Getting kinda close to thinking Parker Meadows might be worth looking at over Baddoo tbh3 points

yeah - I'd rather see one big trade for maximum return on a well researched piece that's going to have an impact than the std 'let's bring in a many bodies as we can get and hope one hits" approach that we've seen fail so much.3 points

I love this take. Especially since I'm old enough to remember when we had discussions over things like taxes and such...3 points

Ty Madden had another good outing today. 5IP 3H 1R(solo HR) 10Ks. In his last 3 starts he's given up just 7 hits and 1 run combined with 20Ks.3 points

When conservatives do it its a boycott. When libs do it its Woke Anti American Cancel Culture. Is that right?3 points

LOL - I've reached the age where I have to worry a lot more about keeping the brain working - baseball is good for that.....2 points

A friend of mine worked at the Ritz in the 90's and told me similar things about how they track their guests. Except in one instance it wasn't flattering. There was a Pizza Hut franchisee in the area, kind of well known, also a very big guy. He would take dumps in the bathtub. That was noted in the computer. I'm trying to think of anything Oliver Platt was in that wasn't great. What I like about The Bear is they don't go out of their way to explain things. Someone like Del obviously knows things that regular viewers don't but they leave it to us to either figure out or be in the dark and I'm ok with that. Treats the viewers with respect. Plus it would lose it's pacing and authenticity. Ron Howard dumbed down one of my favorite movies of all time, Apollo 13 so I'm not being that critical, but you won't have the reality of mission control people explaining basic orbital mechanic issues to each other. The Bear doesn't do that and I like it.2 points

You believe that calling the brand "fratty" is ****ting on the consumers and that's what prompted the outrage? It wasn't being nice to the trans person? Like if she didn't say that on the podcast it would have been cool? If anything the reaction, which included bomb threats, supports the idea, which the VP didn't express, is that the Tritts, Kid Rocks, and Ben Shapiro's of the world are indeed ****ty people. I don't know why you defend that.2 points

It's very possible I missed something about Bud Light but what did they do to suggest their core consumer is "****ty"? From my understanding all they did was send a can of bud light to a trans influencer who then posted about it online.2 points

Update on CJGJ. He's going to have to have one of the Js removed before he can play again. This is serious.1 point

Yeah. Was talking to some guy about Jung and he dismissed him as a prospect because he was hitting only .240 (at that time). His FC+ was 130 though. The guy didn't want to hear it.1 point

Yup. Itβs just grievance politics, which is the only feature the Republican Party has these days.1 point

McKinstry might be the classic utility guy who can't hit because he's not getting regular at bats and stops hitting when he gets too many at bats.1 point

Just to add, the "when he comes up and sucks..." rationale was a pretty popular one last year when people were wondering when Kerry Carpenter would come up.... We saw how that turned out.1 point

You have the timeline wrong. They gave a beer to a trans person. Bigots went ape **** because they don't want "fags drinking our beer too" The marketing person explained their rationale of wanting to reach other consumers. Bigots complained more about being called bigots. I guess the fault is believing their core customers were better people.1 point

At the Mud Hens game Saturday, Wingenter looked good, except for the 3 run HR to Clemens in the first - They fought back to 3-2, then brought Blair Calvo in - which was a disaster. He wasn't helped by a 2B error by Rizzo at 1B, but gave up 4. Game was shortened to 7-innings because of the rain delay - but at least I got to check an item off the bucket list.1 point

Episode 7 was great. Maybe do not read further if you have not watched episode 7 yet. I assumed they were talking about Alinea when they said it was a 3 star restaurant. But the episode was shot in a place called Ever owned by Curtis Duffy. The background/extra people in the episode were employees at Ever. Duffy and his staff also made all of the food for the episode. Duffy is a legend in Chicago culinary circles. Worked at Charlie Trotters, chef de cuisine (head chef) at Alinea when it opened, chef de cuisine at 2 star Avenues in the Peninsula, co-owner and chef de cuisine at 3 star Grace before it closed, and now Ever has 2 stars. It was a great portal into the insane world of fine dining. I loved the guy explaining why he works in that field. And yes, you will have a long discussion about a single smudge. And yes, a restaurant of that caliber will research you when you book a reservation. My single complaint about this episode is the same I have for ever episode of this series. Not enough Oliver Platt.1 point

Haha I still feel like the ep of Married with Children where Al gets some good luck and it terrifies him cause that only means that something way worse is gonna happen to make up for that.1 point

I can imagine the bomb test scene would be a "wow" in an IMAX theater and some of the scenery of New Mexico might be similarly amazing but, you probably should save your gas.1 point

My observation is this is the first Nolan movie i can say that doesn't benefit too much from IMAX. The smaller theater I saw it in was just fine.1 point

How about the thousands and thousands of members of clergy worldwide who have sexually abused and violated children. If any Republican wants to complain about the mistreatment and abuse of children, start with clergy and not the LGBTQ community.1 point

I'm so conservative I'm still in the days of separation of church and state, that religious right segment has certainly enjoyed to 'cancel' things.1 point
-
I'll take you at your word when you say that you've always felt that way, but conservatives have largely failed to "walk the walk" on this stuff for a long long time. I'm old enough to remember the Iraq War, for instance.... conservatives didn't call it "cancel culture" back then because they were the ones doing the "canceling"1 point

Because it is important to make sure that everyone here knows about it. Motownforums is a private club, it isn't Letters to the Editor, and it is a private club where 99% of the members are opposed to white supremacists and xenophobes and their dog whistles. So when Greta kicked that guy's nuts up into his throat, I would never have heard about it if it had not been mentioned here. Here is an FAQ from this site: "How did the Republicans manage to F up an entire country, top to bottom, perhaps irreparably"? And the answer always is "Because the Democrats stood back and let them". That's what happens when people say "just ignore them" or "don't give it oxygen". It's terrible advice. You have to bring this type of thing to everyone's attention, and mock it mercilessly.1 point

The more attention you give Jason Aldean, the more his career will take off like Morgan Wallen's did after a similar thing happened. Resist.1 point
