and on cue we can now welcome certain people to the game thread.....6 points

They are two games above .500 and have a positive run differential. All despite multiple players not playing to their potential. You'd think we were talking about the 2019 team with the way people talk about them.4 points

I was just thinking how good the new City Connect uniforms would look in that fire.4 points

Tork has a walk and a double. He doesn't want to ride the bus with Parker.3 points

and Jake threw the ball into CF after Wentz stupidly threw over there a 2nd time. That run was just as costly as the HR into a short corner with the wind blowing out.2 points

Baez is slowly contributing more and more to this team. There’s hope.2 points

I knew it all along, I tried to tell everyone but no one would listen, the first two callups would be Wenceel Perez and Ryan Vilade2 points

Because he's given you 8 bases in the last 3 games. No-one in the system other than Riley can do what Torkelson can do at any time the switch flips for him, so you give him more rope than anyone else in the system short of Riley. Even with his head screwed on wrong right he is still hitting doubles. In Keith's case, his AB are pretty good, he's having absolutely terrible BaBIP luck. His expected BA is 240, which ain't great but passable for a 2B you need to let develop. Meadows needs mechanical work on his swing, he was swinging under everything. That's a good task to do in the minors, plus Perez is playing well so far.2 points

Reese Olson looks enviously at the eleven runs in yesterday's box score.2 points

In most line-ups, it would not make sense to bat Ibanez leadoff even against lefties. The Tigers line-up is not most line-ups. One thing about Hinch is he doesn't manage his roster based on hunches, but rather data.2 points

I will rent the private plane to take him to LA.2 points

Haven’t you learned yet that when the Tigers win it’s because of the players, and when the Tigers lose it’s because of M.F. Hinch?1 point

Right now there is almost nothing to pick between Foley, Lange, Chafin and even Vest. Hinch has his match-up tables that's pretty much as complicated as it gets. Foley had a nice stretch early when he was lights out but in general he does gives up contact. He wanted LHP to close against a heavy LH team and the RH hitter in the mix got him. You can't use pitchers for one hitter anymore - that's life. There was nothing wrong with Hinch's decision matrix (haha - listen to me defend Hinch). He put them in a position to execute and they didn't. They gave up 2 errors and had 7 hits and no walks in 10 innings. You won't win many on the road against a 600 team with that output esp without the long ball.1 point

You would think so, but we are now 7+ years removed from normalcy, so I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.1 point

Or maybe Jake Rogers doesn't airmail that throw in the 9th. Or the Tigers score in more than one inning. In any event, three blown saves in last week. Pen is pretty deep and versatile but definitely lacks that Emmanuel Clase type.1 point

They have to figure out a way to pull this game out, I'm seeing the in laws tonight. I don't want to hear about a loss today.1 point

That was a warning shot to all the underperformers on the team... Just a WAG...1 point

the really hit with ant. kat is a complimentary guy, but a good one. and a good regular season player. he's just the softest player in the league. someone else has to have the ball in their hands and the balls to play physical. its obvious ant is that type of guy. kat is not. when they tried to build around kat they went nowhere.1 point

I mentioned before but it's kinda funny how Avila seemed to get better returns out of his lesser deals than he did the big name players. Aside from Olson for Norris, getting Willi Castro for Leonys Martin was a win considering the one good season Willi had and the fact he is still in the league, Gipson-Lomg for Fulmer looks like it has the potential to be a win if he can come back healthy. Then his best trade, getting Parades and Candelario for Justin Wilson and Alex Avila.1 point

Norris 4.9 career war and it was negative after he left the Tigers. Olson already has 2.4 war according to Fangraphs.1 point

The war would end immediately if you were to simply lay down your weapons and release your hostages.1 point

That could fit just about anywhere in the bottom half of the lineup...1 point

I always thought that if they would let him play 120 games he would hit .230 with 20 home runs, which these days would make a very good number 9 hitter.1 point

I would like to apologize to Bally for making fun of them for acting like Andy Ibanez is the second coming of Miggy...as today anyway, Andy Ibanez looks like the second coming of Miggy... And when does Manning replace batting practice Maeda?1 point

Lower than righties in 2022 and 23. Higher in 2021 and so far this year. You win by... a small sample size... 😉1 point

I was going to mock this post earlier for the small sample size. Now that Ibanez is up to .361, is AJ right?1 point

I am hoping for a ceasefire agreement to have both sides, Bombers and Pfife, not post anything in this thread for 48 hours. All those in favor?1 point

They need to use the softer version in MLB. I believe it would solve some problems in the game.1 point
