that's the problem, Americans 'pride themselves' on being a lot of things they are not.3 points

Who cares what Spencer Turnbull thinks? He was born in Bama, was probably a pampered sports hero his entire life and has a Bible verse on his twitter profile. There was no chance he was going to be anything but what he is. I just hope he can come back and be a good pitcher again next year.2 points

I'm having a hard time. My dog is still alive at almost 17, but I already miss him. I miss what he used to be and I know I can never have that back with him. I KNOW what I need to do, but I can't do it. He's been in the house all day. He's afraid to step off the landing and onto the porch. He's afraid to walk down the grass ramp I built him because he's afraid of falling. It's time, but I just can't do it. I'm overwhelmed with grief but also with guilt because I want to have a dog again, a dog that can do dog things and I just have this deep down feeling that I'm getting rid of him for a selfish need. I won't wait to get another dog, I will start looking immediately because my house is not right without a dog - everything is off balance without a dog here, but I can't do it. I'm so torn on this because he had a really good day yesterday (well, as good as you can have at 90 years old).2 points

There are a lot of people I'd blame before the Sanders left for this. 1) The Justices who voted to overturn 2) Trump 3) Trump Voters 4) Federalist Society 5) Senators who confirmed these justices 6) Republicans 7) GW Bush 8 ) G HW Bush Blaming the Sanders left is letting all of these folks off the hook.2 points

Gabiela Procida from Italy seems like he could be somebody to look at with the 36th pick. 6'8 wing who can really shoot from all over the court. Definitely has some concerns but for the 36th pick he could be somebody to take a chance on.2 points

It's looking like a 3-way trade with Detroit getting Duren & Walker (who's a lot less expensive then Hayward); and we send the 2025 Milwaukee 1st pick to Charlotte. Not certain what else between Knicks & Hornets... So Jerami Grant for 2nd's and Kemba Walker at 1 year $9 Mill and Jalen Duren at # 13. Yeah, I'm good with that.2 points

See, the people that want to mock "Build Back Better" (only because it's Biden's phrase) don't seem to understand that if you don't, destruction. illness or even death will eventually happen. Public Works aren't sexy, they're boring as hell, not like a shiny new building or stadium, but they make our lives better and provide a hell of a lot of jobs. I don't think anyone truly has any idea how many bridges we're driving on are just one mistake, or one missed inspection or one "we'll fix it later" away from collapsing. I think if we realized it, it would scare the hell out of us.1 point

The same SCOTUS that said yesterday that states don’t have the ability to regulate guns have today given states the power to regulate women’s bodies.1 point

What a country we live in where the loser gets to be elected President, on two separate occasions, and gets to appoint 5 Supreme Court Justices between the two losers. I think the Super Bowl and Stanley Cup should start going to the losing teams from now on since something as important as the US Presidency does.1 point

Everything I've seen has the Pistons winning the draft and getting an A. What a masterclass in GM work by Weaver over the past few days/weeks. That Grant trade turned out to be: A 2022 lotto pick (#13 - Duren) Move up 10 spots in the 2022 second round 2 future 2nd round picks 20M in cap which they haven't even spent yet (Kemba is getting bought out) Here's Weaver: Givony calls it a "Homerun": Sam Vecenie and his livecast partner "love the fit" with Cade and Ivey. I timestamped this on the DET pick but if you back it up a little you get a little more when they talk about the SAC pick: And just for fun, RIP Hamilton's reaction:1 point

A lot of folks downplay what happened in the First Impeachment, saying it wasn't impeachable, etc.... but it's honestly one of the most clear and instructive events as to how Trump operates. And how it's more like what we associate with a Mob Boss than an American President. The parallels between what he asked Zelensky to do with what he himself attempted to have done with the DOJ are hard to miss.1 point

The ironic thing is that's an alleged benefit of blockchain, it's single source of truth ledger is supposedly supposed to make audits & compliance easier! I'm definitely having fun staying poor on the currencification (my new word) of blockchain, which might explain why I'm asking this question, but if you have a single source ledger of truth as the basis of the entire technology, how the hell do people's apes get stolen?1 point

Please please please. If we got Duren and Ivey we won the draft and fixed our athleticism issue.1 point

He'll be back for one more year... probably will announce in the offseason, setting up for some tributes at visiting ballparks next year.1 point

That's where I'm at too. I'm skeptical of his fit next to Cade but for pure upside, he has way more than the other options at 5 if he corrects that long range shot which did show signs of improvement last season. I think there's only two, maybe three, players in this draft with real starpower potential (if you include Sharpe). Ivey, Banchero and Sharpe. you need multiple stars in this league so they got a guy with that potential. Also, athleticism, man did they need an injection of some in the worst way.1 point

I’m way too happy right now. This was the #2 player on my board. Does he have bust potential? Sure. They all do. But he also has the highest ceiling in the draft. If he hits, we’ve got our two stars for the core. Thank you SAC.1 point

Boom. There you go @Betrayer I don't know about the fit but this kid definitely brings the starpower. The Pistons will be exciting if nothing else. If Weaver can pull off Duren later in the lottery, this is an A level day.1 point

I haven't watched the NBA draft much. Do they go to commercial during the Pistons pick like they do with the Lions?1 point
-
Now whenever I see these players on the phone all I can think of is Brad Holmes on the other end saying "you ready to be a Lion?"1 point

If Banchero goes #1, pretty much every tweet the past few days claiming to have some inside info goes out the door. Proves that what teams are leaking is often horse sh*t.1 point

Don’t do that. Do not change the text of people’s actual post. That’s wrong. You have to know that. I would like you to delete your post quoting Archie’s answer…. With YOUR changes. I can’t believe I even have to say this. Delete it. Now.1 point

As an aside, if anyone in the area ever has to go through something like this in the future, I cannot recommend Pet Passages enough. I’m working with their Lake Orion location. They’ve been phenomenal, from my first tear-filled phone call, to accommodating any special request I had, to making me feel like their only client. I can’t imagine doing that job on a daily basis, but they are truly greater than I ever could have imagined.1 point
