Because of Scott Harris' inaction, we have been painfully forced to rehash: ERod non-trade; non-serious offers to FA Correa; Astros cheating; Skubal trade; and Baez signing. It may be harsh, but I would fire him for this.5 points

Lots of people jumping off the bandwagon at 12-2. Pathetic. The injuries are horrible, but I do think losing this game could be a blessing in disguise. Forces them to take a long look at themselves. Anyone who gives up on this team at this point is a fool. Anyone who blames Aaron Glenn for anything is an idiot. It's a loss. This is the NFL. It's not easy. The two worries I had going into this season was we wouldn't avoid the injury bug again. We didn't. My other worry is that for the first time in my life the Lions are the hunted and that means other teams measure themselves at how they play against them and are more ready to bring their best game. But I refuse to bail on this team. Not with this coaching staff. This team is as resilient as any sports team I've ever seen. And also -- this is the start of our run not the middle or end. This team is going to be very good for several years. There's a lot of work yet to be done and they're going to have to MacGuyver this ****........and I think they certainly can.3 points

It's insane to me that anyone would jump off this bandwagon after all the years of absolutely awful squads, this team is so fun no matter what.2 points

Well, there is this, too, although it is from five days ago. Maybe this is where "afternoon radio guy" got it.1 point

Good comparison. And as a longtime Lions fan, no matter what happens, it's been a great and fun season. Sure, thousands of fans will be jumping off the bandwagon but as a fan, all I ever asked for was close exciting games. And the last 2 seasons have given fans that.1 point

Yeah, Beasley-Cade-Thompson-Harris-Duren/Stewart should be the starting lineup. I understand the stigma about not starting. But Ivey would still get 30+ minutes a night. I doubt his stats take a hit at all, and maybe go up since he is playing against bench guys. To me, this is more about Beasley than Ivey. If Beasley isn't around I would have no problem starting Ivey. I wonder if they wait on making a change until after the trade deadline.1 point

Bears have gotten worse without Eberflus. He was the play caller on defense.1 point

You’re just a fair weather fan. You gloat about how you don’t let the lions ruin your Sundays anymore. It doesn’t bother you when they lose. So why even watch? For better or worse, it ruins my Sunday when they lose. Judge all you want for priorities, but that’s my life. And quit being dishonest. You’ve let all nuance escape you. I’ve been high on ben Johnson all year have paid out tons of complaints. Aaron Glenn has had a decent year, but as far DCs go, he is well below the mean in scheme ability. He is a phenomenal leader of men, but we already have one of those. I want a DC that knows you’re allowed to play more than man to man. Either way, if it doesn’t bother you anymore than ignore me and stop responding, hypocrite.1 point

Yep. Been saying this for 2 years now about Ausar. His most used play type last year was corner three because Monty never figured it out and put him in the worst possible scenario on offense. Hopefully JB will figure it out sooner. Not only should he be used as the screener, but let him be the DHO hub as well like the Warriors do with Draymond and the Pistons are trying to do with Duren (5 turnovers yesterday).1 point

Yep. You know I've been on that bandwagon for a while now. His defense was outstanding (5 stocks, point of attack defense, weakside rim protection, rebounding), and he just knows how to make himself available on offense with cuts and smart plays even though he's a bit raw on that end. Blew a couple easy ones early otherwise his numbers would have been even better. That dunk was (almost) ridiculous. This game also shows why Beasley should be starting. Having that pure shooter who can do it off the catch and off of movement is just a huge benefit to Cade and the team. It's no coincidence that Cade got 18 Assists tonight with Beasley in there instead of Ivey. I'd hate to bench Ivey and reduce his trade value, but if they aren't planning to trade him then that's the answer. EIther way, the starting lineup needs some changes because it's been bad this season.1 point

That's what I am saying. This loss might actually be a GOOD thing. A thing that galvanizes them.1 point

Honestly, this is the issue with the team. Everyone is getting injured attempting to run through walls.1 point

I am assume you have never managed professional baseball players, so maybe your opinion is just as invalid as you say mine is.1 point

Campbell has essentially replaced Barnes, Ownuzurike has quietly played well, and Melifonwu could be back. Arnold is better than what Sutton was at the end of the last year.1 point
-
Arnold is playing much better now than Sutton was then, plus you got an improved Campbell, Branch and Joseph.1 point

Hutch+McNeil+Barnes+Iffy (who was a major factor in the playoffs) vs. Smith+Reader. Arnold and Sutton are pretty much a saw-off. We'll see if Anzalone comes back at 100%, if not that's another big loss. Maybe Iffy comes back and gives them a boost but his health is always.... Iffy. The defense is considerably worse now. With that said, I was kind of doom and gloom yesterday due to the initial shock of all the season ending injures being still fresh but I'm in a different mindset this morning of just choosing to be enjoy the rest of the season, it's been a fun ride. What else can we do? No use stressing out over something as trivial as football so I'll just cheer on the team without the weight of expectations and worry of failure and hope for the best.1 point

Starting pitching has been VERY expensive this off season so far yet starters are pitching fewer and fewer innings. That doesn't make sense. Are we at the peak of Starters pay without the Industry realizing the cost will drop in the years ahead ? Didn't the 2024 Tiger chaos provide a glimpse into the future ? Spending 200 million plus for pitching seems really old school. I wouldn't do it. Pitchers break and Starters innings are decreasing. The future is 4 to 5 innings and bringing pitchers to the show quickly and turning them over is it not ? If mid market teams are going to compete for players in free agency they need to budget their limited funds to position players and develop pitchers.1 point

Cade numbers on the year. 23.5 ppg 7.5 rpg 9.7 apg shooting 38.6% from three on 6.3 attempts per game His numbers in December: 23.4 ppg 8.6 rpg 12.2 apg shooting 42.4% on 6.6 attempts per game1 point

It's a numbering rule. If he's wearing an ineligible number but is lined up at an eligible position, he must report as eligible.1 point

You just come around here and **** on everything about the team. Fire Ben Johnson if every drive isn't a touchdown. Fire Aaron Glenn if he can't make a 2nd sting defense stop Josh Allen. You're a joke. You're just a troll. If the Lions stumble you'll go around banging a drum about being right because they didn't win every single game. You have the most ridiculous standard of anyone. If they aren't 17-0 then the coordinators suck and should be fired. You're just a troll.1 point

I like Thompson in the starting lineup. When Harris gets back I would love to see Thompson replace Hardaway in the starting lineup.1 point

? Why would the team ever do that? Not only would that waste valuable resources (FA money) but it would also make Skubal less valuable on the trade market.1 point

I grew up in the 70's HATING the Vikings...esp from 70-74 when we had decent teams that somehow always lost to them. If that happens this year...I'm gonna....get really mad1 point

The advantage we have is that we could extend him now and pay him $30M per season for his two remaining arb years—he wouldn’t get anything close to that going to arbitration. And if he has another serious injury over the next two seasons, he may never get paid. Just comes down to how much risk he wants to assume.1 point

The problem I have with all this congressional trading is the inside information they know. They buy in way early because they know what's coming down. That is documented, and it matters. It is also illegal. If you have a true market - price discovery - everyone gets the same information at the same time. They should not be allowed to trade at all. At the same time, this is why all these ****wads are there - they get rich - because they are ass kissing ****wads. They are laughing at us while they fleece us.1 point

for good or ill, no developed country in the world today will deliberately operate their central banking system to produce deflation. It just isn't going to happen, because every central banker in the world today believes deflation is far more dangerous to an economy than any impact of any typical inflation. Again, a very plain simple fact of which most Americans are ignorant because; politicians find it more convenient to lie and obfuscate than just explain/admit the facts, and the (vast majority of the) media is economically illiterate.1 point

Speaking of the omnipresence of cheating and how we kind of don’t care I was reminded of our much beloved Norm Cash and his alleged corked bat in 1961. He hit .361 that year and .249 the next.1 point

Trump himself promised he would show up with a metaphoric magic wand, and that he would bring prices down on day one. https://nypost.com/2024/08/15/us-news/trump-blasts-kamala-harris-high-grocery-prices-and-maduro-plan-while-standing-in-front-of-cheerios-meat/ “So when I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one. We will end Kamala’s war on American energy, and we will drill baby drill. We’re going to drill, baby drill that’s going to bring down prices of everything, because energy brought it up,” Trump went on. Also: https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/donald-trump-rally-north-carolina/2024/09/21/id/1181213/ "Groceries and rent will no longer break your budgets, and you will have thousands of dollars of savings by the end of the year," said Trump. "We're going to get your energy costs down in one year. We're going to get your energy costs down by 50%. We'll cut it in half. We're going to cut it in half. It means young people will once again be able to afford a mortgage and a home."1 point

Fun fact: Rocky is the only player in Tigers history to play 163 games in a season.1 point
-
He was my aunt’s heartthrob as a girl. She was 10 when the Tigers acquired him, 13 when he was traded. Years later you could mention his name and her eyes would light up and she’d start gushing about how wonderful he was.1 point

I loved this guy and his stats in the early 60's were just ridiculous for low strikeouts by a home run hitter. What an arm, he played left because Kaline was already in right. That's the best pair of corner outfielders for the Tigers for the past 75 years, maybe ever. Ernie Harwell just loved to say that name.1 point

He seems like a JD Martinez type.... not a lot of time here and success elsewhere but the fans here really took to him and loved him. He and MIckey Tettleton were the only two former players invited to the closing ceremonies at Tiger Stadium that didn't come. I don't know if Rocky had a beef with the org?0 points
