Elite on defense and low BABIP are directly related. Just goes to prove the axiom that a lot of pitching is actually fielding.8 points

Fans do this thing where they ignore the fact that the other team wants to win too. Teams will win games they should lose and lose games and hey should win fans ignore the former and just assume it was their awesome grittiness that won the game and win that establishes the baseline. The Tigers are on pace for 97 wins. Did you and do you expect to win that many? Just enjoy the ride man.4 points

Here are Lorenzen's 3 starts on the year, all in AAA. Could be a good opportunity to jump into the bullpen early and soften it up for the later games of the series. Also, looks rainy for Wednesday. Doubleheader on Thursday? Guess who lines up well for a start as the 27th player? Can't make it up, it'd be Manning.3 points

LOL. In the non-evangelical Christian world, there is a theology emerging that says the Chuch's reason to exist must be 'missional', not attractional.' That for a couple of hundred years in the US, Church's have existed primarily to bring resources into themselves to build up their institutions, when what they should be doing is being conduits for their members lives and resources to be directed back into the world to make it a better place. The Mega church is the epitome - the end game in fact, of attractional church structure. The end game because it becomes fundamentally an entertainment venue focused on it's own preservation. And worse, the attractive church must strive for popularity by conforming to the prejudices of it's members. But entertainment is not the place to find meaning in life, and a church that doesn't change lives for the better is no church. Which is why the model contains the seeds of it own eventual failure to remain relevant to anything.2 points

2 straight walks..Vierling swings at the next pitch and GIDP. I give Canha some deference because he has a track record...Vierling needs the pitcher to help him.1 point

A strong sign that ticket prices need to be lowered is that the game tonight is not sold out as of this post.1 point

The problem with Lange is when he misses it’s by such a wide margin there isn’t any temptation to swing.1 point

If you compare Chet to Kareem, he's not that far away. Chet is supposedly up to 208 now, Kareem came into the league at ~225, an inch taller and a little older than Chet. Victor is another story.1 point

They also have a lottery pick this year. I believe it was from Houston and will be #12. They also have 8 first round picks between 2024 and 2028 that are not their own. EDIT: I meant 2025-2028.1 point

Boban has been in the league 9 seasons, his total time on the court is still less than starter's minutes for a single season. And he's pocketed $40M.1 point

Sounds like Flores has been moved to reliever full-time and McGonigle is still on the shelf. ▶ Strong work by Wilmer Flores, now pitching in Toledo’s bullpen as the Tigers have opted to make a former starter a high-octane reliever. Flores’ fastball was running 96-99 in Friday’s scoreless inning against Indy. ▶ Hamstrings can make for stubborn recoveries. Still no firm return date for last year’s second overall Tigers draft pick, shortstop Kevin McGonigle, who continues to take batting practice as he moves somewhat closer to joining Graham’s lineup.1 point

I don't really care for that, he needs a responsible adult to tell him to stop doing that. That needs to come right from Harris, right from the top, right now. This organization does not employ punks. Stop. Now.1 point

Hasn’t one of the legitimate complaints about this team been the fact that they do not capitalize on enough opportunities? They did in the 8th today. They need to do it more often, but maybe that’s a by a bit of failing before having baseball consistent success?1 point

I didn’t watch this game, but my understanding is that the Baez homer came on a ball that was actually in the strike zone. I like this “one weird trick” of swinging at balls in the strike zone. Even if it’s something casinos want to stop you from doing, but can’t.1 point

I’ve had the same WTF experience, wondering how the guy got on second base so damn fast. It’s almost like it’s T-ball. Maybe in extra innings they should just have a home run derby off a Tee.1 point

Baseball karma for Maeda blowing an easy DP yesterday. And also for McKinstry blowing an easy grounder that went right under his glove. The baseball gods give, and they take away. I'll take the weekend split.1 point

Maybe, maybe not... sometimes you BABIP, or you get BABIPed. Thats the sport. Either way, Javy and Tork showed a little bit in their finals ABs imo. Javy for showing a little power, Tork for actually displaying some situational awareness for a change.. Nothing wrong with being happy about that1 point

In the macro, take the odd numbered of games series, split the even numbered of games series. That’ll get a team into the playoffs.1 point

split with the predicted division winner. Disappointing given they should have won one yesterday, but not a complete disaster.1 point

Flaherty pitched ok...in the same vein as Maeda and Manning. Gave the pitiful offense a chance.1 point

Why does Uncle Terry in that terrible Tigers fan sitting in his garage babbling about his Tigers hat have a Chicago accent? If he had another 20 seconds, he’d probably start processing his love for Ditka.1 point

Does that also apply to trying to win one of the worst divisions in MLB history?1 point

I want to thank @Tigeraholic1 for the game threads this season. They were mostly losers, but it’s the thought that counts, right? 😆1 point

I would already have the press release worked up announcing Weaver is out. I would hit the send button 5 seconds after this game ends.1 point

Why keep Weaver if you are hiring someone else and giving him Weavers power? A president can make sense. Tom Wilson was the president for years. But he ran the business side, and while technically Dumars reported to Wilson, Dumars ran the basketball side. But JEIII made it sound like the new person would be running the basketball side. At that point I don't see why Weaver would be retained. Redundant layers of management is the calling card of a poorly run organization, so par for the course I guess.1 point
