  1. So, I'm at a junior high school event for my kid last night. A kid walks by with this shirt: I only caught the BO at first. But then I saw it wasn't Bo Jackson. So, he walked by me and I told him he had the wrong Bo on the shirt, and he just kind of gave me a quizzical look and continued on his way. A few minutes later he walked by again and asked me what I meant. And I told him Bo Jackson is the best Bo. And again, he gave me a confused look and said Bo Bichette was the best Bo, who is Bo Jackson? Who is Bo Jackson??!! I wanted to grab him by the scruff and march him off to the nearest screen to watch some YouTube. These kids today, they don't know diddley.

  2. Absolutely. It’s why as a non Catholic I was still involved with the parish my wife grew up in. Service. I coached CYO basketball. ( I didn’t know ****.). I did scouts. I worked pancake breakfasts. I volunteered anywhere I could. We ran the festivals. I could see the impact on the local community which is lower middle classs despite the hierarchy of the church itself and its backwards way there was still opportunity to be fulfilled. You can control what you give and get out of it. I never converted because the threshold is high I think to convert. My wife as a lifelong Catholic can get past things but I can’t knowingly join when there’s obvious things I disagree with. But I can still help those who need it. And I did.

  7. It's not an athleticism issue with Cade. Look at a lot of top players. Luka, Tatum, SGA, Booker, Banchero to use a Cade peer example and perhaps the most underrated player in the league in Brunson. The problem with Cade outside of the fact that he's not a true point guard and is getting deployed as one is the lack of spacing so he gets crowded a lot. Just watch last night when the Knicks were blitzing him in the 4th and he had to work his way around it. There's not one player in the starting lineup that is part of a defensive gameplan for the opponent so the onus is completely on Cade to create offense. There is some self improvement needed in his game but I don't think it's the lack of athleticism holding him back because he's crafty enough to get to his spots. It's the deployment and the supporting cast. There's only a select few players that can carry the entire weight of a franchise. Cade is just not on that level, he's not a Luka, he's not a Lebron that can carry a weak supporting cast. Look at the supporting cast of the guys above... Tatum has Brown, Holiday, White, Smart previously. SGA has/had Dort, Giddey, Williams, Chet now. Booker had CP3, Bridges etc. Banchero has Wagner (another supremely underrated player), Anthony, Suggs is coming into his own. Brunson has Randle, Barrett, Quickley Cade has Killian Hayes, the Isiah Plugs, rookie Ausar who can't hit the broad side of a barn with his shot and Duren who brings no creation to the table. Enough said really. It's hard to properly evaluate Cade until he has at least a few NBA level starters around him. Even 1 would be nice, he has zero currently.

  10. This was a point of mine when they hired him. Williams and Ayton had issues, Ayton signs a max extension, Williams and the staff don't speak to Ayton all summer. Now we get this.

  16. People who blame Cade for any of this need to watch the 4th quarter on repeat. At least 4-5 passes to wide open 3 point shooters namely those two plugs Livers and Stewart and it was brick after brick. Get Cade some freaking help already. It's ridiculous how poor his supporting cast is. That leads me to my next point. He seems like a nice guy but what he in the hedoublehockeysticks do people see in Livers? I see some fans saying "Lets wait until Livers gets back in the lineup", coaches also seem to love this guy. He hustles but I don't see anything he does at an above average NBA level. He used to be able to shoot 3's but he can't even do that with any consistency anymore. Players like him, Stewart, Hayes despite his good offensive game last night (he was a horror show defensively) have no place in an NBA starting lineup. Even Duren is barely passable as a starter. What a mess.

  17. 2-17. 30-52 seemed to have been a popular prediction. They'll need to go 28-35 to accomplish that. Is it reasonable to expect them to win 40% of their games from here on out?

  20. I’m saying as an OC. Not head coach. The cowboys have improved immensely since he fired Moore and called the plays himself. He isn’t a legit head coach. But he is a hell of a play caller.

  21. Cade should be on the ball in ideal situations. Problem is, nobody else on this team can score. So Cade has zero to work with when he is on the ball. If they had someone with any offensive talent it would help him a lot.

  23. I figure the Pacers are valued about the same as Detroit. Someone just bought 20% of the Pacers at a $3.47B valuation. Gores paid $350m for Detroit. He will make out like a bandit if Detroit is valued that high.

  28. 4 stages of competence: 1. Unconscious incompetence: unaware of how incompetent you are (never driven a car, no idea what it’s like) 2. Conscious incompetence: aware of how incompetent you are (driving for the first time, no idea what you're doing, clumsy motor skills, nervously thinking about everything) 3. Conscious competence: aware of how competent you are (getting easier, relaxing more, not thinking as much, learning from mistakes, can explain what you're doing) 4. Unconscious competence: unaware of how competent you are (don’t have to think, actions are instinctive, braking/lane changing/turn signals happen automatically as you carry on conversation with passenger) 5th stage that doesn’t get talked about as much: Conscious unconscious competence. You’re aware of how unaware you are of your competence. This is the level that’s typically required to teach. Anyone who’s sat through engineering chalk talks with a presenter talking over everyone’s heads, using terminology no one understands, and so on… this is someone who can’t get out of their own head and speak for the people who are listening. It’s often unintentional - the content, vocabulary, etc., is second nature to them. They routinely assume others know what they’re talking about, they’ve forgotten what it was like when they themselves first learned. People who have a strong awareness of their own unconscious competence can do things like pass highly technical language through a filter so it comes out in layman’s terms everyone can understand, which is an art form and not as easy as it sounds. I’ll waive my standard consulting fee for you just this once Red

  31. Hopefully the GOP funding problem is systemic and not cyclical. I’m all for the Republican Party going bankrupt, and I think most of us here are, too, at least the Party in its current form. My main concern is that with their backs against the wall and it becoming increasingly clear they can’t fund and win democratic elections, they’ll start acting out in a bid to take power by force. Or do we think they’ll just peacefully accept their fate and retreat into their homes to binge watch Duck Dynasty and NCIS reruns?
