The luster is wearing off Hinch pretty rapidly for me - as much for not dumping Coolbaugh as anything. You can't just keep on keepin' on when you have half a dozen of your bats swirling down the toilet. I don't even care if he doesn't fire him but bring in another voice and set of eyes to work with this offense. It's been total management malfeasance to have just coasted along with this this offensive train wreck close onto 80 games.3 points

Fangraphs as of last month has Waters at #10 and Hoffman at #16, which makes sense since Waters's last three seasons at AAA saw wRC+ of 84 in 2019, 94 last year, and 84 this year across almost 800 plate trips. That is a significant difference in opinion, and I'm thinking that based on the trade, the Royals and Braves agree more with FG than MLB here.2 points

Still don't understand how Scott Coolbaugh can still be employed by the Tigers. This year is making Lendary Lloyd look like Charlie Lau in retrospect.2 points

He did, but I was giving an example of someone who quit after putting all the work in to become a professional athlete which is what Gehringer asked.1 point

last I read recently was they hope to have him back "sometime' in August.1 point

Well tbf, literally the only player worth keeping on this team is a rookie in Greene...otherwise things dont really look that bad...1 point

What an AB by Greene. Clarke threw him great pitches on 3 corners of the zone and he stayed alive to put one in play.1 point

just because a lot of odd things seem to be happening to him subsequent to COVID. There doesn't seem to be any limit to the odd ball things it has done to some folks.1 point

BTW - any chance we get Al to revise that 'Tiger Way' handbook to drop the thing where Tiger relievers have to walk the first man they face?1 point

Honestly Baez's throw there was bad but Tork should have had it but he has saved him on so many throws this year can't blame him too much.1 point

Joe Biden accomplished the one thing I care the most about: he wrested the presidency away from that loud-mouthed criminal fascist.1 point

Indeed! I always find him fascinating to watch move around on the ice. Wings' development camp stream is starting now 7/11 @ 1 pm:1 point

Kody Clemens is hitting .250 with a .333 OBP, 3 HR, a .278 ISO, a .365 wOBA and a 140 wRC+ in his last 42 PA.1 point

Went to the Def Leppard/Motley Crue/Poison/Joan Jett show last night at Comerica Park. It was really great except for Motley Crue, which is who I was looking forward to the most. I had read that Vince mumbles his way through. Whatever... I did the music. But last night we couldn't make out the music. I can't believe that go through their checks. People were leaving. Granted it was a Sunday night and after 10 and a long day for some, show started at 4:30, but still. Poison was better than I expected. Brett Michaels really showed some love and knew where he was. Referenced Blondies, Harpo's.... Overall the show as a great trip down memory lane from elementary school with songs like Photograph, Bringing on the Heartbreak, Foolin', Shout at the Devil... then to middle and high school. Even touched early college years with Dr. Feelgood and Kickstart my heart. People watching was even better.1 point

Michigan state senator Mallory McMarrow is pretty close in terms of coolness. I would say AOC could do this look. I would also say, (begrudgingly) that former prostitute Lauren Boebert could do this too but she'd goober it up with a gun or a cowboy hat.1 point

this is harsh....just because the German pols are corrupt and stupid doesn't mean their voters should suffer. except...how else are they going to learn?1 point

You guys got me, I've been doing it wrong all along. From now on, should my kids get into an argument, I will do a full investigation to figure out who is 51% or greater wrong in that situation and punish the offender. Additionally, I will do nothing but praise the other. You hit your brother but he definitely started it and egged you on, not only is he punished, how about we go get ice cream!1 point

Gregory Soto is the non legend all star for the Tigers. I would suggest Andrew Chafin and Joe Jimenez have had better seasons than Soto. Heck, Michael Fulmer and Alex Lange are arguably better numerically than Soto.1 point

I followed the thread on the old site, too. I’m losing hope that a critical mass of “normal” exists in the USA - or that it ever will in my lifetime. I used to find this thread amusing, still hoping that sensibility would prevail. I hoped enough people would imagine what this country would’ve looked like if January 6 had succeeded. (Who would want THAT mob to be in charge?) It was amusing. I feel more futility now. Do we have what it takes as a nation to call out this crap?1 point

2020 stats don't mean much to me and he has had everything wrong physically in 2022. 2019 and 2021 are the best markers for what he can do and If he can go mid way between those two years, it would be great. I wouldn't call a 120 OPS+ ambitious, but I undertsand that his health is a concern.1 point

I think Livers potential as a high end 3 and D guy is underrated. He's one of those guys who is always in the right spot, making the right play and can shoot the 3 at a high level. He's also athletic enough to defend the more athletic 3's or even 4's reasonably well. He could be our version of Mikail Bridges.1 point

Was in attendance for this one. This one hangs on Grossman, had a great view of that play and could tell that was gonna be a disaster in real time. But there were some questionable decisions management wise as well... kinda thought AJ was playing with fire leaving Hutch out there in the 6th and really didn't love the decision to play the match up with Sheets versus Soto. And naturally, the Sox get the pinch hit single against the shift to make it 3-2. It's not the primary reason they lost, but I thought he overmanaged the 8th. I would have left Fulmer in and would have been OK with whatever resulted.1 point

So, my understanding of what defines a halfback is someone that initially moved from “up north” to Florida and than moved halfway back but stopped in the Carolinas. I guess that’s the accepted definition. My experience is that there are good and bad from any region of the country. There are many Californians moving into N.C. The rural parts of the state are probably less receptive to the newcomers. Our son and his family lived in the Bay Area for several years before returning to this side of the country. In spite of my political differences of all things California, I really enjoyed the area. Beautiful weather and temperatures. One of my grandsons was born in Alameda County. They relocated to Richmond, VA. Probably not terribly far from you. They all came back A’s fans.1 point

Having lived in MI with a similar flat tax (4.25%) and Minnesota with a higher graduated one, I’d rather pay MNs taxes and have their Ed and services than save a couple % in April. You get what you pay for. Americans have been conned about taxes by the rich. The trick is not low taxes, it’s properly spent taxes. The right won’t even try to help do government better because it violates their theory that gov can’t work. But that is just a 1%er /corporate con.1 point

I finally tested negative yesterday, then my wife this morning. Happy to not have to worry about possibly infecting others anymore. Last thing we wanted to do was pass it on to one of the kids (or anyone else) at the very tail end of our “process”.1 point

MY OBITUARY FROM WEDNESDAY -- Diego was a Rescue dog. He rescued me on 9/11/07 and every day since. The last 3 days were absolutely brutal, and today was torture waiting for 5:30 to come. The vet was right on time. I wouldn't trade a thing, I got over 5,400 great days and only a handful of bad ones (he had a 3 day ban from the inside the house due to catching a skunk in 2008). He loved everyone. He hated fireworks (not scared, but angry). He hated the lawn mower (but only when I cut the grass, when (my tenant) Paulie would cut it he didn't care). Most of the people in my neighborhood knew his name, but not mine. He was an amazing ballplayer. He could catch tennis balls better than any dog I ever knew. In his younger days he could almost fly. Watching him jump over the back porch partition to go catch a ball was breathtaking. He loved playing goalie (foam balls, not shot hard). When we went for walks he did that border collie stalking thing where he got very low to the ground and walked very slowly towards his target (the dreaded evil being know as SQUIRREL). I loved watching him do that, that focus and concentration and intensity. He never caught one, thank goodness. The night I took him home - at some point he jumped into the bed with me. When I woke up and let one go (you know what I mean) - a loud one - it startled him so much he fell out of the bed (mattress & box springs on the floor, no harm). That was the first time he made me laugh. When I was at work during the day, he'd jump up in the bay window and lay there and watch the world, it was his version of TV. That's how the neighborhood got to know him. He was good friends with the mailman. His favorite words were SURPRISE LUNCH and WALK. and his least favorite words were SQUIRREL, RABBIT and HAIRCUT. I haven't traveled much in recent years so we rarely spent a night apart and he usually slept on the floor. In the morning when I would ask What Time Is It? it was his cue to lick my face until I got up. I have never had a dog who was so good about not doing his business in the house, even on his last day, when he could hardly walk, he held it for nearly two days and walked down his hill and did his business. He was so good about it that even when he passed he did not release any fluids (most dogs do). He loved fruit too, especially watermelon and cantaloupe. We had our own handshake sequence....."Give me five.......Other side.........Now up high." He loved to learn. He was my best friend, and not in the general sense of Man's Best Friend............He was literally my best friend. In his honor I will give another dog a great life in this house, which is not a home without a dog. Thanks for listening. This makes me feel better. ------TODAY, 6:40 PM ------ 2 days later still dealing with his ghost. Because whenever I get up from the back room where I mostly hang out I keep going to his room (yes, he had his own room) or the living room to check on him. When I grab a piece of flat bread to snack on I tear a couple small pieces off out of habit. When I cut up some fruit to eat I still put a few small pieces aside for him. It takes a minute to realize he's gone. This has hit me harder than my father's death did. I don't know why. Maybe because I had to schedule it and that just tears me up. Today I went back to work at the hospital (office) and I really needed to. A lot of busy work, new inventory to unpack, kits to put together, it was the kind of work that was good for me but I had to stop a couple times to compose myself, just odd little things come up and remind me. My bosses have been incredibly patient and supportive (women make better bosses in general). Today was the first time I came home from work to an empty house in almost 15 years. I know I'll start feeling better and when that next dog (or dogs) comes home I won't take a second for granted. I know, I'm going on and on about this but my girlfriend does not live with me so it's just me here.........at least for now, but not for long. I don't know how someone who loses a child can function after that, if a dog can do this to me.1 point

Got a cheap Yamaha. I've never played one and wasn't sure how I would like it so I went budget friendly. The damn thing sounds amazing. I also like that you have to play it a bit differently than six strings. Adds more interest for me.1 point

Shop all of the relievers, even the young ones. I am not saying trade them all, but do not hesitate to trade any reliever who brings a good return.1 point
