  1. Ignorant easterners have no idea what happens when it doesn't rain for 10 months and then you get 60mph desert winds coming at you through a bunch of rugged terrian. It's like saying "people aren't prepared for a volcano." The planet usually gets the last word on human efforts to 'be prepared'

  2. Ron DeSantis is a racist pig and he found every way possible to insult Joe Biden. But when Florida needed Hurricane relief Biden asked "what do you need" and then they got it. Because that's how you do it.

  3. At least they were able to contain the Sunset Fire in LA so my daughter and her fiancé can return to their apartment in West Hollywood. But they’re not going back until the air quality improves so I’m happy for them but feel really bad for all the other people that are suffering through this and have lost everything.

  4. Funny how so many people and politicians from states that TAKE more from the rest of us than they give, want to deny aid to Californians. But not surprising. And yes, the strategy is going to be cut funding on just about everything to states with Democratic Governors and tell voters they need to vote for Republicans to get their funding back. I don't put anything past these vile pigs in that vile party. And it will probably work because Americans are so stupid. And then they can get enough of a majority to change the Constitution and my goodness, what they'll do to that. I hate these people.

  16. The thing that bothers me is the dynamic pricing. No clue if the Pistons use it or not but a lot of teams do. And if they do, this game would have been priced with those guys playing. Now that they are not playing, that pricing is wrong. True dynamic pricing wouldn't charge you until they tip and based on that lineup.

  20. The last couple of natural disaster events we have had (Helene, now this) have really laid bare how difficult it is to obtain news about these events that isn't completely framed in the context of politics. It's easier to get better, more contextualized information about the fires from watching WGN's weather guy (in a city over 2,000 miles away) than it is to get it from the national news, and that is an absolute failure of the media *and* the consumer (who apparently wants this)

  21. I saw before the game that the Pistons were 9.5 point favorites on the road and couldn't believe my eyes but then I saw the Nets lineup and understood why, that's a glorified G-League lineup. In any event, the Pistons took care of business which is a good sign of growth. 19-18 is crazy especially after the 0-4 start, 19-14 in their last 33 considering the last 4 seasons is surreal. Most were predicting 30 wins as a good season and a good step forward, 40 now seems realistic. Amazing what competent coaching and a few solid vets could do for a young group. What Weaver and Monty did should be considered executive and coaching malpractice.

  24. Like most things, it can be abused. Like most things, trying to make it better is the correct choice, not getting rid of it. DEI initiatives have been very beneficial, but focusing too much on DEI can be wrong as well.

  31. I remember him saying that as it happened. I wasn't sure I heard it right because I couldn't believe that anyone would be dumb and insensitve enough to say anything like that. I always knew he was a stupid shallow douchebag, but I didn't know what a psychopath he was until that moment.

  33. Almost as good as when Trump honored that pill popping, misogynistic, racist Rush Limbaugh with the medal of freedom. Honoring a bigot like Limbaugh with the medal of freedom is bad itself. I don't think Hillary or Soros should have been honored in this way by Biden. I've made disdain for the Clintons well known and will continue to.

  35. My daughter and her fiancé live in West Hollywood and they have just left for San Diego. Not because West Hollywood is in danger but because the air quality is so bad and the fiancé‘s family are pretty well off and they have a place to stay at in San Diego but all the ordinary people are screwed. And I suppose that when Trump becomes president he will not allow federal aid to go to Los Angeles just out of spite.

  37. Philly is the toughest threat in the NFC, imo. Two cracks at getting them knocked out before the Lions would have to deal with them themselves in the NFC championship. So, uh, go Packers. And since that upset is unlikely, I’m ready to cheer against the Eagles the following week too.

  38. Good point. Its not CJ is terrible if we are strictly speaking on his talent. Probably even a good fit with Ivey out. But he has a year more on his deal than THJ so it messes up cap space. Then the fact he rarely plays 70 games a year anymore.

  39. I agree on both points, I just don't think that waiting another year to make improvements externally is necessarily going to give them a better chance to win. Rignt now, they play in a relatively soft division and have the best pitcher in baseball. They are ready now.

  40. Generally speaking, I think Holmes drafts not for that coming season, but for what the team will look like in 2-3 seasons. Whereas generally he uses free agency and trading to address immediate needs. It's why he takes guys like Vaki, Manu, and Rakestraw in the draft, trades for a guy like CDIII, and signs a guy like Zeitler. On offense, Mahagony seems to have the inside lane to replace one of Glasgow and Zeitler, once it's needed. Knock on all the wood, but Ragnow has had a very healthy season after battling that nagging turf toe all of last year. I'm not at all worried about his longevity right now. So that said, you probably need one guard and maybe one tackle, depending on how well Gio Manu develops, which none of us know. Beyond the line, you maybe need to think about replacing Montgomery in the coming years, though Vaki may be primed to do so. You need to make a decision on Jamo as well. If Jamo is extended, you're pretty well set at WR for the foreseeable future. You could probably stand to improve on Tim Patrick, but there's no urgency or real "need" there. Run it back with Tim Patrick, find the next Tim Patrick, whatever, they'll figure something out, like they've done between DJ Chark and Josh Reynolds. I think the slightly more likely direction is still on defense, and specifically the line. The line is anchored by McNeill and Hutch, and you have DJ Reader and Za'Darius Smtih for next season, but Reader will be 31 and Smith 33 next season, in addition to McNeill rehabbing an ACL. Z's snap counts and usage also indicates that there isn't a lot of trust there on run defense, and the youth there in Brodric Martin hasn't showed the development that a lot of us were hoping for (not writing him off, just saying he's not ready). I do think they give Levi a second contract, which is crazy to have said a year ago, but overall that's probably the unit with the most question marks looking to 2026 and 2027, that could also use a rookie's immediate boost. I've been pounding the drum for a few seasons, but I think finding an A-tier edge rusher to line up across from Hutch could take the defense from being top-ten to top-three in the league. I think the linebackers are set, and may be among the best in the league next year, as long as Glenn stays or the replacement picks up where he's leaving off. Carlton Davis will probably, though not necessarily, walk this offseason. They might pick up a free agent replacement, but you have Amik and Rakestraw still here, so there's not a ton of urgency there either, and in any event your safeties are the best in the league. This is a really good team. Now and in the future. It's a fun time to be a fan.

  42. I just discovered that my daughter and her fiancé who had to flee their apartment because of the smoke in West Hollywood discovered one hour after they left that evacuation orders had been given because the hills 1 mile away are a blaze and it’s headed their direction. These dwellings were built in the 1920s and Charlie Chaplin‘s place is right next-door. They are devastated that they might lose everything although my daughter and her fiancé made sure that the wedding dress and the fiancé’s suit were already in San Diego where the wedding will take place in October. My daughter left her car behind because they thought there was no chance of the fire reaching them. Now she’s really worried about it.
