IDK how much prep draftee is going to/should focus on being compared to a college player. I guess if he were that would be a red flag to me. Also - The context is that Clark is a shoe nut - sort of Imelda Marcos of the Diamond set. He apparently has hundreds of pairs of designer shoes. So it's a hobby with him.2 points

youth is wasted on the youth. These kids are just plain stupid. But it's genearational. They were the Occupy Wall Street folks 15 years ago. Every group of early college kids gets an issue that they can pretend to be adults about and build camps and pretend to be activists and think they are changing the world. 4 years ago it was BLM. I'll concede most are pawns just caught up in a movement (Like many January 6 folks) but this time instead of fighting racism they are participating in racism by this movements leaders. They should be smarter to realize it.2 points

The second hitter is going to bat more frequently than other hitters lower in the line-up, so he should be one of the best hitters. Being able to move runners over is a useful skill for all hitters, but it is secondary to being a productive hitter2 points

Casey Mize is adjusting very nicely after TJ. Much better than Fulmer and Turnbull.2 points

Winning 12 out of 22 isn't bad at all. I would like just a slight improvement...13 out of every 22 for the rest of the year.2 points

Only Idaho Bert saw all of Cobb, Kaline and Miggy play, so I’ll defer to him.1 point

Each of the 3 have unique qualifications. Gordie is Mr. Hockey and probably revered more in Canada than in Detroit and that’s saying more about Canada because Detroit loves him obviously. It’s just that he and others reach national levels like Ali. Yzerman was the face of the franchise for over a generation. I’d say the only thing putting him over Lidstrom, if you choose to, is his leadership and captaincy. I won’t argue with you. He’s no lower than 3 obviously. Lidstrom is Mr Perfect and I can’t recall any reasonable criticism of him or his play. Won a ton of Norris Trophies and finished second quite a few times. He would have been team captain longer if not for Yzerman’s standing.1 point

Cabrera was a great hitter, but not a "generational talent". A generational talent is someone who dominates the game for a decade or more. Pujols was a generational talent. Trout was a generational talent. Cabrera was Hall of Fame caliber, but not in their class. You keep saying opinion versus stats and then your opinion about Cabrera is all stats! He didn't get 600 home runs by the way. He got 500. Pujols got 700!1 point

Probably a lot of Tigers fans on social media backspacing after that Baez hit.1 point

Canha, batting 2nd, crushed it for a HR. That’s not right. He should just poke the ball around1 point

Hopefully, the Tigers won't have to worry about any of this. Maeda will get untracked and give us 6+ innings.1 point

Why is Monroe yelling about Skubal? The game hasn't even started yet. I turned the volume down.1 point
-
sure - it depends on whether Maeda would rather not embarrass himself in front of Major league audiences. Here's hoping he has a good outing and makes such speculation academic.1 point

Maybe the NHL could subsidize the WNHL (Winnipeg's NHL team) the way NBA does for the WNBA. 🤪1 point

What is going on in this forum? I try and take a step back (away from news/politics) a bit over the last few months and most of you are complaining about what's going on with young people on college campuses? Just like that and Pfife is the only non-Trump loyalist. The rest of you are just fine talking GOP talking points? I thought we weren't allowed to criticize anything that could potentially make the left look bad to ensure Trump doesn't win? 🙂1 point

It's also rich when you claim they were not being accused of virtue signaling but of being antisemitic, then no less than 30 minutes later you..................................................... accuse them of virtue signaling. that's a double wow except is more like a double par for the course with you1 point

Yes I think harassing Jews is bad. At the same time, I also think virtue signaling about virtue signaling is rich.1 point

the utter stupidity of these protests is shocking. I know college kids have a reputation for being the dumbest smart people around, but this is nuts. while they were harassing Jewish students and praising Hamas martyrs, the House passed $17B in aid for Israel's defense. LOL! US send less than 2% of that to Gaza for humanitarian aid (aid which I will point out Trump suspended). Maybe focus your energy on that? to state the obvious, this is all performative; there is nothing substantive here; pitching a tent on a quad will change nothing, but attacking Jewish students completely undercuts whatever legit argument you may have had about the plight of Palestinians.1 point

Anytime there's a Trump rally you see the fringes with their confederate flags, maybe a swastika, some real hatred going on. Do we go through the mental exercise of excusing some members of that rally as just being caught up in it? A person is resonsibile for the company they keep. The FBI in on heightened alert for attacks against Jews. What we are seeing at Columbia and other places of "higher learning" is not unlike what we saw in the 50's in the south. I can't believe we are seeing this in this country in 2024 and it's not a bigger story. It would never ever be tolerated if it were another group.1 point

7-6 final in Winnipeg. Lyon and Reimer can be heard saying "I could have done that".1 point

If you have a RH batter with a reasonably high OBP against RHP, you do want to put a LH batter behind him to optimize his chance of going 1st to 3rd on a another base hit. Most managers like alternating right and left hand hitters, so that sort of leaves you with a preference to go RH in the lead-off spot and then LH in the 2 hole - but if your LHH is you best OBP by a significant margin (often true), he's still your lead off hitter. The overall is probably too close to a toss-up to worry about it a lot.1 point

Got the MLB survey today. Under the "What one thing needs to be done", I wanted to lead with 'Fire Angel Hernandez' but settled for "deaden the damn ball".1 point

This game is about as perfect as they come. They scored six runs, Mize was good, the guys who aren’t normally hitting were hitting, and the guy I never heard of before, Kennedy, hits a homer. It’s almost like being Tobey Maguire in the first Spider-Man movie and learning the Kirsten Dunst actually likes you and you’re not stupid and you don’t turn her down because “with great power comes great responsibility.”1 point
