Since they get an extra guy tomorrow do they bring up Manning to pitch the one game(scheduled for Toledo tomorrow) and push Skubal to Friday?3 points

Can you imagine prehistoric times when this happens? I'm thinking a group of cavemen types, with little "education", not places like Egypt or Aztecs. Just sitting around getting food ready, fishing, whatever... then the sun gets covered up and things go dark. Would they think the world was ending. Did they find the nearest woman and start having sex?3 points

Thanks for all the great replies to my post. I feel much better ! Also on the bright side we might only need a couple strong hitters to really cement our team. As a huge proponent of defense I should embrace the pick more like I did on draft day. I guess I’m over anxious for a winner.3 points

I hate weather. The forecast for Friday's home opener went to **** too... last week it was partly sunny and mid 50's. Now it's mid 40's with possible spotty showers... and breezy. **** April.3 points

And then the refs are going to throw a flag and we will proceed to learn about some obscure rule that we have never heard of before and it will be overturned. Then, everyone here and collectively across Lions fandom will lose their minds. Then, in the offseason, only after the obscure rule that no one has ever heard of has cost the Lions a game, will that be reviewed and changed.2 points

In the 2025 NFC Championship Game Brock Wright is going to leak out behind San Francisco’s DL, across the field, into the flat, for an uncontested, game winning 60 yard TD, and it will all be worth it.2 points

Reminds me of the Tintin comic book from when I was a kid. He gets captured by the Inca's and is about to get burned at the stake. Luckily an eclipse happens, they all panic and he's miraculously saved.2 points

If the Tigers had Paredes then perhaps they aren't in a position to draft Lankford in 2023.... meaning a lower draft psoition.2 points

One of the aspects that I like about the deal is that the Tigers acquired a legitimate CF and a possible SS, both with some above average potential skill sets. I like building up the middle that way. In particular, I like the prospect of someone like Clark in CF with the bat that comes along with it.2 points

Also, this game was a masterclass in bad coaching. Watching JJJ look like Lebron against the Pistons in 07 with no strategy to get the ball out of his hands. Watching both Cade and Ivey sit on the bench at the same time when they were the only ones cooking. How about that play with 33 seconds to go that clearly went off the Memphis player after Jaden tapped it? Nope, no challenge. Pretty sure we could've used an extra possession right there in a 2 pt game. I guess Monty was saving his timeout? Of course, he didn't use that timeout after we secured the rebound with about 8 seconds to go in order to call a play for this young team either. I keep hearing idiots say, "You gotta give Monty a year with a real team." No. No you don't. Any coach will do better with better players. They'll still play below their potential under Monty because he's a terrible coach. Even worse than Casey, and that's saying something.2 points

I thought it would be hard for any Western nation to conduct a war more stupidly than the US did in Iraq under Bush. Bibi says "Hold my beer"2 points

On this I can agree with. At the very least, Biden should have gone to the podium and said "All weapons sales to the State of Israel are halted until there is a humanitarian resolution to the current Israel-induced famine in Gaza. We will play our part. But all weapons sales are halted until Israel also does its part, which it is unacceptably failing, miserably."1 point

it was miserable over in queens today. Driving rain wind and cold. Way worse than yesterday1 point

All the above said, I still think it's odd optics at the least for the admin to be publicly castigating Netanyahu while simultaneously proposing additional arms sales to his government. And it's not like Israel needs F15s in Gaza, or would even get them in time for this conflict. The only way the timing of this make sense is if the Admim is setting up to get the GOP right wing committed to this and then turn around and tie it to Ukraine support. Other than that is does seem like a tone deaf FP move for Biden, and his FP chops are generally better than that.1 point

The other side of the coin to that is Wyatt Langford. And he's going to be DH'ing a lot, or stuck in LF. It's great that he has such a nice bat.... But as long as Clark has a high OPS, and is a 2-way player (great defense, great bat) than I prefer 2-way players like Clark over the plethora of DH's that we seem to always be overabundant in.1 point
-
The other thing is we don't know what Langford's number was for the Tigers. He very well could have had one that requested he be the highest paid in the draft for the Tigers or significantly over slot which Tigers didn't want to do as I am guessing Harris wanted to start filling the minors with his type of players. So much goes into this that we don't have visibility to. That being said I hope fans give Clark a better treatment than they gave Jobe.1 point

One of my favourite ever broadcast moments was at the 2:29:05 mark here Ernie: "It's 11 o'clock in Detroit, and do you know where the Tigers are? They're 3 outs away from an American League pennant'1 point

It's 31. Grizzlies have it this season. Pistons are at 30. With this signing, I guess they're now tied.1 point

This is the GM for Arizona. At the end he makes the deal with the Lions. You can hear that Holmes asked for a 1st in 2024. They seemed pretty happy with the deal.1 point
