  3. A million thank yous to the Oakland County Prosecutors who set a new precedent that the SUPPLIERS of these horrible weapons will be part of the charges. Maybe more people will wake up and realize children shouldn't have guns like this. You can still take your kids hunting, but you won't be using THESE types of weapons. Took brass balls for the folks in Oakland County to take that (seemingly) risky step, but now we see it being followed in Georgia. Well done, Karen McDonald & Crew. Your persistence will eventually save lives !

  4. I'm fine with nobody trying to compete here if the Tigers' World Series run isn't tarnished by excessive presidential advertising.

  6. As I recall every draft site had Mize going 1-1. His fb hit 98 last eve. First full season back from TJ and it's been full of injuries. I'm a sucker, but I still think he can be a mid-to-end of rotation guy for several years.

  8. I recall when Obama was POTUS, he went to a diner or something and the person helping him was black. Now everybody knows black people talk different with other black people. So when the guy asked Obama if he wanted his change, Obama replied "Naw, we straight". I don't remember if the reporters cleaned it up or not but I remember it being discussed on a page I used to follow, National Review's Corner, which was a running block where their folks would sort of comment on stuff. They definitely didn't want them to clean it up because you know.... you gotta emphasize the guy is black and just like the mag cover of the Oval Office Fist Bump.... decorum in the WH went downhill once the blacks got in there, right? There goes the neighborhood. Pretty soon there'll be cookouts on the WH Lawn.

  10. Hard not to like Parker. Kind of a poor man’s Gibby. Lot of power and speed and make things happen. Doesn’t hit as well as Kirk did, but fields much better. Also, seems much more approachable. ****, they’re nothing alike. Please disregard this post.

  11. Parker Meadows hits a grand slam (6) to left field. Justyn-Henry Malloy scores. Jace Jung scores. Colt Keith scores. In the name of it of all that is good and decent please don’t blow this.

  14. I went up to watch the first High School football game of the season at the District I work for and a guy comes up to me and tells me how I coached him in football when he was a kid. I quickly remembered after him giving me his name so I asked him what he was doing up here thinking that maybe he was a student or something and he says he was watching his son play. Completely threw me off guard cause I'm "only" 41 and my child is only in 1st grade but given I was in my early 20s when I coached him and he had his child young it ended up checking out. Still was wild to me.

  15. I recently read that polling response rates are now under 1%. There is almost nothing 'random' about who and why some people still answer a phone or text. So they are no longer actually random sampling, what they are doing is regressing the survey data they can get to correlate well with what they expect as a reasonable outcome or past outcomes and then reporting that their poll is reproducing a reasonable outcome. But any idea that they are getting a representative sample of the population - which is the fundamental assumption undergirding sampled polling, is pure fantasy today. What they are doing will work as long as change remains incremental, because linearity will always hold well enough over small increments. But they are guaranteed to miss anything big happening. Which is not to argue that it is, only they the polls are locked into methodology making them likely to miss it.

  16. I am not scoreboard watching because with the # of games behind and the # of games left... they have to win. They won't be backing into it by the othe teams losing. If the Tigers win, then I'll check the other games.

  17. But looking back at draft picks and seeing who you would have drafted is cheating. People need to make their picks before a draft to have any credibility. I remember the talk of Mize over Singer. Every draft "expert" around had Mize over him.

  18. Found a new country artist to check out thanks to savingcountrymusic.com named Rich Henderson. He's got a new album out called Alive in Alabama. So far, I've listened to only the song below off the album called Time Well Spent. I'm liking what I'm hearing thus far. Sounds like a solidly traditional country artist singing a well written song that tells a story we can all relate to.

  21. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/DET/DET198806210.shtml 3 walks in the bottom of the 9th, two were with the bases loaded to make it 6-3. All 3 games that weekend were walk off wins. The night before Brookens hit a walk off. I remember that one more than the Trammell one for some reason. I was out with a friend and his dad picked us up, we asked about the game and he just said "Tommy Brookens!" That stuck with me.

  24. Big Papi (and Bird steals the ball) are my lowest points as a Detroit fan of 50+ years. Feels good to be on the right side tonight. Something definitely feels different about the Tigers the past month or two. That "core" Harris talks about seems to finally be in place, although most were actually drafted by Avila. Great win!

  25. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and was grumpy as heck and didn’t follow this game very closely, especially after I saw we were down 3–0. Forever it seemed… then I picked up the phone 10 seconds after the slam. After the fact, I went back and watched that last inning on mlb.tv and noticed how jubilant and certain the crowd was that they were going to win. Their faces were glowing with a nearly childlike joy, and I almost felt bad for them, but only almost. I know what it’s like to feel crushed, and it was basically their turn. Baseball is a zero sum game, and there actually is crying in baseball, but not for us tonight.

  36. It's not the speech, it's the law. You can't spread around foreign money without registering as a foreign agent and foreign money is about the only kind the law does say you can't spend on an US election - though there are even some loopholes there.
