What else are we going to think about at this time of year? The best part of the Super Bowl is that it signals the end of football and the begining of baseball.6 points
-
No. No it is not. The super bowl is like a yankees-red sox game on Sunday night baseball before pitch clocks. Everything takes 3x as long, and then you have to do "God Bless America " and "Sweet Caroline" times 100 for the halftime show. JUST PLAY THE DAMN GAME. I know, I know, everyone needs to make their money, but it is unwatchable to me.2 points

I agree on Bregman. I'm tired of him. I know it is a whole different world for them, but I don't understand holding out for the biggest contract possible when you are talking millions and millions of dollars. Just pick the team/city that would bring you the most joy and take however many millions they will give you. But that's just me...2 points

The pregame show started on Friday. But back to baseball...is Bregman going to Japan or something? I hope nobody signs the idiot. Unless it's us, then he's great. 😆2 points

I hate the SuperBowl. It's all commercials and singing and dancing. Now, that nobody invites me to Patriots Super Bowl parties anymore, there is no reason to watch. Getting millions of people to tune in specifically to watch commercials is one of the biggest scams in US history.2 points

Hell I’d take a 6th rounder or a bag of pucks if it could be done without retention.2 points

I almost hope Bregman signs with whomever tomorrow during the Super Bowl and the story is snowed under by its relative insignificance compared to the game. I’m tired of thinking about this guy.2 points

I see this cancer ad during the Super Bowl. Anti-vax HHS Director RFK Jr. wants to pause all federal funding on research of diseases. So who knows what cancer research will look like going forward.1 point

President Musk has already started to tip their hand in his Twitter replies. Anyone that questions his processes, supports waste and corruption in government. It doesn’t matter if it’s constitutional or not. Ends justify the means, the legality of it be damned.1 point

My. take on this: I’m sure the agents and the union are in lockstep in holding the line on asking salaries. If one contract is signed for less than asking that can have a direct negative effect on another free agents market standing. One contract signing will have an influence, good or bad, depending, on other contracts. I believe some of these players would be willing to take less than their agents are asking but the agents and union know that to give an inch on one deal will impact future contracts in the future.1 point

The ascendancy of football over baseball as the nation's primary sports obsession generally parallels the general collapse of civility in American society. Just sayin'........... That said, I'll be watching with some friends tonight....🤷♀️1 point

Luka about to drop 84 on these fools next game. The fact he thinks this statement somehow helps him is mind blowing. Taking a giant dump on your organizations second favorite player is never a good idea. I assume he doesn't mean 370 pound Shaq?1 point

If the Tigers go further into the playoffs if could be possible to catch a baseball, hockey, football and basketball game in Detroit in a weekend. I have a friend who caught a hockey, football and basketball game on a Saturday and Sunday1 point

think about how much the us will dominate this competition when canada is the 51st state!1 point

That's what I thought. Anybody who attempts a coup against our country doesn't deserve security, so that was a good move.1 point

The thing that worries me is that while the ship of state is sinking because of the unfit captain and his unqualified first mate, many close friends and relatives will be drown because of budget cuts that removed life boats and vests1 point

https://www.thebulwark.com/p/ezra-klein-the-resistance-back-from First Bulwark podcast that had a glimmer of hope in awhile. Not sure I agree with Ezra, but he makes some points on why it might be good that Trump doesn't have guardrails like he did in his first team. Essentially the argument is Trump's stupid decisions could sink him quick in the public, whereas he had folks to save him from that last time.1 point

Missed the game but I heard that Ausar was impressive running the team. I've always felt that he had the 2nd highest ceiling on this team, has elite of the elite athleticism and feel for the game so if he got his 3 point shot up to respectable levels he could be an All Star and even if he doesn't (like what his brother is now) that's still a very good player. Tiny sample size but with Ausar running the team so well it makes me wonder if they should try an experiment of him sharing the ballhandling duties with Cade and seeing if they have something with Cade playing some offball which I always thought he would excel at, not that he isn't excelling as is as the primary ballhandler but in terms of scoring efficiency which has kind of cratered a bit lately.1 point

yeah, He was a steal which may be the most important reason they signed him.1 point

If the cost of getting gleybor means that they have to move Colt off 2B a year earlier than planned, so be it. I don’t really hold it against him for advocating for himself. It’s up to the teams to call him on it. My guess is he can still play 2B just fine. Honestly not sure why tigers fans dislike this guy so much, but will argue over Englert vs kreidler, or losing Faedo. .1 point

Remember the one time the Sharks dared Deuce to jump his 10 speed over Stutton Creek, so he attached bottle rockets to his spokes to give him an extra boost and one bottle rocket flew off and went into Tammy Gundersons hair? Deuce totally would’ve made that jump too if it wasn’t so windy that day.1 point

Would be that bold to cut Justin Tucker now. He's about 40% of what he used to be. But why are we surprised. I know it's a kicker, but these athletes, in all major sports, are treated like Gods and are having adults kiss up to them as early as 14 years old. They can do no wrong. You hear that enough and you start believing this. Add to that this anti-woman direction this country's going in and I don't get surprised by any of this crap anymore. We love sports, it's a bond between a lot of people here, but you really need to admit that most of the people involved in sports, especially football, are horrible human beings1 point
