Got to see my oldest and her high school choir perform at Carnegie Hall earlier this week. It brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. I’ve never had any interest in going to NYC, but ain’t no way I was missing this. Obviously the theater has its history and ambiance. Fortunately we were able to easily see her from our balcony. Then we hustled her down to Philadelphia for her final matching band performance in the Thanksgiving Day parade. It was raining and we got a bit of a late start to walk to where we thought would be a good viewing spot. We literally got to the spot just before the float in front of them. As we were approaching and couldn’t really see much, I thought for sure I heard one of their usual parade songs. We kind of lucked out to see/hear them perform one of their Christmas songs, too.5 points

Williams had no business changing the play and wasting so much clock. That's on him. But... He's like a six year old with a can of gas and a lighter. Once you see him flicking that Bic you need to put a stop to it. You just can't let him burn the house down. Eberflus should have called time once it became apparent he was changing the play3 points

Ha, got to ruin Dantonio’s day too. Keeps getting better and better. Former Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio, the defensive coordinator of Ohio State’s 2002 national championship team, was honored in between the first and second quarters for his upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.2 points

It isn't posted yet. But some Ohio State administrative Assistant has the head coach job posting already typed up.2 points

You would think a nice way to take that segment would be bringing a foster dog every week that is up for adoption, as a partnership with a shelter where you solicit donations. You'd have to vet the dog obviously (no pun intended) and make sure it's cool with crowds, but that could do a lot of good, instead of just being a dude bringing his dog to every game.2 points

Yes. And if the ball is snapped in a reasonable time that’s all food. But 12 secs went off the clock with no one in position. You cloud has the timeout then and still have time to hit the middle of the field a fire drill or a side line out and full play clock to kick the field goal. The coach failed. Every last person talking football on any platform blamed Eberflus. He got fired for it. It was on him. No one else.2 points

like mcs said, the only other ones i can think of were 1969 and the year shawn springs slipped and michigan won a similar game in cbus. 1969 was against an osu team that had not lost in 2 years. but it was in ann arbor.1 point

He had it. These announcers are real idiots. They keep calling the Buckeyes...THE Ohion State...1 point

I think he did have it but they were never going to be able to overturn that.1 point

I just want to do away with that horrible Lee Greenwood song. So overused, and not great music to begin with. It's become trite. It ranks right up there with Tony Orlando and Yellow Ribbons1 point

I miss the days of Keith Jackson and Bob Griese or Brad Nessler calling games. As time goes on I find Gus Johnson more and more insufferable. His calling Ohio State world famous errrks me and the way he celebrates every little thing they do is grating. He clearly likes Ohio State.1 point

Are the deferrals linked to a particular year? I imagine it would be part of the negotiation in the trade. I know we had this discussion when Ohtani signed but I forgot the details. Isn’t the deferred money still counted against the luxury tax threshold based on its present value?1 point

I understand, and it makes sense to hurry and run a play on 3rd down. Eberflus said they wanted to run the play at 18 seconds. When that doesn't happen, Eberflus needs to also have a contingency plan. He needs to call the timeout at around 12 seconds if the ball isn't snapped. You then need to call something to the sidelines or the end zone. If that doesn't work, kick the long FG. No way a coach should let that game end with a timeout in his pocket and not even attempting a FG. If Caleb dances around with 12 seconds and screws it up, at least you did everything you could as coach.1 point

yeah, but this is the bears. they made eberflus do a press conference this morning at 9 am and then fired him at 10. the mccaskeys make the fords look like the rooneys. the time to do a complete house cleaning was last year. they had the #1 pick with a great qb class available. get rid of eberflus and his whole staff and let harbaugh or pete carroll or someone else come in and run the show. if harbaugh didnt want poles as gm, then you fire him too. but the mccaskeys dont run a business designed to win, they run a franchise more concerned with loyalty and romanticism about the past. theyre idiots born with a silver football in their mouths. they are sitting on the most valuable franchise other than dallas and they let it sit and collect dust. i hate the bears because theyre the bears. but i doubly hate them because they are SO STUPID. its offensive.1 point

How is that last second shot by Cade to end the third not a foul? Seriously? Did Cade do something to offend the ref community or something?1 point

Well, Thompson has confidence for sure. In about a 4 minute span Indian gave him a wide open 3 from the same corner. First two were ugly and very short. Third one ripped the net. 33%!1 point

I view it as a clear victory, but not a landslide. I do not think 50% to 48% is a land slide regardless of how many electoral votes were won. I do think it's fair for the next few years to favor the Republicans. That is why they have elections and the Republicans won this time. They still govern for the entire country though, so my hope is that there will not be radical moves which change the entire fabric of the country.1 point

But again, he changed the play well after the point where a timeout should have been called. He didn’t change the play until 15 secs left. Coach set the kid up to fail. He is a rookie, of course he doesn’t understand all the nuances. Even at 10 secs you could have called a timeout!1 point

Every team in the league runs 3 or 4 guys who can shoot in their starting lineup. That's called NBA basketball and nobody is saying you shouldn't do that. That leaves you room for 1 or 2 guys who are questionable shooters and Ausar is one I'm putting in the game without question. I'm prioritizing his minutes over Holland's as well. Give me an All-NBA defender with top 5% athleticism, steals, blocks, great rebounding, good passing and bball IQ. And that's from someone who wanted Cam Whitmore over Ausar in the draft. Just don't be a dumb coach and stick him one pass away in the strong side corner (yet) like Monty did or like JB has done with Holland. It's literally the dumbest place to put a guy who can't shoot. Better yet, on offense he can be in the pick and roll as either the handler or screener. He can be the DHO hub like how they're using Duren (or how Draymond is often used). He can also operate out of the dunker spot as you called out. It works even better with Stew in the lineup since you can invert them. Now, not only do you have better spacing but you also have a better defensive Center in there to go along with Ausar's elite defense.1 point

I just prefer that all of the offensive guys play some sort of adequate defense. The fact that he had slightly more than 0 reps with a mitt in Detroit is quite telling.1 point

Eberflus said the plan was to snap the ball at 18 seconds. When it isn't snapped at 12 seconds, you call timeout. You go to plan B, which could either be a quick hitter to the sideline or a shot to the endzone. If both fail, you have a second chance for either a long field goal or another shot to the end zone. There is no way a coach should just stand and watch his team run out the clock.1 point

After 2020 the big lie was “Stop the Steal”. The 2024 version is that he has a huge mandate from a landslide when he didn’t even win 50% of the votes. So many people willing to embrace lies.1 point

The girl just informed her company she would be sticking with her December 13th retirement date. She originally planned to go last June. But they talked (guilted?) her into staying until the end of the year. They approached her again about staying into the new year and she said no. Happy for her.1 point

FWIW - guys on the radio reported that the Cubs don't want to pay Bellinger - are looking to offload him to anyone that will take his salary. Very inconsistent player to take on though - he's all over the map performance wise.1 point
