  1. The immigration issue has been going on for over 500 years. If the Powhatan Indians had been stricter on immigration maybe the country would be in much better shape today. Imagine letting the trash of England ruin the country. You could say the same about the Spanish scum in what is now Florida and Mexico. Not to mention that trash from France and Portugal.

  2. Maybe all the teams with open positions will have the same mindset as TP in which case Johnson won't even get an interview.

  3. Btw even though the game is on Prime nationally I just found out that in the Detroit and GB markets you can watch it on Fox so if you live in the area and you're one of the 7 people besides me on Earth that doesnt have prime you don't have to worry about signing up for it to watch the game.

  4. Cory Booker calls for Menendez to resign. I am a very big Booker fan (as some of you know), and I actually sent him a message yesterday kind of imploring him to call for Menendez’s resignation. I MUST BE AN INFLUENCER! 😂😂 Anyway, am glad Cory B did this today.

  10. This is all Reagan's fault. I say that a bit tongue in cheek but it's also true. There was a kind of virtuous cycle at work in the post WWII era where inflation slowly but constantly pushed people into higher tax brackets, and Congress could righteously - and popularly - vote to lower taxes on a regular basis. The conservatives decided this was bad mechanics and indexed the income tax. But in retrospect that has turned out to be a terrible outcome. Now Congress still feels the political imperative to periodically stroke the voters by cutting taxes, but they have lost the built in restoring force which used to make those cuts constructive rather than destructive. If you look at the old system, there was a certain elegant logic to it. Congress could periodically consider total spending levels, but they could always make the adjustment by controlling how much they cut taxes. They never had to raise them. The situation we are in now leads to bad economic policy because rate increases are politically too difficult, but of course in any sane world they are periodically required to correct excess mistakes made on the cutting side or just ordinary changes in the economy. Tax politics in the US have basically be in chaos from the time the income tax was indexed.

  11. Another drag queen in Jacksonville caught with minors. Did I say drag queen? I meant youth group leader at a local church. My mistake.

  14. Even if you want to give all the credit to Johnson the fact is in that case he has shown the blueprint to maximize Goff, Campbell and future OCs aren't dummies they will be able to make use of that info and copy it.

  15. More from the so called party of family values Any contributions from the Billionaire Class. How about taxing bribes to congress critters and Supreme Court justices. I suggest the rate starts at 50%

  17. no, you're right. it was because goff was injured. i went back and checked. that said, he played poorly for the rams that season and poorly for the lions the next season. the goff debate has been beaten to death here, so my only point is that i dont think its unreasonable to think johnson played a part in his resurgence given goff's poor play for multiple seasons. the important thing is that goff is playing very well. much better than i thought he was capable of playing.

  18. Goff was a 2 time Pro Bowler and SB participant without Ben Johnson. This idea that he's a product of Ben Johnson is laughable. First he was a product of Cal's air-raid system then he was a product of McVay and now he's a product of Johnson? Maybe just maybe Goff is quite simply....a good QB. How exactly do they go about upgrading on Goff if they don't want to pay him? Outside of Stafford, they haven't had a QB as good as Goff in like 6 decades. Not so easy to find them.

  19. I am firmly of the opinion that some people who are excellent coordinators are just not cut out to be HCs. That's not a knock on them... there's only 64 NFL coordinator positions in the world (not counting ST coordinators I guess) so that's a very, very high achievement to reach. Being a HC requires different skills than being a coordinator so we shouldn't just assume great coordinator = good (or great) HC.

  21. I watched the interview. She’s extremely poised for her age, and I freaking love this answer that she gave regarding Gaetz’s smarmy, obnoxious, misogynist response. He is a dog.

  25. He did it on purpose. He wants to push the issue so he can once again play victim. He wants to both raise money and show that norms and consistency no longer matter in our country. He will prove that he’s above the law.

  27. Football is over managed today. There was a time an experienced QB would have brought his team to the line, audibled a quick pass and gotten the 1st of his *4* chances done inside 7 seconds and if it went incomplete the miss stops the clock with 3 downs left. In the end I don't really think it's a better game for every decision having to be mulled over between the sideline and the press box. I think it's actually sort of comic they pay QBs 40M/yr to be in total command of an offense and treat then them like football children. Nothing would be more time efficient when time is of the essence than just letting the QB call the play in that situation.

  28. I remember Holmes saying something in the off-season to the nature of “it’s a lot easier to get worse at the quarterback position than get better”. The Browns and Broncos show what can happen when you get attracted by the devil you don’t know. And the devils they knew at the time were definitely worse than Goff is now.

  29. So you don't want to give Jared Goff $56M per year. We agree! Goff will demand -- and receive -- $40M-$45M from some team, and it's likely to be the Lions.

  30. Yes... If we are trying to build a Playoff-worthy plus team... And the opportunity for a game-changer is available (Yamamoto, not Lorenzen or Boyd)... Take it. I want playoffs/ championships; not .500 teams...

  31. Without much certainty about their futures, limitations or value, it seems to me that they have a good number of options for 2B. Keith, Wenceel, Jung, plus Kreidler/Short and others (not digging into Ibanez/Maton/Nevin levels). While it would be nice to have one of them also be able to play 3B well, and hit, it is an area I hope they explore for trades. Another young catcher for Jung (D Rushing?). One of Malloy/Carpenter should be the primary DH IMO, with the other either given limited play in the field, or shopped. This offseason has much more pitching FA talent, so if $$$ is to be spent, I would like a major spend there-Lorenzen as a floor for quality. Assuming ERod opts out, but maybe even if he doesn’t.

  34. My healthy, athletic daughter got covid during the initial waves (March 2020). Long covid has majorly degraded her health. Her experience with doctors (which hopefully is/has changed) was to dismiss the symptoms she had being covid related. I hope at some point there will be more studies, and effective treatments and she can regain much of what she lost.
