That's a generalization that's overbroad. As noted, curation can have value to the end consumer and there is no reason a priori for a curator not to be paid for their service if their customers see a value in it. If anything, the volume of data the internet spews makes well done curation a more valuable service than ever.3 points

JD Vance should drive through and ask him how long he's been working there.2 points

Watching NFL Network and I get a kick out of them critiquing Campbell for taking the kneel downs and trusting his kicker instead of trying to gain more yards. Not that I necessarily disagree with that assessment in a vacuum just that it's funny how when he goes for it instead of kicking a FG people just automatically assume the kick was going to be good and he should've "taken the points" or "trusted his kicker" but when he shows complete faith in him instead of risking a turnover or sack they question that too.2 points

I love that this is full of valid reasons for pessimism.... and then a 14-point win prediction. The kind of homerism this site was made for.2 points

I was glad to hear what Harris said about Torkelson needing to work on handling 'shapes' which I guess is 21st century GM argot for pitch recognition, as opposed to what Hinch usually said about Tork in earlier days, which was that he needed to 'hit good pitches.' If Harris has shifted the objective for Tork away from selectivity (which I think Tork was over doing) toward hitting what the pitcher throws in the zone, that is a direction where I think progress is possible.2 points

You would be paying for the convenience of having everythng in one place such as rotoworld which used to be free and now is a pay site. Both sites do a good job, but I personally would not pay for them. The only sites I pay for are FanGraphs and Baseball Reference.2 points

It has been frustrating waiting for Torkelson to turn into an impact hitter. I'd love to be wrong about this; but I'm not sure that it will happen. The strikeouts, pop ups and double plays are too frequent. The promise created by the 2023 season has morphed into the reality of a dismal 2024 season. If 2025 turns into a carbon copy of 2024 what are the teams options? The free agent market at first base after Pete Alonso is not impressive. Most are over 30 and long FA contracts in that age group is risky. I believe that the Polar Bear will want a long term deal at well over 200 million. I'm not sure the Tigers want to take that risk. The best option would be a huge improvement by Tork, but that is far from certain. A 2023 repeat would suffice especially with his improvement on defense. The team cannot afford a hole in the offense at first base.1 point

Is this 2 game in a row no PI calls on Arnold?1 point

Be very very careful next week. Two very emotional games then Green Bay and Houston, don't sleep on Tennessee. Anything can happen in the NFL.1 point

I like to read what the few Rams fans left say when Goff has a good game. It usually goes something like this: Rams fan: Stafford is still better. Goff is only good because of the OL and receivers. Also Rams fan: Stafford isn't good right now because the OL sucks and the receivers are injured.1 point

People putting Chiefs at #1 in the Power Rankings Uh-uh................ Lions are the best team in the NFL1 point

There is some argument that running two plays up the middle would have used up a few more seconds than the two kneeldowns, especially the second one which was immediate. But whether to gain a few more yards or to burn a few more seconds, the risk of running plays are a) punch out; and b) holding penalty that would push the ball back 10 yards and stop the clock.1 point

No kidding. Coach is awesome obviously but his ambition gets the best of him at times, that gave the Vikings a lot of unnecessary momentum to start. Regardless, big win so it's just crying over spilled milk at this point complaining about coaches decisions and you never want to go full TP.1 point

Campbell has a 70 PFF grade. He has been solid. It gets overlooked because the others have been so good.1 point

Getting Gibbs, LaPorta, and Branch in the same draft is insane. Imagine if Campbell figures it out.1 point

Raise your hand if you thought the Lions would take the lead less than halfway into the second quarter after the horrific S.O.L. start they had. Now lower your hand, because you’re lying.1 point

I was so wrong about the Gibbs pick. Dude is amazing.1 point

I’m not afraid of large free agent signings. I’m afraid of Al Avila making large free agent signings.1 point

They should have fired Campbell & Staff after the Tampa game. This is CLEARLY not working. 6-11 team.1 point

We did a park trip a couple of years ago and at Arches, we watched - and then participated in a completely self organized system where each person or couple set up their camera - handed it to the next person in line, took their pose in the arch, got their shot and so on it went for as long as we were there. Humans can do OK, once in a while.1 point

The coaches should be absolutely embarrassed with this effort so far. Three and out and horrible play calls, the worst fake punt call of all time and then a walk in TD from 35 yards. What the hell were they doing all week?1 point

McNeil's contract has been posted, and it seems a lot more team friendly. Only $28 million is guaranteed. $55 million is guaranteed for injury. They can actually get out of this contract after 2025 if they need too.1 point

It’s very nice when you’re on vacation at a site and someone agrees to take a picture of you and your wife in front of the site, although it is annoying when they hand the phone back to you after and you see they have taken fourteen of the same picture, so you have to delete thirteen of them.1 point

Pete Alonso is what Tork can only hope to be. That’s his max upside. I’m not sure how he gets there with us. I think he’s one of those gotta-go-up-there-with-a-clear-head guys.1 point

I would like to see the Tigers bring in some new players via free agency, but I would stay away from Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, Alex Bregman and Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. Scott Harris cannot make a mistake and sign a Javier Baez 2.0. Alonso and Soto are gonna want 12 year contracts and no way the Tigers should make that kind of long-term commitment.1 point

What's curious is why the Dems are not releasing any. Obviously the Blue side has not stopped polling. I know they figure fundraising to hold up better if there is a requisite amount of panic out there, but it still seems to me that at some point you can over do that - you need a little good news too if you have it.1 point

Am I the only person here who doesn’t give a flying **** about polls? So many of them are so compromised that they tell us literally nothing about what to expect from election results.1 point

MLBTR is a good site. I actually thought of starting something like that before they did. I would have tried to get some of you guys (like Edman) to join me! I am pretty sure I never would have been able to build it up the way they did though.1 point

I always saw Vierling's value as his versatility. You don't neglect to fill a regular spot b/c you have Vierling but you have Vierling around to fill those holes that always pop up, either through injury, slumps, or days off. 4 days a week you'll need to fill one of those.1 point
