Wow I am almost as tired of the journalistic obsession with this quote as I am of Will Smith.3 points

Lynn apparently decided his hit rate was falling off too precipitously. Classic click-bait if there ever was. There is less than nothing of substance here. And FYI Lynn, what counts against big-league pitching is...RESULTS.2 points

When I was playing, we all knew how to play the game. Young pitchers today can all throw 100 MPH, but they don't know how to pitch like I did.2 points

It's clear the Lions are building towards the future and will endure more growing pains in 2022. They aren't handing out multi year deals, they aren't restructuring contracts to borrow from future years to prop the 2022 team up, and they aren't trading any future draft picks. So 1 year deals like this, Hughes, etc. are pretty insignificant and harmless towards their ultimate goal of being a playoff team in 2023.1 point

Meanwhile, this guy.... I'll be honest, this take sort of defies logic, at least based off of how Greene has looked and carried himself on the field.1 point

That's why I never bought into the folks that essentially say non lottery 1st rounders are worthless. Yeah the likelihood of you finding a superstar with one of those picks is pretty damn small but you can get valuable pieces that could be a third or possibly even 2nd option on a championship caliber team.1 point

I golfed 36 holes a few times a week in 1993 and 1994. Same course. We'd get there at 7 am and do two rounds. Closest I got was an eagle. 2nd shot on a par 4 from about 100 yards out. After that I might have golfed once or twice a year until the mid 2000's. I always wanted my wife to take up the game as I thought it was something we could do together as we got older. The one time I took her to a par 3 she hit everything straight and I figured that's 80% of it, she's a natural. As it happens she took up running and dragged me into it so that's our thing.1 point

Man, don’t you ever get tired of being wrong? https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-defends-trips-to-golf-courses-says-it-his-exercise According to this article, not only did Trump have three times as many trips to the golf course as Obama during the same point of their presidencies, the article also reminds us that Trump promised the voters that once he became president, he would be working so hard he would not have any time to golf at all! For someone who professes not to like Trump, you sure work overtime here defending him at every turn.1 point

Originally the middle of both first base and third base were also at the same kind of midpoint that second base still is, but they were both moved in toward second to get them completely out of foul territory. That way if a batted ball hit the bag, the umpire would no longer have to guesstimate whether the ball hit the part of the bag in foul or fair territory. After the move, if the ball hit the bag, it’s fair.1 point
-
I just read (John Thorn) that originally all the bases were positioned similar to how second is positioned now. Then the moved 1st and 3rd base in 1890 or so but left second base as is.1 point

It doesn't take long. I was really hoping they'd have a new broadcast team this year1 point
-
They won't. By then they will have built up a Super Bowl caliber roster and just need a QB so they did what other teams have done and traded the picks for an elite, franchise QB who's a proven winner like Matthew Stafford.1 point
