Montero, Sammons, Hurter are currently doing just that. The Tigers aren’t below.500 because of pitching injuries. The games they’ve lost have been much more from offense struggles than pitching. And the fact that they are playing as well as they are now is a testament to somehow getting reasonable pitching from guys who weren’t expected to be called upon.4 points

According to my weather app, there’s rain in the forecast for all three games so I’m going to expect a lot of driveway updates from you people in the Detroit metro area.3 points

Literally - from an independent league. Guy had always walked too many, but he's only given up 4 passes in 18.2 so far with the Tigers.3 points

Just like I said, Parker Meadows would SCORE the game winning run.....................3 points

We’ll always remember this as the Sunk Cost win, when both Maeda and Baez came through.2 points

The Tigers' issues with injuries come from the fact that the depth got hurt this year. Manning, Flores, SGL, Leonard, Kreidler, etc. That isn't going to be factored into the Fangraphs analysis.2 points

Glad they’re ending the linebacker experiment. Just let him be a situational pass rusher. That’s still really good value for a 6th round pick.2 points

The drama going on in Cincinnati with JaMarr Chase and Dallas with CeeDee Lamb makes me appreciate Holmes even more. He got it done with ASB. It was easy. You can always question the timing, but he got it done before Justin Jefferson or either of these guys, and now both of these guys want to reset the market and are in a game of chicken with their team with the season on the horizon. You can even throw in San Francisco with Aiyuk. No drama in Allen Park, just all ball.2 points

This has been two extremely satisfying nights in a row. Tomorrow’s a day game and a bullpen game - again - from what I can tell. I don’t know how long they can keep this up. I think we expected to be smothered after the trade deadline but we’re 6-4 in the last 10 games and even split a West Coast road series. This ugly dog has some teeth. They’re actually pretty darn entertaining.2 points

This is totally infuriating. During my short stint at teaching special needs kids - (kids from a lot of different school districts in northern New Jersey), we had some who were bussed to us from shelters,- and we KNEW these kids went through hell at night, often not able to sleep, nor, at times fed supper the night before or breakfast that morning. YOU LET THEM put their head down. You bring them something to eat. You give them a modicum of peace & quiet. **** this jerk for not even entertaining the thought that her life , even if only that day, might be horrific…. And that she was sleeping because she couldn’t keep her eyes open for even another minute. Put the cuffs on this monster. Damn him1 point

Maeda talking after the game about adjustments being made to improve velocity on all of his pitches and it seems to be paying off lately.1 point

What a great series for the home crowd. A blowout and two late innings come from behind wins with both being “group efforts.” A lot to cheer about.1 point

Meadows two stolen bases today. He and Javy were literally ALL the offense today but that was enough.1 point

First run off of him since July 4th, according to Jason. A 2 out, 2 run homer to Javy....very good to see but really kinda unbelievable.1 point

The fact that the GOP is spending such an inordinate amount of time going after Tim Walz really demonstrates how much they are struggling in figuring out how to deal with Harris IMO.1 point

He tried to come back with Toronto and needed a second surgery before the season started. Tried again the year after that and still had pain so he hung up the spikes.1 point

Late game victories are so much fun. Bring on those damn Yankees...1 point

This is almost good luck of biblical proportions, which is scary because there’s a lot of bad luck biblical proportion too, but still really awesome.1 point

They ARE fun to watch this year...! Despite some of the ups and downs of a very bumpy road...1 point

The Fetterman campaign in 2022 spent the entire election cycle clowning on Dr. Oz like like this with press releases and social media posts. I generally think they will be fine as voters on the margins aren't seeing a lot of this content anyways, unless the media picks up on it or it goes viral on social media.1 point

If there were a game where you had to take a drink every time Andy Dirks called the split-finger pitch a “splitty”, I’d be dead of alcohol poisoning by now.1 point

Javy gets the first hit of the day. Javy and Kenta $37 million paying off today.1 point

I have to say that this team (AAA players and all) has kept my interest up all year. These guys could be pretty good for the for the next few years with the addition of or the breaking out of a couple of real stars. It's fun to wear Tiger gear into the month of August for a change. 😉1 point

They will punish Trump backers the same as the Confederates were punished: they’ll be ostracized for a very short time, then they’ll be invited right back into power.1 point

I wouldn’t be surprised if that judge and court gets some heat over this. I saw the story when it aired and was half paying attention. I thought she was a defendant. The handcuffs thing is problematic for me. That’s physical restraint. The judge doesn’t know this girls situation. Maybe she is on meds. She didn’t commit any crime.1 point

Yes. I believe his thinking rests with starting them against the bottom part of the lineup in hopes of them getting in a groove.1 point

You gotta like these guys. Our rotation is shredded, we’re missing what we assumed would be key pieces to injury and optioning and deadline trades, and we’re now 5-3 in the last eight games against two teams fighting for the playoffs. The season might be all but toast, but they are still showing some spirit, some fight, some moxie, whatever you want to call it. They’ve been fun to watch again. Still, we’re firing Hinch, right? 😏1 point

the in season tourney games were some of the best regular season games last year. there's an incentive to score and keep scoring. its nice to see them try things to make the regular season games actually mean something. sure, if they wanted to do that they would reduce the schedule or reduce rhe number of teams that make the playoffs; however, the nba is a money making enterprise and we know they are not going to reduce the number of games because that will reduce their income. this is a nice experiment.1 point
