  1. It’s logically and morally impossible for anyone to defend this admin and it’s people in a serious way. That’s why the forum lost all of its right leaners or they don’t post. They know they would get destroyed with reason and fact. The intellectual wing left the Republican Party. All that’s left are kooks, trolls, and grifters.

  2. I suspect any real trade “haul” will ultimately underwhelm compared to what is being speculated by podcasters and ex-general managers.

  5. It’s easy to hindsight at this point. And I can’t say I’ve expressed your thoughts here before before, but that’s the Baker Mayfield I’ve always seen when the Lions have played them these past few years. Overthrowing guys, making mistakes at the worst times, which is why I never understood the MVP talk earlier.

  7. Once again, my belief the division winners shouldn't get automatic playoff births is rearing the ugly side of its head. This time it could have a major negative impact on The Lions. After Tampa lost to Atlanta yesterday, there is a real chance that the winner of the NFC South has a losing record. However, that team will still get a playoff spot. This is BS! There's a real shot that an 8-9 Buccaneers or Panthers team makes it in, while an 11-6 or 12-5 Lions team (or someone else) is left out. Just because you win a garbage ass division, by getting to play a bunch of bad teams twice on your schedule, doesn't mean you should get an automatic playoff birth. It's pathetic that the NFC South gets a team in, while a team with a winning record playing in one of the clearly superior NFC North and NFC West divisions, might not get in. Overall record should matter more than winning a crappy division. I'll never change my mind on this.

  8. I was messing around with ChatGPT trying to compile an acquisition breakdown for each of the 12 2025 playoff teams and I noticed the supporting links Chat provided all point to this https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/how-all-12-mlb-playoff-team-rosters-were-built-for-2025/?utm_source=chatgpt.com . A lot of interesting stuff in there. For example, the Brewers had only 4 draftees and 2 international signings on the team. 14 players were obtained via trade. The Mariners, also built through trades, has a similar but somewhat less extreme composition. Cleveland was by far the best at homegrown talent. Cleveland has 18 players who originally signed with them still on their roster—no other team has more than 13. In addition, 27 players from all playoff teams had started with the Guardians. The Tigers and the Reds were recognized as draft built teams with 9 drafted players each. Both the Tigers and the Reds have had a lot of high draft picks from 2017 - 2022. As the Tigers make the playoffs, they will no longer have high picks. The question would be whether they will be like the Guardians or Milwaukee. The Guardians have been making the playoffs more often than not since at least 2017. They have managed to bring in a lot of players despite low picks in the draft. They are exceptionally skilled at drafting and garnering international players. Since 2018 Milwaukee has been a playoff team 7 times. Not many early round picks. They have replenished their team through trades.

  9. Baker Mayfield has been downright terrible for the last 5 games. He’s the main reason the Bucs have sucked. Tonight is more of the same with him holding the ball like a rookie for way too long and also throwing inaccurate ball after inaccurate ball. Al & Kirk continue to gloss him up and ignore all of it. Not one bit of criticism and any questions about the ****tiness of his game.

  12. One of these days I've got to meet him. Not as a fanboy (I'm 58), but because I think he'd get a chuckle that someone has been wearing his jersey since 1984 to probably a couple dozen games in half a dozen NHL rinks. Ogrodnick is still quite active in alumni events, including as recently as the 100th anniversary week in November. I had been home to Sarnia the week before so just missed that (also was home last week but no Wings games so I went to Bucks @ Pistons instead, my first time in LCA in a few years).

  13. And then there is AI and health care....Good idea? Maybe not. Here is an article about using AI in health care. I'll paste one quote from the article; AI’s errors may be impossible to eliminate – what that means for its use in health care That doesn't sound good. Wonder what a real doctor might say? One of the financial blogs I read has a doctor who has posted there for quite a few years. I think he's a smart and good guy from reading all his stuff over the years, so I trust him. This is his reply to that article which is being discussed; If wasn't already skeptical of our medical system...

  14. I don't agree with that at all. He'd like to have a great team and he may get one eventually. I'm just saying that his impact on the 2024-2025 is being overstated.

  15. We are in the NIL era. It’s not that easy anymore. All of these top recruits have signed contacts and have been paid. If they want out, they will have to return the money that’s been paid. That’s going to go keep players with 7 figure deals like Savion Hiter wearing maize and blue.

  18. This feels like something his agent would leak when he isn’t a leading candidate at Michigan, to drum up interest in future cycles. Did they probably ask if he’s interested in interviewing? Yes. Did they probably ask a dozen other names as well? Yes. I’d be very surprised if Rees is anywhere in Plan A, B, C, D, E, or F.

  23. Per Jason Beck: “…they were in a happy place for at least holding on to some key pieces.” The French felt good about the Maginot Line too… I know not everything has to be done right now. I was, though, hoping for more than just socks for Christmas.

  27. I'll make this kinda simple and let it be the end of it. If it weren't for Al Avila, the Tigers wouldn't have made the playoffs the last 2 seasons. And if so, the heat on Harris would be suffocating. His seat would be SO hot, his pants would catch fire. Does that mean I like the job Avila did? No way, I wanted him fired when he extended Brad Ausmus. But it's Al's players and manager who got us into the playoffs, in spite of Harris not bringing in any help.

  28. I was just using that as an extreme example. I think some people see high prospects and they think they are automatic plus players Travis Chapman was going to be an All-Star, remember? The biggest ones I remember were Paul Householder and Clint Hurdle. Both of those guys were can't-miss. I will say this. I trust the current regime's development staff more than any other in my life. The do seem to develop guys pretty well. And the Tigers organization has done a 180. They were famous for always having power arms. You'd look at their Top 10 prospects and seven or eight would be pitchers, but the latest BA Top 10 list has ZERO pitchers. Wow.

  29. If Warde Manuel was in charge of “Athletics,” and he was, he signed off on a 55% raise for a low level admin person. Nobody gets to give someone who wasn’t even promoted a 55% raise, especially at a state institution, without going around HR. I don’t know which is worse between Manuel knowing this was happening and allowing it, or Manuel not knowing it was happening. Either way, it is inexcusable.

  30. Not a single mention of us rounding down to the nearest nickel. Either people haven't noticed or they don't care because it is in their favor. Also had ChatGPT run a few numbers. I gave it our revenue per year, average ticket price, and percentage of our sales that are cash. It estimated we are losing between $188-$248 a year per location by rounding down. So, nothing at all, really.

  31. So many rumors about what the Tigers will get for Skubal. And some very attractive returns. But a sportswriter (and I can't remember which one) once said - whomever got the best player in the trade -- wins the trade. It's very rare when that doesn't happen. Can't think of too many. The Hershel Walker deal.........he was the best player (at the time of the trade) but the Cowboys won it easily. I would say the Pistons trading Grant Hill might be an example, as he was the best player at the time, but in hindsight Ben Wallace was a better player. So the Tigers could get a current starting pitcher and the best 4 prospects on the Dodgers and the Dodgers probably won the trade. Starting to wonder about the Mets now. They lost two stars and Cohen is about to go crazy.

  33. UM athletics is an embarrassment right now. Under Warde Manuel’s watch. He should be terminated already. It is an embarrassment to UM that he has not been. Under no circumstances should he be permitted to hire the next coach. It is not necessary to have an AD in place to hire a new coach. It would be ideal but these are already not ideal circumstances. And it is not like an NFLGM who is responsible for acquiring players.

  34. yup - waste of time to go through that dog and pony show again when you don't even control the House, and TBH, it would likely decrease the chances of more House members falling away from Trump on their own. Trump is doing enough to alienate his own troops like MTG. Don't make it an us vs them thing that motivates them to stick together.
