PS: I think he would do better if was not the "ONLY" guy. Which, basically, he was by that time. Last man standing and I don't think he's a "do-it-alone" guy, certainly not at this stage of his career. He needs Hutch, and McNeil, and any other help we can get on the DL because... he just does. I don't think that makes him a no value guy... Just a DE with a "specific, veteran" value. Whatever that is. I would have signed Davis to that deal I think. We can't go out there with Arnold and Rakestraw as our starting CBs. They have to make a commitment to a veteran guy now, be it another trade or signing. Even though Davis had a better year than Kendall Fuller, I'm still a bit puzzled that we traded a 3rd round pick for Davis for a one year rental, as opposed to signing Fuller for the cost of no pick.

There are some absurd contracts going out now. Most them by teams not considered Super Bowl contenders. Holmes will feast on the leftovers.

Jones turning into anything at this point is a definite long shot, but if he has one hot month and it gets us to Vierling, it will be a good acquisition.

This is true for **** franchises that have no real history of success. See Buffalo, Ottawa, Anaheim. It shouldn’t take a serious franchise with quality leaders and accountability to get back to competing for a cup. Colorado was the worst team in the league in 2017. They made the playoffs in 2019 and won the cup in 2023. Florida missed playoffs in 2018 & 2019. They won the President’s Cup in 2022 and the cup last year. It shouldn’t take the Red Wings 10 years. There’s been a lot incompetence and poor decisions from the top.
