Regarding Massie... yes he's often a tool and I disagree with him vehemently on things. But I fully support his stance on this Epstein stuff. I think the hoax theory isn't going to work for him since his supporters and those around him are the ones who pushed the story the hardest. Connecting the dots, I think there is a good chance he was involved in some horrible things. At the very least, I think he knew what was happening and is covering it up. I also think we'll never know what happened. Wealthy powerful people pretty much always get away with everything. Even if the women revealed names, they'd be called liars and maybe intimidated or bribed into changing their stories. Keeping the story in the news and hurting Trump politically and legacy-wise is probably the maximun we could hope for.

@casimir mentioned weeks ago how Kahnle falls off a cliff after a certain number of innings. I wonder if they purposely gave him "a month off" (which is basically what has happened), to try to reset his stamina and to hopefully get him back pitching well for the very end of the season and the playoffs. If so, I could be convinced that @casimir caught Scott Harris' attention at a game a while ago and was able to convince him of this plan.

Whether or not someone gets the death penalty also requires due process. The only way this incident can be justified is if they knew for certain that this group was an immediate threat to lives of Americans. Possession of drugs or trying to get people into the country illegally is not justification for this.

I'm an old fogy and I'm all in on Benetti. I also like Dirks and to a lesser degree Scales, partly just because they were hitters. In recent years so many MLB analysts have been pitchers and I guess I've watched enough baseball that you can't really tell me anything I haven't already heard about what a pitcher is doing/trying to do. Getting the the perspective of hitters/fielders who have played the game relatively recently is just refreshingly informative to me. Plus TBH, Dirks explains a pitching grip as well as Petry does.

I agree, but it's a double-edged sword. Dirks's ability to match Benetti has the downside of sending Jason off script too much for my liking. When they're on, though, they're great. Also, I think I'm the only one here who doesn't really like Bobby Scales. He talks way too much and way to fast, IMO. It's baseball, Bobby, not hockey. Airtime is less precious because the pace of the game is slower.

I believe Meadows in centerfield and Baez playing more shortstop would help the pitching staff.

Not meaning you here, but so many people have opinions about whether it's pitching or hitting that wins games. It's not one or the other. It's both. You can't have one without the other. If a team has the best pitching in baseball, they're not going to win squat if they can't hit, and the same the other way others. It's all a big deal. A team needs to be able to at least do one at an average level if they're going to win having among the best of the other. They haven't been as good at either since the break, but the reason the Tigers have the best record in the American League is because they are 8th in run scoring and 13th in run prevention for the year. That's a pretty good combination to have when it comes to winning games, and honestly, had you told me back in August 2022 that would be where the Harris would have the Tigers in September 2025, along with the most loaded system in Baseball waiting in the wings, I would have fell out of my chair in disbelief.
