  2. It sounds like Boston is having a bit of drama at 3rd base. That's just....too bad. 🤣🤣 https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/redsox/2025/02/18/rafael-devers-third-base-alex-bregman/79056057007/ https://x.com/iansewell_/status/1891544728404918293?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1891544728404918293|twgr^80260d4ad57119b1a4e4766d069975e37c7a70b2|twcon^s1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffansided.com%2F3-teams-who-should-try-and-pry-rafael-devers-from-boston-amid-alex-bregman-drama

  7. And there are links calling for Boston to trade him to....Detroit. Yeah, it'll never happen and the writers are just speculating, but it's fun seeing the chaos in Boston. Idiots HAD an All-Star 3rd baseman on a big contract and went out and signed another 3rd baseman for $40 million per year. Pretty stupid. I hope they finish in 5th place in the East.

  9. To me it's a state issue. She has the power in her state to remove an offical in her state. "States Rights". If the voters don't like it they can speak at the ballot box. It's not an issue for Washington to concern itself with. Of course that's the logic in the old way of doing things. Today it's all different and the old rules don't apply.

  10. me too... Bill Burr was on a show the other week, not long after the fires in LA, and said his therapist told him it's a way of blocking out bigger issues. Not sure if he was serious or just playing his bit but it makes sense. So he could blow off and be calm after a big thing, like his house burning down, "ah well you know... it's just stuff. we're ok. Good to start fresh ya'know" but then go ape **** when the toaster isn't consistent. You compartmentalize the big stuff but compensate by overreacting to the little stuff. My wife saw it and just looked at me....

  11. As a fellow prickly person, game recognizes game. You, sir, are the Michael Jordan of prickly. That might come off insulting but thats not the intention. I get so much of what prickles you and am amazed at how deep the rabbit hole goes.

  12. This is what I was referring to and MegaH failed to properly defend, despite tying himself into a pretzel. They talk a good game concerning "Free Speech" but their actions show otherwise. https://www.thebulwark.com/p/jd-vance-free-speech-hypocrisy-munich-security-conference-berates-europe-democracy?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

  14. Edit: I was going to change that back to "from Elon, from Russia" but I like it better with the glitch.

  15. I spent more than my fair share of time in the 90s in college defending the Military's policy pre-Don't Ask, Don't Tell. I think its weird how I no longer give a crap about any of this except in the reasonable accommodation aspect. Reasonable has a different meaning in a war zone. However, war zone has a different meaning in the modern World too. We are in a war zone in our homes because there is a threat to the country burrowing into our data systems from China, from Elon for Russia. Its not all the volcanic ash of Iwo Jima or the jungles of Vietnam or Burma anymore.

  16. Meanwhile there is a reporter for the Nantucket High School Beacon who has been hiding in the dry wall in the locker room at the Red Sox facility with a breathing tube and 5 days of food and water waiting to reveal a locker room incident involving the toothpaste caps of two assistant coaches being put on the wrong tubes of toothpaste. "You MUTHAF&*Ker! I told you Gleem and Arm and Hammer are TWO DIFFERENT COLORS!"

  17. I could see Devers wondering “What am I, chopped liver?” But according to the Red Sox MLB beat writer, he and Bregman are the best pals already. They can barely restrain themselves from breaking into song and singing “we are the world…“

  18. I was big into it in the 90s when it was on during the day on NBC, since it's been on prime time the only times I really watched was when MJ made his return in 01 or 02 and the year the Pistons had all their All Stars. Aside from that I don't think I've watched more than an hour total of the actual game in 25 years.

  19. If the Red Sox want to win, they'll put the Gold Glove winner at third base, bring the kid up to play second, and move the stone glove to DH. If the Red Sox want to mollify their high-priced players, they'll keep Stoneglove at third, play the new guy out of position at second, and keep both the kid in the minors and their fingers crossed. My Red Sox fan buddy is none too happy about all this.

  22. To me it's not a matter of replacing McKinstry, I don't mind him as the utility guy but I want a real shortstop ready behind Javy - i.e. I think Sweeney has to be on the team and not just a trip from Toledo away unless Javy is by some miracle going to be playing at a 9 out of 10 game pace. Or put another way, I don't mind how much McKinstry plays or even if he does or doesn't make the team as long as he isn't asked to play much SS. Of course that's the problem because if Javy is playing but only 1/2 time or even worse RH platoon, they don't want to carry a utility guy and a second SS. I would say tough - drop an OF if you have to, you have to catch the ball on the IF. It's simply more important (IMO) than another marginal bit of match up flexibility for Hinch.

  23. I asked Hinch how Larish, Fick, Munson and Shelton were looking at third base and he had the same thing to say about each of them: "Moves well for a big man, has soft hands and a strong, accurate arm."

  24. The in memoriam to jokes that didn't age well was really good too. Rewatched the Scared Straight again and in that sketch you get a sense of the perils of live sketch comedy. The audio wasn't great, maybe because the crowd was too loud but I had trouble picking out what they said. That's where rehearsals come in.

  25. listening to Tiger Territory this AM they said our prospective Toledo rotation would be better than anything the White Sox MLB club could put together. That's fun.

  26. For all of you Tiger podcast listeners, I had no idea the bearded one is Kieran. How does a guy who has a beard sound like his balls still haven’t dropped yet. His voice belongs with Cody’s face. This is really messing with me.

  27. I think this is where I am at. My guess. The league knows the players and fans both hate it. But it probably still makes money so they keep having it.

  28. I go back a bit...the all star game post NBA/ABA merger in 1977 was awesome. You got to see guys like Dr J and Gervin going against guys like Kareem and Elvin Hayes for the 1st time. That a game from almost 50 years ago is the only all star game I have a clear recollection of says something about the All Star game. Four nations has been fun...but the rest of the laegue's all star formats are lacking. Baseball is OK, but interleague play kinda ruined the mystique of hat one. Football's "all star" game is pretty much dead. Are these games even worth doing these days?

  29. Nathan Lane's Hakuna Matata parody was great. Eddie Murphy doing Tracy Morgan also. I thought it was enjoyable, and wonder how many other people will join me on my slow burn binge. Just started S3 yesterday.

  31. Well I suppose if he doesn't go to his left well he should benefit from having an ex-2b on that side, who should have more than average range for a 1B. Hope Tiger pitchers stay ready to cover 1st.

  33. Ernie was the best at capturing that magic of a kid just called up. He did an interview with Fred Holdsworth in the mid-70s that stuck with me. It was Fred's first day and he was bubbling over with excitement. He was thrilled to be interviewed by Ernie and Ernie was as warm and encouraging as could be.

  35. I coached youth baseball for five years or so when my son was of age. I have four grandsons nine years and under that play baseball. Of course, my son is coaching youth baseball now. I enjoy this kind of stuff. My wife is a team player that is a legit baseball fan! Thank you for sharing your experiences. 👍

  36. The back fields are a weird experience. Last time I was there was when Wilkin Hernandez saved my son's life by jumping over the wall and bringing back a HR ball that I was foolishly trying to catch with my son on my shoulders. The ramifications of the ball hitting the kid instead of my hands which I was using to hold him were lost on gormless me. Back then, you could back then just go back there and watch drills and scrimmages they had going on. You'll see a lot of infield scenario practices. The pitchers have to be HERE when the ball goes to RF and there is a runner on second. The runner being drilled on how far to lead off on the fly ball, etc. They are experienced at Baseball but they do the drills to make it all second nature. Its of great interest if you are a youth sports coach or otherwise a nut about the game, but your non-baseball addict wife or kids might be bored out of their minds.

  37. Or it could be some of us are not great about staying in the lines the first time. Rather that crowd a neighboring car and risking dings or scratches we try to get it right the second time
