  2. Question. Can Trumpers honestly say that the Republican base does not practice what the (dis)Honorable Senator calls idealogical capture? And if it's illegal for a private educational institution (like Harvard) shoulda't it be illegal for another institution (like Liberty, or Hillsdale for example) who also receives federal funding?

  6. Yes. -Much better defender -2 years younger -A bit taller and bigger Downside is he's not the offensive sparkplug and movement shooter that Beasley is. His 3P% is good (38%) but not as good as Beasley (41%). You're trading that for way better defense and you hope that Ivey replaces Beasley scoring (in different ways, obviously). You also lose the chemistry that Beasley clearly has with this locker room, but that's a risk you have to take to improve at some point anyway. Bottom line, we need 2-way players.

  7. I find it really hard to believe that the guy who said multiple times he wanted to f*** his own daughter, barged into the Miss Teen USA dressing room, ogled a 10 year old and said he would be dating her in 10 years, raped E Jean Carrol, and groped dozens of women, would be involved in child sex trafficking, even though he bought the sex trafficker's airplane that he rode on 7 times.

  12. My ability to follow the Detroit Tigers has changed dramatically over 65 seasons. It once was a lonely pursuit of looking at box scores and is now a 24–7 passion in full color on TV chatting in real time with other people. Never living in Detroit itself, I originally settled for box scores in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette newspaper, a subscription to the Sporting News, maybe a dozen TV broadcasts on a Fort Wayne, IN station, and of course, the daily blessing of listening to Ernie Harwell. Yearly Sporting News baseball registers were a big deal too. As a kid my room was covered with cheaply printed black and white glossy photos of the early 60s team, and I could’ve been mistaken for a religious zealot with a wall full of icons of various saints singing with mysterious allure. I was also the only person I knew who had a passion for the Tigers. So it was a somewhat lonely pursuit. Such as having arcane hobby like collecting bugs. I was never enculturated in a vibrant, local tradition like most of you. After the amazing joy of the 1968 season and getting older, I pretty much stopped paying attention, especially when I moved to Tucson, Arizona then Boise, Idaho. I busied myself with the life of a young man. Spent every weekend in the mountains walking through carpets of flowers and enjoying the other worldly solitude of the desert. My general disinterest was only interrupted in 1984 when a group of Detroiters moved to Tucson, Arizona, and I fell in with them and for the first time in my life, I was not a lonely bug collector, but a fellow member of a religious cult and a part of a lineage, where a passion for the Tigers is passed down from generation to generation. In 2004 thanks to the Internet I discovered this site and it’s really great to feel included in something broader which was once a lonely, personal pursuit. It’s really a joy to share these last 100+ games with you.

  13. Yeah hard to believe he wouldn't sign but with that said as bad as the Angels are as a franchise they have always been known to be aggressive with prospects so there was a good chance in his and his agents eyes atleast that they'd be an ideal spot to get to the majors the fastest. I think it just boils down to the Tigers really liking Jung and his supposed advanced bat. I agree with SoCal that I think they drafted for immediate concerns instead of BPA, they probably felt that Jung could help the big league team as early as 2023. The regime probably knew their leash was short and they couldn't afford to take guys that were years away. Of course Neto ended up proving that he wasn't far away but they may have not thought that at the time.

  15. Serious question. Assuming this feud is real and not Apprentice style reality theatre, what are the implications. Musk has had access to the keys of the government, supposedly knows where the bodies are buried, all sorts of security access and information. His "minions" are still there on their computers "working on DOGE projects. We've go the workings of a DEFCON 1 government crises led by a guy who has absolutely no clue how a government is supposed to operate. Most of the flunkeys he's put in charge of major departments are just as bad. And the next guy (Vance) in line beliefs are probably even worse, How the heck to we get out of this mess in one piece

  17. you have to accept that you are going to make the occasional out if you run the bases aggressively because occasionally the other team will make the perfect play. But that's what it should take. What you should never see are easy outs - those are always screw-ups.

  21. i saw some early speculation that the Trump/Musk "Feud" has a bit of a pro wrestling feel. In a lot of way Musk turns "heel" on Trumpers. We'll see the "Turn" in November '26. i'm just not sure the country has an attention span that long Meanwhile, enjoy

  24. I know for younger music fans these days, and ones of pop music, they don't care, but I really have no respect for people who lip synch, even partially. I have seen older artists that don't hit all the notes anymore and I am fine with that. In a TV show setting, I kind of understand, but not a live one. I think it's weak

  29. I have a very similar "this is my lonely vigil" thing going as a transplant in Virginia. The Tigers were my link to the team that kept me going during a very difficult time growing up with an alcoholic parent and a lot of home chaos.

  38. Unfortunently I remember that well. The Tigers and Phillies teamed up and created "vote for Brantorino". Which was Brandon Inge for the AL and Shane Victorino for the NL's last spots. It was very annoying, the announcers at the time were harping on it every three seconds to vote "Brantorino". It worked, both got the final spot in their respective league.

  40. True, I believe the BA for a 100 OPS+ is dropping. Keith has gotten himself to a 105 OPS+, though it's it doesn't seem like it watching him - probably because his walk rate is pretty decent and walks tend to be pretty 'meh'

  44. A few bigs I’m looking at. Some as the third big some as a Duren replacement in a trade. Day'Ron Sharpe – Mobile big with a very limited offensive game who offers no spacing. I did some digging and his first few years they had him playing drop coverage, and he sucked at it. They changed him to a more perimeter-based defense, doubling the PnR ball handler, hedging, etc. and he thrived. Big guy, 6’11” 260 pounds but moves very well and has quick hands. He could get expensive, possibly $8 million plus. Guerschon Yabusele – Defined as a mobile big on defense and floor spacer on offense. An older player, he will turn 30 in December. Played a few years in his early 20s then went back to Europe for 5 or 6 years. Came back last year and played well. Shot 38% from three on 4 attempts per game. Can play both C and PF. Again, he will be expensive, probably the full MLE ($14 million). Tristan Vukcevic – Third big candidate. He hasn’t even played 50 games yet. But in the 35 he played last year he shot 37% from three and he just turned 22 in March. I feel your third big should always be a young guy you are developing. And stretch bigs continue to be more and more important. He would be very cheap. Bobby Portis – Just adding him because everyone has him on their list. Not real sure where he plays unless a center or Harris is being moved. I would guess around the full MLE for him as well. Andre Drummond – Stop. Just stop. Brook Lopez – Maybe on a very cheap 1-year deal. Other than that, not really interested. Myles Turner – Of course. But the path to having the money isn’t very realistic. Santi Aldama - Pretty good player, but seems a bit soft to me. Stretch big though. Doesn't matter, since I think Memphis matches most sane offers. You would have to be around $20 million per before they don't match.
