Anxiety is indeed very real. I have a child living with it. Top student A++ top of her class through Freshman year high school. Then in an instant can not attend school. Snap of the fingers. And society though improving is still way behind. Must be drugs. Must be a party kid etc etc. while us parents are just trying to get her out of her room. Scary. Drop out or forced out of school. Only patience in HUGE quantities can overcome this and some are worse than others in time.. 3 years time…she gathered herself. Online high school then community school and proud to say graduating this spring from University of Washington in economics. So Austin Meadows should forget about baseball until he has the time to recover. Maybe send him to Florida his home. Play home games only for Lakeland and work out without any pressure to return to Detroit. Trying to prove he’s worth the money or trade for Detroit while the team losses is futile for his condition. Or retire. He has a new baby and most likely a few million in the bank.

But doesn't more pitchers needed per game equal more opportunities to have one of them fail ? Kind of like Russian roulette ?

I've listened to a fair amount of OHL games the past week, there have been some really good series. I went to school with the Sarnia radio announcer and he recently called his 1,500th OHL game. I was recently in Saskatchewan so followed that series, listened to it last night. Crowds really into it of course. Has a March Madness college basketball vibe to it, but as if early round games were played on campus. CHL playoff games are also available to a watch, for a fee. Am going to look into that now that the Wings are wrapping up and the Sting are into the 2nd round.

RBG was also stuck in a hard place though. She should have retired before Obama left office, but after what happened with Merrick Garland, that didn’t become possible. Mitch just would have left that seat unfilled as well.

Don't underestimate the value of that #31 pick. Great spot to pick up a player that has dropped out of the first round without taking on a guaranteed contract. Valuable pick whether you keep it or trade it.

Took a #3 pick and turned it into a 5th Round pick. Bob Quinn & Matt Patricia just kicked us in the balls one last time - because this is more on Patricia and his horrible coaching more than anything else.

I think this is a fair return for the trade. No issue with moving on.

RGB syndrome strikes again. These old liberal women are being no better than any old man in terms of convinceing themselves they are indispensble. Newsom needs to put some pressure on her office, if he hasn't already.

If we somehow, someway got Will Anderson at #6 I don't think I would care what Brad Holmes did for the rest of the draft. He could go Michael Mayer, Darnell Washington, Sam LaPorta, and any Tight End he wanted at #18 if he got Will Anderson without having to give up draft capital to do it.

Understood.... my point is that I don't think anyone looks at Tyler Nevin as a "savior" for this club or will solve all the ills this team has, or that anyone is going to have additional "hope" because of him being called up. Looking at how most people regard this club nine games in, "hope" doesn't seem to be in anyone's vocabulary. But rather that at some point they need to be trying different options and that, if it keeps going in this direction, that oughtta be sooner rather than later.

I'm still not giving up on Okudah just cause he has had some legit excuses thus far. His 1st year he had terrible coaching on top of the fact that it isn't unusual for corners to struggle at 1st. Then his 2nd year he gets hurt his 1st game and misses the whole year and again not unususual for a player to struggle their first year back from a severe injury. This year there isn't any excuses if he looks like crap then I will officially have lost faith.

In the last 20 yrs I don't think I have used AM radio for anything but a ball game and the Tigers are on FM - so I don't care! And the funny thing is the Tiger AM radio network around the state is so poor now that if I am traveling I have better luck getting a game though cellular via gameday.

He was good against Philly too who had one of the best defenses in the league. He was down to mostly practice squad receivers against New England and Dallas. He was poor in those games but it comes with an asterisk when the team is decimated by injury at the skill positions. I just took issue with saying that Goff was just good for the easy 1/2 of one season. Even if you want to say that he just played well the second half of last season, he was darn near flawless in games that had meaning. I don't take issue with your concern about his next contract, I think all of us (even @Motown Bombers) has some concern about that but the question is, how many QBs are truly better than Goff in this league, QBs that you know for sure are a clear upgrade? I've got Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Hurts and Herbert, Lawrence soon most likely. That's it. So point being that are you willing to burn a 1st rounder on the 4th or 5th best QB in this draft in the oft chance that he supplants a top 10 NFL QB? The thing is, when you draft this guy he's the franchise guy, Goff is most likely done after 1 season unless he takes the Lions to a Super Bowl or close enough so he better be worth it when Goff is moved out or else you're stuck with Jordan Love, a depreciated asset that you're forcing into the #1 role because you kind of have to due to the capital exhausted to bring him in. We also know that Goff fits THIS offense and culture, will the next guy? With that said, going $40m+ on the next Goff contract presents risks of its own and, yes, he's a guy with a limited ceiling so there's risks both ways. I don't envy Holmes's position here, it's a tough franchise altering decision when you don't have a true franchise QB but do have a guy who is good enough to win with. I get both sides of the argument and have waivered myself over the last calendar year but am leaning towards take an impact prospect that can help now in a win now window and MAYBE take a shot at Hooker if he's there in the 2nd. No QB in the 1st, not this year.

I wouldn't give up on Faedo. I think there is something there. I don't think he's a starter, but I do think he could be a plus reliever. He's just gotta stay healthy. He started out solid last year, but he's one of those guys that doesn't get over by the third time through the lineup, but as a reliever we actually might have something there.

That sketch must have been brutal to perform, having to look at both the cards and remembering the motions. Speaking of Jost, on that same episode Che played a trick on him during update where he told the audience not to laugh. I think this season is starting to find it's groove. It takes a newish cast a while. I like that they seem to be going back to ensemble. The last few years you'd forget someone was even in the cast. too many people. I record them every week and we watch on Sunday or Monday.

I hate the idea of a former #3 pick as a backup on this team (assuming he doesn't win the job) and would love to get some picks for him. That said, conversely I love the idea that if our cap space warrants it, having a former #3 pick as a backup in a position that traditionally requires more depth than most other positions.

Too early in the season to worry about that... The starters will all get stretched out to 7-ish innings, pending actual in-game performances, over the next few weeks. In Detroit, at Toledo, and don't forget at Erie too. Wilmer Flores/Ty Madden may be our #6/7th starters before too long...

Y'all are over thinking this. They have no need to draft a quarterback. If one is the highest rated player on their board when their turn comes up, then take him. If some other position is rated higher and helps the team more, then take him. Only trade up if an individual has so much more value than the other available pool of players to make it worthwhile.

Going by the description of the type of player they want the only guy close to that on our team is Bojan and I highly doubt they'd give up the pick for him.

Well I'm sure the 4th or 5th best QB in this draft is more talented than our current QB who was drafted number one overall an scouted by our GM.

I understand the thinking behind #6 being a "free" pick, so we can afford to swing for the fences, I just don't think any of the QBs in this draft are worth doing that for. I'd rather take Carter/Anderson, & then pull the trigger on a guy like Dorian Thompson-Robinson out of UCLA. Also very athletic, good arm, & escapability - especially since it looks like they're gonna sit this year anyways.

It's great to look at the first 40 games when you're 35-5.

BPA in all rounds. Drafting for position makes less sense in MLB than in other drafts.
