He was the consensus number one. Pretty much every other team would have taken him. There are no guarantees in the draft. It's also too early to write him off.4 points

Skies are a little cloudy for Langford. 2 XBH (0 HR) in 55 AB not likely what a championship team wants in a production position like LF. I'd call it 50/50 which of he or Meadows get sent down 1st. Langford has the "we are not going to admit we were wrong" aspect going for him, Parker has the great D going for him. Still will be neck and neck I think. 🐎🏇2 points

Thursdays lineup? Have we called today's game? It is raining on my driveway in Ann Arbor already.2 points

Noting that the massive attempt by Iran to attack Israel on Saturday (shomer shabbos!) involved a large segment of missiles that aimed into the Negev desert. Apparently they were trying to take out Israel's F-35s. Welp, Iran is putting out pictures of a bunch of MIG-29s destroyed at a Ukrainian airbase in 2022 saying that these were Israel's F-35s -- not understanding that there are no bigger and more tiresome nerds in the world than airplane recognition nerds.2 points

the easiest way to cover a lot of faults is for the goal tending to take a big step up when Cossa joins the team and he and a regularly rested Lyon make a stronger pair than they have had in a long time. That's a wish cast, Cossa's NHL game may not match his AHL game, and Lyon might not recapture his January form even with less work; but it is one of few possible chances the Wings have to be significantly better next season.1 point

7 hits, 6 bb and 2 bombs is good output day for this team. They just didn't catch the ball well enough today - though of the errors the one on Keith looked more like a bad hop.1 point

It's not bad. The The offense is frustrating, but they finally have a tolerable broadcaster and their pitching keeps them in every game.1 point

The Al Avila administration wasted a first round draft pick on Spencer Torkelson. The Scott Harris administration knows this. The only reason Torkelson is on this roster is because he was the first player selected. Parker Meadows should also be sent down to AAA.1 point

Probably about 30 minutes before the rain arrives. Maybe less if something pops up ahead of the line.1 point

Wow big thunder here in Ann Arbor. Car-alarm triggering thunder. I am gonna go stand outside holding a metal-tipped pole and watch this.1 point

If the Wings had grabbed the 2nd wildcard, it would have set up the first Wings-Rangers playoff series in 74 years, since Pete Babando won Game 7 of the 1950 Stanley Cup in double overtime. Jack Edwards, who yesterday announced he will retire after this season, has a chance to call one more Leafs-Bruins playoff series, as the Panthers leapfrogged the Bruins for the division title last night and will play Tampa.1 point

I looked into this maybe last year or perhaps two years ago, but I'm pretty sure the Tigers have more weekday home day games than just about any other club, including the Cubs. For sure, every getaway game is a day game. Perhaps if we ever get really good and get any kind of national or ex-pat following, we may see a higher percentage of home night games during the week, for the purpose of TV ratings. The players themselves would prefer night games every game, even Sundays. They like the regularity of it, especially the no-day-game-after-a-night-game part, and also, it's a lot cooler playing at night and out of the hot sun, which matters everywhere except domes and the west coast.1 point

Brugler at the Athletic did an entire 7 round draft; Lions trade down with Raiders picking up a 2 and a 3 for a 1. 2 (44). Zach Frazier, G/C, West Virginia 2 (61). Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State 3 (73). Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington 3 (77). Caelen Carson, CB, Wake Forest 5 (164). Braiden McGregor, Edge, Michigan 6 (201). Will Reichard, K, Alabama 6 (205). Sione Vaki, S, Utah 7 (249). Johnny Dixon, CB, Penn State1 point

Another way to look at it: who else on this team would you trust at the plate with runners on base more than Mark Canha at this point? Argument could be made for Gio Urshela just because he's had a knack for getting the big hit and having decent bat to ball skills, but other than that, I'm not sure there is one. That includes Riley Greene as well1 point
-
Exactly. Mark Canha is performing about one would expect from him based on his career thus far (small sample size), the issue is that there are a lot of other guys on this club that aren't meeting expectations at the moment. Canha has also been a pretty big factor in some of their wins as well... they don't win on Opening Day at Comerica without Mark Canha's homer for instance.1 point

Thanks for sharing the season here guys. As always, I appreciate the knowledge and videos posted. Let’s hope for the aforementioned lottery luck, a good off season and go get ‘em starting in the Fall.1 point

The solution is simple: Lead him off instead. I'm guessing Hinch is NOT doing that because he's slow on the base paths? Sometimes that's just gotta be ignored and putting a hitter where he best performs (Canha leading off, Greene batting 2nd) has to take precedence. Just my 2 cents...1 point

I thought the Wings would be given at least one powerplay this period after killing 4 minutes of penalties at the end of the 2nd.1 point

Maybe I'm just especially attuned it the last few games because the stakes have been so high, but it seems like there has been an unusually high amount of turnovers by Red Wings defensemen this week in their zone. Not just Petry. Also Seider, Edvinsson.1 point

The Tigers' bats really weren't supposed to be good. Projection systems that project that tend to be mocked and dismissed by rose colored glasses wearing fanbases. That doesn't necessarily mean blame should fall at the front office. This is a "see what you've got" type year, and there's plenty of reinforcements in Toledo to sift through and figure this out. The weather in early April is always underappreciated as a factor, both on the Tigers' hitting but also on their pitching. Last night's goose egg was largely sequencing and batted ball luck.1 point
