  2. Holy Efffffff what a powerful and sobering ad by Kentucky Governor Andy Bashear against his MAGA opponent Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

  4. Unless you know every single transaction or move Greenberg has ever made you aren't in position to comment on the hire.

  5. Man. How did we get anything for Daniel Norris, let alone Reese Olson? Kudos to Avila for that get.

  6. I am of the opinion that stopping Atlanta from running at will and preventing Ridder from using his feet to pick up big 3rd downs will have a much bigger impact on the outcome than the availability of anyone on today’s injury report.

  7. So... As somebody a year older than Greenberg who flirted with the idea of trying to get into baseball, I have some unique thoughts. He's a guy whose dad owned the Rangers, who helped Mario Lemeiux buy the Penguins, etc. Was able to get two degrees from ivies. Was an unpaid intern for teams/MLB until he was 26, then joined the Cubs front office. Meanwhile, somebody who wasn't born into money had to pay his own way through school and racked up student loan debt couldn't possibly go the unpaid route for that long and be financially solvent. The financial necessity side of it is why I never tried to make the jump. No conclusions, just wanted to throw that out there that the infrastructure stacks the front office deck against a lot of people.

  8. Rural America is filled with people living in trailers and run down shacks collecting welfare, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI and anything else they can get their hands on. Almost every one of them votes Republican.

  9. It felt great to make this thread I can't lie, hockey is almost back! Anisimov is an interesting invite. Hutchinson is another surprising invite with what they did in the offseason imo.

  11. I usually do not bet futures. But Chet would be my pick probably. His team will win. That shouldn't matter, but voters show a bias towards winners, see Scottie Barnes. Chet will also be in a great spot by being the 4th or 5th best player. He gives up touches but will get a ton of quality looks Victor wont based on teammates. Both guys could also be on IR by Thanksgiving.

  14. Yes, I setup appts at dealers all over the country. Warranty work must be completed by a ASE certified tech. Meaning the lube kid can't touch a airbag recall. The biggest shortage is diesel techs. Most of our fleet include diesel 2500 series and up. I called to try to get one of our units in for a warranty issue in Nashville, TN today. Out of the 5 dealers in the metro area the soonest appt I could secure is 11/15/23. It is insane, tell your kids go to diesel school. It's like being a nurse, you can find a job anywhere in the country. They also clear 6 digit just out of school.

  17. In fairness he has like 10+ years of baseball experience and one year of hockey experience. But I think it’s fair to think he will be the analytics guru and Harris will be the communicator and negotiator.

  19. That was always the thing with him—he had all the tools except command, and if he could lick his problem with walks, he could potentially be one of the elite closers. It’s just that his best pitch is so hard to control, it looks like he may never get to that exact point. I do believe he still has a good chance to have a decent career because left-headers who can wipe out hitters are very valuable, and he does have a very low sOPS+ against even RHHs. Whether we keep him, or we dump him because he can’t reach the pinnacle, he’ll be fine. I wouldn’t be too surprised if he sticks around all next year, barring abject collapse.

  22. This is not really meant to be snide, but meant to be more pondery food for thought. How can y'all be in a position to judge the job Scott Harris has done when you don't even know who Brenan Hanifee is?
    1 point
  23. Like KL2 I had no idea who Hanifee was, totally wasn't on my radar. Of course when I scour the Tigers minor league system I tend to focus on the guys who are considered legit or on the cusp of being legit prospects and not castoffs like a Hanifee so I can see why I never paid any attention to him.

  24. The save stat is so unique in that it's probably the only stat that dictates, or dictated, personnel moves. You have a designated pitcher who only comes in when nobody's on base and all you need is 3 outs and is expected to only pitch 1 inning. In that scenario a decent pitcher who have success and rack up a good number of saves. So then front offices think you need to build around that. You don't build bullpens. Bullpens happen because of failure and they are fleeting.
