  2. Dave Ramsey is definitely extreme, but if more young people listened to him, they'd be better off for it. I've been listening to the Money Guys podcast and youtube recently, they're alot more balanced and down to earth than Ramsey.

  3. Just acting like an asshole. Or he’s ignorant and can’t read. He’s gotten to the point where he contributes nothing of value to this forum. He used to but now he’s gone full troll. That’s what happens when people get infested with the maga bug. It’s a virus that eats brain cells.

  6. The people that rip Ramsey seem to be the upper middle class. They bought their $700K house for $200K 20 years ago, its paid off, they have a few million in their 401K. Ramsey isn't for those people. He is for the couple that doesn't own a home, has $2500 a month car payments, no savings, no 401K, $100K in CC debt, etc etc. He is basically chemotherapy. You wouldn't put that junk in a healthy person. But a sick person is begging for it.

  8. Still, did you not notice people that overreacted initially come back and retract it? I haven't been on this site much due to vacation and prior to catching up on this thread last night, I had seen the video posted about this husband as well as another video which wasn't cropped as much where his cane was more obvious (you mean someone posted it in a way to illicit a rejection...oh my!). So yes, I was a little annoyed at the overreaction as well and was going to post about it.... but instead doing that, I finished catching up on the thread and saw people admit they may have made a mistake. End of story. I know it's not as fun as 'getting a win', but you don't always have to go for the gotcha, especially when folks already admitted they may have made a mistake. You could have chosen to still post something and point to the cropped video and made commentary pointing out the left pulls the same crap the right is accused of and left it at that. That would have been a valid point, instead you mock them about just needing to find a way to be outraged, which is a tough pill to swallow when the current leader of the GOP (Elon) is on his social media platform daily expressing outrage at anything he can find.

  9. I thought I'd start something new. One of my current interests is the road leading up the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The events and thoughts of the leaders of that time that lead to the decision to meet in Philadelphia in 1776. 1774 was a pivotal year with the events in Boston and the Colonies reaction to England's reaction the dumping of tea in the Boston Harbor (among other events). Anyway, here goes https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Franklin/01-21-02-0238

  10. Dave Ramsey is the Dr. Laura of financial shows. They both appear to build themselves up by making callers feel bad or stupid. Not that it's undeserved, but it feels more like it's for the benefit for other listeners to feel good about the decisions they make in their own lives than it is to help the callers they are hammering, which, they aren't.

  13. So if we make Canada and Greenland states, we also need to make Puerto Rico and Washington DC official as well. How many Electorial votes would Canada get? What about Greenland? Shouldn't we also make individual provinces states as well, instead of one big country? Give DC and Puerto Rico the Senate representation they deserve along with all the other territories The US claims. The same with Panama, since the Musk/Trump Administration seems to want it. 14. I remember watching an NBA playoff game a couple of years ago in Atlanta vs. Milwaukee. Giannis would take a long time on his free throws, and the fans would start a countdown. I would love to see the Lions fans do a similar countdown.

  15. .500! Who had that on their predictions at the beginning of the year? I was one of the more positive people on the signings this offseason in the face of so many on here saying, "it's the same team as last year", but I would never have guessed they'd be at .500 this deep into the season. Cade has taken a leap and the vet role players have been available, unlike the past few seasons. They've also taken turns stepping up. A lot of big Beasley games, but THJ has won a few games as well, and now Tobias has really stepped up since Ivey went down. JB deserves a lot of credit as well. He's not free from criticism, but he's doing exactly what I expected which is raising the floor of this team and getting them to punch above their weight. Not a championship coach, but such a huge improvement over Monty and Casey who always had their teams playing below their talent level rather than above it. Most of all, it's fun to watch this team again. And unlike the last time they were .500, this is a team on the rise rather than a 1 year push to get the 8th seed before everyone loses their jobs.

  18. I doubt Bregman will take any short term deal because he's 31 and coming out agin at 34 is not advantageous. And if he wanted a one year pillow then Comerica is not ideal. Santander isn't happening IMHO. Brace for someone like Austin Hays or Randal Grichuk , players who hit lefties well, cost less, and as spring training nears will be willing to accept a platoon role.

  19. I think the gray area for the play clock and delay of game is fine. Like the strike zone in baseball or the myriad other calls in football and other sports that require some degree of judgment. I think the mechanics of the snap requires there to be some gray area, and it’s not something you could reasonably police in real time with a light or buzzer. It’s not basketball where you can have a reasonably objective and clear determine of when the ball has left the shooter’s hand. You can get that from a still image.

  20. what does the rulebook say? Seems like somethig you could easily fix in a matter of a few seconds. Ask for an official review and get the right call. Is it at zero or is it at zero -1? I'm not being sarcastic, I don't really know. To me, logically if it's not snapped when you see a zero, then it's a violation. Is what we see on TV the official clock? It's 2025, it shouldn't be like this. This is not a gray area. In sports there are a lot of gray areas so for the ones where there's not it should be as perfect as possible.

  22. yep. I was pushed a series of women bowling. I clicked on one once because I thought it would be something funny or interesting, like a trick shot. Nope. Just a nice looking woman with a big booty bowling. Nothing interesting about it beyond that. Then I got more of them. Different women. I guess that's a thing? I wish they had a feature where you could could say something like "More like this" or "less like this". I'm not saying I'm perfect or anything but that's not what I want my social media to be about.

  23. I think it's going to depend on a LOT of questions that we won't ever have the answers to: 1. What do the Doctor's say about the health/strength of his bone? If the docs give the okay... if they say it's as strong as it was or will be, then proceed. If they are iffy... if they are saying that it's only 85% (or less) back to full strength, then you probably have to not play him. 2. What is Hutch's conditioning like? Is he in game shape? Has he been able to work on conditioning for a few weeks? Has he been able to practice in pads? Has he been able to hit people and get hit himself for at least a week before the game? If he's not cleared to practice until like 3 days before the game, then he's not going to be contributing and shouldn't be playing. 3. What's the state of the defense leading up to the SB? If they've been playing well then the need for Hutch is reduced, but if they've just been getting by (or worse) then maybe you lean more towards getting Hutch in there. As for your bonus question: I don't think Gamblin' Dan really gambles too much on player health. He was a player himself so he knows the mentality but I also think he's smart enough to know that they have to listen to the Docs. If he's not physically ready, Campbell will not play him. However, if he's physically ready... even if he's only been able to have limited practice leading up to the SB, I think Campbell will do his best to at least get Hutch in the game a few times. No one is more aware than Campbell is about the lack of certainty in the game. While I don't think this is the case, this may be the only SB Hutch gets a chance to play in (obviously assuming we get to the SB) and Campbell will want him to have had a chance to play, even if it's just a few times on third down passing plays.

  24. Regarding the delayed or not called delay of game penalties. I saw a couple of stories about solutions. My favorite is wire the goalposts to light up when time expires on the play clock. That way the refs don't have to constantly keep one eye on the snap and the other on the clock. Either that or sound the horn when the P-C expires.

  32. Cheese is one of those thing where it matters what you want to do with it. I'm only a few hours from the Amish country in Ohio and they have some kick ass baby Swiss. I like that sliced thin to put on sandwiches, but it comes in a wedge. I have a hand slicer that does a slice about 3/32 (guessing, would be interesting to put a caliper on it) thick and 1 3/4 wide that works great. Grating is another story. Cheese likes to gum up, and temperature matters. But we all know that. I would go with horsepower. I've still got one of these and it works like a charm. This is manual, and I'm sure there are electric as well. Can be found on Amazon.

  41. Rewatching the game and props, big props, to Brock Wright for hustling after Gibbs on a big run he busted in the 4th quarter with 9:26 remaining. Gibbs fumbled at the end of the run and Brock showed some heads up play and hustle with his recovery. Pretty huge play.

  43. Worse than that really. It's not fear of the person, it's fear of admitting the person's humanity, because once you do that, the whole edifice of your ideology is at risk.

  44. The holidays got in the way and I never continued this conversation. The "have some fun with it" was in reference to fans, like me, who bring this up. But I bring it up because Verlander, at least, compares favorably to somebody like Alex Cobb. They both stunk in 2024. But they were pretty similar in 2023 (Max was a little behind but not too far). So if that is the type of guy the Tigers are looking for, yeah, it appeals to me to bring back Verlander. And if we think Fetter & Co. can coax more performance out of Cobb, why do we not think that about Verlander or Scherzer? I don't really expect that it's going to happen, but I like the idea.

  45. Oh, I don’t know about that. What if Torkleson gets his act together and Keith is deserving of playing time? Torres has a kicker in his deal if he gets traded, but so what. Pay it, move him, and play the guys with a future in Detroit. Ideally I think that’s what we should be hoping for as a best case scenario. All 3 prove/reprove themselves as major league hitters, another team needs a guy like Torres, and the Tigers get Torres’ production through that point and can get a prospect of some nature for him before losing him to free agency.

  46. During one of our Christmas season gatherings, one of my nephews mentioned he was taking an art class. He's done brass work and sculpture but never really tried portraits. He was looking for some subjects for class. My wife sent him a picture of our son, who's about his age, and he did a great job. He then asked for a shot of our grand son. This is what we got. It's now been framed and ready to be hung
