routine. I'm okay with a 4pm time on occasion, but night games aren't nearly as fun for me. I have to stay up later, and if they lose I'm upset and it's hard to go to sleep and if they win I'm excited and it's hard to go to sleep. Honestly nothing would make me happier than for them to have 1:00pm games all season long, except for T-Day of course.
