Trying to develop half your roster in the majors is joyless at times. The hitting thing seems to be institutional at this point. The defensive lapses are unacceptable.2 points

That was against the 111th ranked defense in the country. There were high school defenses that were better coached and more fundamentally sound.2 points

Detroit has really done this thing well. This is by far and away the nicest event I’ve ever attended in the city.2 points

I read somewhere that Roger Goodell rarely shakes hands. The only times that he does is with people that he doesn’t like and he touches his junk beforehand.2 points

Roger Goodell just shook my hand. I yelled out “I love you Roger!” And he said “weren’t you the one booing me earlier?”2 points

Gonna be a big ask for this team to finish April above .500 if they continue to not be able to hit the first seven innings every game...late game hero ball isnt sustainable.1 point

Well, if the worst thing we can say about a draft is that we didn’t pick a kicker, we truly have come a long way.1 point

Yeah, but everybody looks great playing against the USC defense. 😎 (Admitting to getting the dig in on Hongbit and his hatred for Oregon 😉). But it’s also true.1 point

6-8, 350 lbs Canadian OT SUMMARY: Werner “Giovanni” Manu was born in Tonga before moving to Canada at age 11. He was a natural at basketball, then started playing football when he attended Pitt Meadows Secondary in 2013. Between his freshman and sophomore years in high school, he grew five inches and put on almost 80 pounds. He continued to play basketball (averaged more than 30 points per game as a senior) but was recruited for football. He enrolled at the University of British Columbia and earned the starting left tackle job as a freshman. He was a four-year starter for the Thunderbirds, also seeing time at guard. His unpolished tendencies are easy to spot on tape — he plays too narrow and off balance in the run game with late hands in pass pro. But he moves really well for his size, espec ially out in space, and punishes anyone in his way. Overall, Manu isn’t NFL ready, but he is a highly intriguing developmental tackle with rare athletic tools that might get him drafted. Manu is a raw offensive tackle prospect with rare size, long arms and good quickness for his size. He didn't play against a high level of competition at the college level, but he is a powerful run blocker who overwhelms defenders on tape. He flashes a strong punch, and his wide frame makes it tough to get around him when he is in pass protection. -- Steve Muench1 point

When they go 7-10 and clean house, they’ll be well on the way to ruining another quarterback.1 point

I will say that I'm slightly concerned about our offensive line depth given our age and injury history. I was really hoping to add a top tier guard or center in the early rounds of this draft.1 point

I disagree that it wasn't a position of need. It was a position of need when they had Sutton and Davis. They lose Sutton and it became a bigger position of need. The Lions also have no depth at safety after Joseph and Melifonwu. Now they can move Branch to safety.1 point

This is the pick of a guy who DNGAF. He is very secure in his status with the front office, he is very secure in his relationship with the coaching staff, and he is very secure in the roster he has constructed. All of these allow him to take a player at a position they don’t “need” but who fits their player profile perfectly.1 point

I think you're all looking at it wrong. Brad (mostly) don't care about position. The draft is about loading up on promising talent not matter where they play. FA is for filling holes. Draft picks, to him, are about trying to hit homeruns every time he gets to the plate. He's not going to lay down a bunt to move the runners over. Brad is not going to settle for lesser player who might slot in somewhere better if he genuinely thinks the other guy is a better player.1 point

Our division has doubled down on QB and WR, so feel much better to stack our pass defense. Similar to Branch last year, taking advantage of a player who has inexplicably dropped. Great value.1 point

Well... They are NOT messing around with the secondary... !!! Time for it to IMPROVE. Like... NOW!!!1 point

Don’t care about who they take but I’d absolutely love if Brad traded up right in front of GB again.1 point

If you want to DH Tork for a short spell but not play Cahna at 1B every day, Ibanez has played 1B 22 games in the last three years and is on the 40 man. He’s rehabing at Toledo now. Can play third too to get Vierling back into the OF if you want to sit Meadows a few days. Not a solution, but a possible temp plan.1 point

And of course, truth is, he doesn’t need the NYT. 99% of NYT readers already support him and are more irritated at the Times in this affair than Biden. Biden has a pretty good sense of where he needs to put in effort he has the energy for and what’s just distraction.1 point

Here’s a fun thought. What happens of Drunk Uncle Tommy misses on the president of basketball operations hiring. If he’s afraid of firing Weaver and Williams on his own, how does he handle firing the president if it becomes obvious that it was a mistake hire?0 points
