  1. There is no real comparison and your second statement says it all. I could go on all day about how AOC is the perfect definition of the things I've always disliked about the democratic party. She has big grand ideas and IMO, but no policy that will actually achieve it. Then you have Greene, she has no big grand ideas, she has no policy. She claims everyone should have a right to speak, but then only wants her voice heard. She spends more time playing pre-school with her staff, drawing up signs that she can hang outside her office to ridicule her colleagues. If there was a game where you had to defeat a bunch of Karen's, MTG would be the final boss Karen at the end. She brings no actual value to congress, but the Trump right love her because she can be entertaining.

  2. MotownSports.com seems to be DEAD. I sold the site back in June of 2020 and it appears that the new owners have killed it off by forwarding the domain to a gambling website. The recent issues with the forums not working for nearly a month may have been the final blow. That said, I started these forums at the beginning of the year to support my other websites (i.e. MotownTigers.com, MotownLions.com, etc.) so the crew from MTS have started using them as their new forums. Feel free to do the same and please let anyone you know from the old site that this place is here.

  5. I always said that the Tigers getting 4 ALCS appearances and 2 AL pennants out of 5 playoff spots between 2006-2014 was beating the odds. Especially since in none of those years did the Tigers have the best record in MLB or even AL. The only underachieving part was going 0 for 2 once having made the World Series.

  6. The last 30 years the Braves have been to the playoffs a remarkable 21 times and only have the 1 World Series, in that same time frame the Dodgers have been 16 times and they too only have 1 championship. Between them they have made the playoffs every single season from in that time frame with the exception of 2007 yet they only have 2 championships between them.

  8. I don't think this year's improvement is as anomalous as people are saying. They finished 77-85. It is not uncommon for previously poor teams to make that kind of jump especially with an infusion of young players. What I do I like is the apparent new direction of the franchise in terms of management, coaching and analytics.

  12. WTF does that have to do with Merrick Garland? Get out of here with that bullshit. Chip Roy is a grandstanding fool who cares not about kids or rape but about being a bigot and blowhard. F him.

  13. Pretty succinct explanation here.... whether you agree or disagree with AOC, she at least appears to have an ethos and actual policy ideas. I can't really explain what MTG is after other than providing entertainment value for the base to seal clap for. I guess if you look at politics as a form of pro-wrestling, you'll think she's useful, but if you look at government in terms of policy or ideas, she's probably the most useless member of Congress.

  14. Major pet peeve of mine is why, for some reason, I get ads for Shinola products. One came across one of the websites I was browsing for Shinola sweatshirts. $160. Are you f'ing kidding me? I hate them. I really hate them. I think they are frauds. One time an ad for a $2500 turntable popped up. For $2500 I want a hologram of the artist to appear in my living room. Let's start a company called Shit and we'll have a logo achingly similar to Shinola, but just different enough to not violate copyright laws. We can sell our sweatshirts for $35 and watches for $50 (which will be just as good as theirs) and make fun of them to the point where they sue us and bring us free publicity.

  21. I don't know about Del but I know Yoda was reading the forum when this address was pretty much being explicitly posted. He seemed pretty PO'd about what was happening. But he had also mentioned he was thinking about moving out of SoCal so maybe his plate is full. In Del's case maybe it will take some piston wins....

  23. Wings go down to defeat. 3-0 loss. So a low-key way to mark the 44th anniversary (a day late) of me becoming a Red Wings fan. October 20, 1977. Before then I had been first a Bobby Orr, then a Frank Mahovolich-Guy Lafleur-Ken Dryden Habs fan. I had been a die-hard Tigers fan, on the other hand, for years by then, having attended my first game at Tigers Stadium in 1973. 10 years old. Riding home from first hockey practice of year. Listening to the Wings-Habs game as the 0W 2L Red Wings nursed a late lead over the mighty Cup champ Habs. Somehow, for some reason, I became interested in the Wings hanging on. They didn't, but I was hooked by the 2-2 tie. A few weeks later was the real coming out party, as the by-then 9W 6L Wings beat the Flyers at a packed, raucous, Olympic. Ted Lindsay and Bobby Kromm: "Aggressive hockey is back in town".

  28. I was a bagger a little over 30 years ago, well before bringing your own bags was a thing. We had a semi regular customer who had created her own totes out of wife beaters. She simply sewed the waist of the A shirts closed, and then she used the shoulder straps as the handles. They were pretty strong and the fabric was much more durable than a plastic bag.

  34. I was on Outer Drive in Dearborn, just south of Michigan avenue, right after it turns by the Speedway. It's 3 lanes. There was a school bus stopped in the right lane. Myself and another driver both stopped in the left and center lanes, because, that's what you do. Some ass is behind me leaning on his horn and I can hear him screaming. He decides to drive ON THE GRASS MEDIAN to get around us and nearly hits a a kid. A cop on the other side of Outer Drive saw the whole thing and popped him. Hope he got cuffed for it. It was just before I got my dash cam unfortunately.

  37. I admire your optimism. Wish I could share it. You are correct about their actions this offseason being a good bellwether......I really hope they prove me wrong...really I do. But I suspect they are going to intentionally obfuscate the distinction between "smart" and "Thrift" to their exclusive benefit

  40. Whether this is another wasted losing season in 2022 is largely management's decision. Management cannot necessarily "make" this a playoff team, but they can and should try. If we as fans cannot believe that they will at least try to make the playoffs in 2022, I don't see any point of even caring about the team as a whole in 2022. Beyond 2022, predicting a failure to compete is simply saying that management/ownership lacks and will continue to lack the will and/or ability to win. That is certainly possible. As a simple matter of practicality, "this" team (from 2021) largely won't even exist in 2023, as most of the players in 2021 will be gone by then. Only a handful from 2021 are likely to still be around in 2024. Yes, they will likely have added a productive Tork and Greene by 2024, but it will take a lot of management decisions and luck, that we cannot yet even predict, to build a winning team in 2024, regardless of how the team turns out in 2022. At this point, team outcomes, within a 5 or 10 game luck/injury window, are overwhelmingly a reflection on management intention, actions, and ability.
